  1. Not me...I'm gonna get together with Kwik and give 'em all a handout on proper posting - I really do want folks to be compliant with the letter of the law! Just kidding, folks, of course!! - OS
  2. There's this, too: "Shall not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence as defined in 18 U.S.C.A. 921 (33); " That's for HCP, so probably same for purchasing firearm. You'll definitely need to get some court documentation to the proper authorities, but I'm not sure who that is... - OS
  3. Haw! Well, actually, looks like previous guns on permit were: Ruger p-90 .45 Glock 17 9mm XD 9mm Barretta 9mm Ruger p-90 .45 (again) And finally the Beretta PX4 .45 All the previous ones are strikethrough ; I guess you can only be "certified" for one gun at a time or some such w/ NY carry permit. Dunno. - OS
  4. I fail to see how a paddle holster offers any better concealment than a belt holster? I mean, they are both OWB, one just clips ON belt and the the paddle slips OVER belt. ?? - OS
  5. Really a nice job, especially for a first try! You're only a few years late being able to make a very good living with that model! - OS
  6. Yeah, I noticed early in life that my chi went immediately south after a good kick in the balls ... - OS
  7. Incidentally, you can't even have a pocketknife 2.5" blade or longer or you are just as guilty. So, I'm sure there are MANY of us who regularly break this law, even if we have left our heater in the car/home. - OS
  8. Well, it's "federal facility", not "property". "The term "Federal facility" means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties." Hence, the recent rule change that you could carry in National Parks, but not in "buildings" ("facilities"). Of course, now that has been halted, too. - OS
  9. NY state permit to BUY and OWN a handgun is quite different than NY state permit to CARRY a handgun. - OS
  10. He's actually selling 9mm for about the same as most "reputable" online places. Probably a little cheaper, since no shipping charges. - OS
  11. Or he could eat at Corky's in Jackson, much closer to him - OS
  12. Well, besides the ammo and firearm distribution probs, operating under bankruptcy may be affecting their inventory control too. - OS
  13. Wonder Works. Next to Tomy Roma's (which used to be Alabama Grill, then Country Legends Grill), next to Miracle Theater (which used to be the Louise Mandrell Theater). Wonder Works (and Miracle, and Magic Tonight, and I forget what all else) is owned by Black Bear Jamboree folks on the other side of Wonder Works. Wonder Works is great place for the kids. And back one street at the end of Sevierville is the Apple Barn complex, one of the biggest tourist eateries in the county. - OS
  14. The usual IWB recommendations, I guess. Want something pretty quick? kydex: Comp-Tac or Crossbreed leather: D.M. Bullard or less custom Galco, Hume, Desantis wait a good long while?: TT Gunleather, UBG Holsters, K&D and etc. wait a long long while?: Milt Sparks and etc. many others of course. I only listed makers who have double retainers that are off the thick part of the gun. If you want some kind of clip/loop holsters that have those on thick part of holster/gun, there are many many, but I never recommend them. - OS
  15. No municipality is going to make the effort to allow carry, even if they don't even feel strongly against it. So really, if enacted in this manner, this new statute will be de facto mean NO CHANGE for carrying in city parks. Actually with the gray area in verbiage re "prohibited weapons" addressed, any defense is really zapped, so the law will be actually strengthened. - OS
  16. Ummm, so if YOU were the clerk's friend, and he called YOU, would you still fuss about the matter? - OS
  17. It's true. Starts July 1st. Ammo will quadruple in price and will take about 6 months to even deliver. Also, you will have to surrender any pre-numbered ammo in your possession or face federal charges. You can believe this, because I have written it on the InterWebNetBlog thing. - OS
  18. Orders I have gotten through Cabelas, CTD, and Midway are not sent signature required through Fedex Home, even when they have ammo. But it's up to the Fedex driver whether it is safe to leave without sig. It's a claim thing: Fedex Ground (and Home Delivery) guys are contractors, not employees ... any claims come out of their pockets. I live in apt complex, so they (wisely) never leave ANY package without sig. UPS also have option to leave or not if no sig required, but they are generally a little more cavalier about it, since a missing package isn't coming out of their paycheck. - OS
  19. According to http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/political-issues/19711-local-parks-hb0960.html sounds like it will be better not to have it pass at all. - OS
  20. "odd" is right. Their logo and statue has a bull with a big fish in his mouth. Like, don't fool with Mother Nature, doodz! - OS
  21. Okay, gotcha... Thanks for your explanation. WUOT doesn't carry Talk of the Nation or Tell Me More. - OS
  22. NPR doesn't have talk shows period, AFAIK. (I have no idea what NPR programming RightWinger is referring to, as they aren't on WUOT here in Knoxville). - OS
  23. Nothing is "veto proof" because of initial passage, AFAIK. If vetoed, has to go back to house/senate for a 2/3 override, just like federal congress, yes? Of course, this still has to pass the senate, right? What's the finger on the pulse there say? - OS
  24. I can't find statute wherin a felon's trying to possess a firearm is a crime. Only a crime once he actually does possess it. Maybe it's not in the weapons section ? - OS
  25. Good Lord, people... Now a feller can't run anywhere in public to catch a friend, or a bus, or whatever, without being lucky he didn't get tackled or ventilated? While many may like to denigrate the 97% of Tennesseans who do not have a carry permit as "sheeple" and "idiots" it might behoove us all to remember that most folks are not walking around armed (legally or not) and certainly not with tactical alert color conditions influencing their behavior. - OS
