  1. Well, things are worth what someone will pay, eh? - OS
  2. Sweat guard has more to do with comfort for me. Finish on my XD pretty much like Glock's, not worried about that, just that gun digs without leather tween it and my bod (I don't wear undershirts). - OS
  3. 14 months ago, feller on motorcycle rounded curve on wrong side and hit me head on, killed instantly. Certainly not trying to be cavalier or flippant about the experience, but I have been surprised at just how little this has affected me. I can only presume that fact is because I had no real culpable responsibility in the matter, no "choice", if you will. I can only hope that if the second worst thing ever happens in a self-defense situation, I'll feel the same way. If the first worst thing happens, I of course won't be feeling anything at all. - OS
  4. Against midgets, maybe. And not fat ones. - OS
  5. Echo the PM9, but I don't think you can get one for quite $600?
  6. No, they are just short shells, 1 3/4" - OS
  7. You'll need to buy it elsewhere, though. They won't ship to TN. - OS
  8. Do you have a duel scheduled with Mini-Me? Seriously, I've never even seen one, but a quick Google indicates that many shotguns, both pump and semi-auto have feeding or ejecting issues with them, so might depend on your gun. Sounds good for S/S and O/U for fun, though. - OS
  9. Ummm, what about the first logical step of taking the gun back to shop and giving them a chance to rectify the situation? - OS
  10. Well, you can SEE the barn though, right? That's always a plus. - OS
  11. My XD SC 9mm with 13+1 weighs exactly 32 oz. Even a geezer should be able to walk around with an extra 2 lbs seems to me. - OS
  12. "joining" seems to be the main reason Big Brother has taken over states rights and the fed's infringement upon individual liberty . What with all the state sovereignty resolutions recently as prime examples, you might want to rethink this philosophy before you decide to live with it the rest of your life? - OS

Little far from you, but Garell Foshee at Personal Defense Solutions, the little shop at Watt Road exit south of Knoxville, had like 6 or 8 of them a few weeks ago, I noticed because he had so many. 865-223-3117. - OS
  14. Spent all three hours there...didn't follow the march at the end to the Federal Building, though... 3 bad phone pix at the end of this...last one taken from on top of the SunSphere. I estimated 3,000 there at one time at the height of things, around 5; more than that total if you counted all the comers and goers. For those of you unfamiliar with the open air amphitheater, it is LARGE. Odd assortment of speakers, and yeah, some pols, Suntzu. Stacey Campfield (TN- House) drove over from Nashville just for it, and spoke briefly but rousingly. Mike Hammond, long time radio personality and Knox County Commissioner, was quite forceful, he and Campfield probably got the biggest roars. Actually, come to think of it, Harold Black, UT prof got the crowd pretty revved too. Oddest, and most ominous, act was Stewart Rhodes...he's the vet who has cranked up the Oath Keepers thing that has been mentioned here. Apparantly he is pretty tight with the primary organizers of the thing, Rand Cardwell and his wife (who sang couple of original songs), and Ryan Turbeville. At any rate, was surprised to see him on the agenda, and especially to close it, as his "organization" is as yet just a blog: Oath Keepers Suffice it to say that he basically went FAR beyond tax matters right into civil disobedience, indeed with thinly veiled call for armed resistance, with inflammatory remarks like "the military will keep their oaths and fight alongside us against what amounts to acts of war" and etc. Fairly heady stuff, really. Crowd was REALLY behind him for about 10 min, but by the time he had all who wanted to stand and take the military oath "against all enemies foreign and domestic" seemed about half the crowd was finally getting somewhat uncomfortable with the tone. While many among us might laud his tack, methinks Mr. Rhodes will be under a good deal of scrutiny before long, especially since there is some kind of Oath Keepers commemoration/protest on Lexington Green in a few days, supposedly with a number of active duty personnel. Dunno, stay tuned on all that ... methinks if you want to foment armed revolution you don't show your cards until you have something to revolt WITH. Anyway, I found the whole thing quite exhilarating, especially in light of the recent Homeland Security pronouncement which would include most of us here as "terrorists" (and now most certainly Stewart Rhodes), and the 33 legislatures that have or have had States Rights/Sovereignty resolutions presented. Sorry about the crummy pix .. I should have actually taken my digicam, but bteague2 caught the details quite nicely, kudos! - OS
  15. Big time fluted ... they've taken away all the metal they could for weight, just left enough so that it won't blow up (hopefully). - OS
  16. Sent you PM, Cody... These directions (second post, the written ones below pic) oughtta get us there, methinks: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/events-gatherings/13558-east-tn-member-november-shoot-n-camp.html - OS
  17. Yeah, was thinking 9mm. Probably $15/50, and that was when you could still get ammo most anywhere. - OS
  18. Mark..will take your advice... I'd prolly come up with Mike .357, but I'm not gonna camp...I find ya Friday...and keep the phone number handy ... lookin' forward to meeting you and others! - OS
  19. Found rather convoluted directions on previous thread back in November... what's the actual address, so can maybe MapQuest it? - OS
  20. "govt. buildings", if not federal, or posted, are okay to carry in. - OS
  21. I kind of doubt it, but then again, there may be some on the agenda to speak...I have no idea, and can't find any exact agendas of the various gatherings...I guess there might be pols who feel they are "maverick" enough to make some mileage out of the protest.... Well, I don't expect much change to come about from it, but then again, I'm just impressed that something, ANYTHING, has actually been organized to the extent that this has nationwide. Hell, you usually couldn't spend a million bucks and get a thousand folks in one state to actually meet for anything...so in honor of just the gesture itself, I think I'll show... - OS
  22. Like, for cuts? (that's the only use for small quantities I can think of). - OS
  23. Yeah, mingling with the great unwashed can be messy. Also, if you shake any public officials' hands, you have to count your fingers each time. - OS
