  1. Oh, how 'bout... Trillions of tax dollars going to bail out poorly run companies and fatcat upper management, while individuals get a couple of grand tax cut and a hearty "good luck brother". Taking my taxes to use for a Social Security Ponzi scheme that makes Bernie Madoff look like a piker. Putting the US into so much debt that before long half the federal budget will be needed just to pay the interest on our national debt. Printing so much more money not backed by anything but US "good faith" that almost surely will create huge inflation rate as soon as deflation is contained. Many others, these just off top of my head... It's time for many things in America, equitable tax (I like Fair Tax), term limits on all levels, securing our borders, less Federal involvement in most EVERYTHING, etc, etc. The various states' rights resolutions submitted and/or passed by the various state legislatures are telling - even the state level crooks are protesting against the tyranny. I think it's probably as much an expression of general displeasure as anything. I'm planning on wandering 'round the Knoxville one, just to finger the pulse. - OS
  2. Dunno. Open carry folks have to worry about that sort of thing. - OS
  3. XD 45 (service size) best prices new are $500-525, plus tax/TICS. The Magtech is probably best price $12/50. That is, of course, if you can actually find either. - OS

  5. Been shooting 200-300 9mm plus some .38 per month... Last 6 weeks or so, have only shot .22 - OS
  6. What's the deal on those M&P full size, that "beavertail" frame area that sticks backwards over the top of the backstrap? Never really thought about it, except the compact model doesn't have it. - OS
  7. Wow, didn't realize that anyone in the state was over 9.25%. Live and learn. - OS
  8. Bzzzzztttt, Mason County is west of Seattle itself, on Puget Sound. Shelton is county seat, about 80 miles west of Seattle. - OS
  9. Crap. I forgot to watch it... Anyone? (it's not on YouTube yet). - OS
  10. His 9mm ad has changed since this morning...now only option is $400 for 1500 rounds, no pic now...maybe that's all he has left. - OS
  11. The Belt Man is in the top few choices. Hard to do better than the 1.5" bullhide. TheBeltMan.net - OS
  12. I used to follow the dip around with AV support on his mostly not even UT related stumping ventures. You're probably lucky that the Board of Regents didn't rescind all diplomas under his tenure! - OS
  13. I'd say they had already put them up before the injunction, might as well leave them, as they are valid either way the wind blows on nat'l park carry, eh? - OS
  14. Lamar wanted to be president, that's all. All other positions he has held were just to have a job and keep in the best spotlight he can. The University of TN has never recovered from his short and ruinous stay as the belated "well, okay, I'll be president of UT until I get a better offer" SOB he is. He was directly responsible for pissing the legislature off during tough budget time, so they whacked UT, and it has never had the same proportion of funding since. - OS
  15. Well, the places that serve alcohol don't need to be posted, since it's currently illegal to carry there, eh? - OS
  16. Ah... Then I guess paddle would work for that. If your pants stay up with weight of gun without belt! - OS
  17. That's true for city/county biz tax purposes, wasn't thinking. 90% of my biz revenue through the years was out of state/educational, which was biz tax exempt (same as with sales tax). But you are correct, price paid for resale is not exempt from total gross sale figure. And of course, you are to collect state sales tax on all in-state gross amounts. Dunno, but it applies to local city/county under state law. Never looked into it, as I'm not disabled (some friends might disagree ). "Tennessee law requires businesses to have a business license issued by local government, except: professions that pay the Professional Privilege Tax: accountant, security agent/broker/dealer/investment advisor, attorney, audiologist, chiropractor, dentist, engineer, landscape architect, lobbyist, optometrist, pharmacist, physician, psychologist, real estate broker, speech pathologist, and veterinarian. Manufacturers: The ruling is complex, but if a manufacturer sells at retail, a business license is required. Services performed by religious, charitable, educational, and non-profit organizations are exempt. Receipts from sales of food, beverages or other tangible personal property sold by non-profits are subject to business tax. Soft drink bottlers, gas, electric and water companies, movie theaters and vending machine operators. Operators of camps and trailer parks where only real property is rented. Certain businesses owned by the disabled: some blind persons and disabled veterans. Other: Newspaper route carriers, farmers selling directly, and businesses with annual sales under $3,000." - OS
  18. Assuming he is indeed buying 100 count boxes at WalMart: WWB is 19.97 + 1.84 tax +.10 ammo fee = 21.91 x 10 = 219.10 So, selling at $265 he's making 45.90 per 1000. So not much money unless he's really scored a BUNCH of it. I mean, like enough to have truly personally caused a Wally ammo shortage in all of middle TN. - OS
  19. Business license and sales tax are different matters. Maybe he already has a TN tax ID number, who knows...he definitely should collect and remit sales tax, but only on the difference between what he paid and what he sells it for, since he already paid sales tax on the original purchase. As far a city and/or county biz license, you don't need one till you've made $3000 profit. If he's disabled as someone suggested or disabled vet, he might not need biz licenses at all. - OS
  20. Far as I know, if businesses post in GA, it's not legally binding. But don't necessarily take my word for it... Georgia Gun Laws in Plain English on GeorgiaPacking.org Is a good source. - OS
  21. Absolutely right... Garufa and I BOTH have old Remington Fieldmaster .22 pumps, circa 1950. They both still shoot great. And they have all metal innards, trigger, trigger housing, etc. They'll be shooting long after some of the modern ones will have had to be fitted with various replacement parts. Btw, that Mossberg Plinkster is really pretty shoddy...I have one (the 802 bolt job), only have shot it twice, and already have had to locktite the bolt lugs in, which kept falling out, and the front sight broke in half (plastic). It does shoot pretty accurately, but robust it's not. I paid $115 new for it. I also recently bought new Ruger 10/22. It shoots well, but it's definitely not as accurage as the old pump (or even the Plinkster, actually). 'Course, you get to reel off 10 quick shots, so that's cool. But it's half plastic. My guess is, if that old rifle shoots nicely, it's probably easily worth the $150 no matter what it is. But I wouldn't buy it without firing it unless it turned out to be something really rare and could be resold just becasue of the rarity, in case it needed a search for old parts or something... - OS
