  1. The prohibition for "federal buildings" would probably still stand, though - no mention of that here. So, we're still, like, must disarm to go into a restroom/visitor center. - OS
  2. Thanks, but well, I dunno. Little gray to me still, I'm afraid. Going by: "(2) the possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the State in which the unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System is located." Seems to me that only HCP holder could carry a handgun, but he could carry it either concealed or openly. And I guess we're back to the reciprocity thing for carry in Parks in other states. Nobody, currently, could carry a loaded long gun period. If the proposed law changes, then a HCP holder could carry a loaded long gun in vehicle only. You concur, FG? - OS
  3. If you don't get your priorities in order early on, I predict a life of misery with the distaff species. - OS
  4. You couldn't find the Norris range when I followed you, and you'd been there before! - OS
  5. Sounds like carry permit has nothing to do with it, right? Long guns, handguns, all? Open, concealed, both? Where's the actual text of the dang thang? - OS
  6. North, toward Norris Dam... - OS
  7. If you actually show, I'll give you ten rounds of something. Perhaps applause. I vote arrgg, I mean, aye matey. - OS
  8. Proper response is, "Yes, of course it was a Glock, but ownership details are privileged information." - OS
  9. Ever seen them Arkansas hoop snakes, too? - OS
  10. I think that's relatively accurate synopsis, yeah. The bigger mystery to me is why in the frick didn't the Dept. of Interior appeal the federal injunction? After all, it was the DOI that went through the long process of changing the rule in the first place! - OS
  11. I'd break the "tradition" for that! Appreciate the offer! Comments? - OS
  12. Short report on this on CNN this morning ... It's actually attached to credit card reform bill right now ... I HATE how Congress does that kind of crap... Anyway, gist is that it is likely to be separated from that, and whether it is or not, it's expected to pass, and O expected to sign it. - OS
  13. 70below, yes? But what was his ixnay comment regarding it in the May shoot thread?
  14. Well, probably shouldn't put Norris back in rotation till July because of the June 30 annual registration date ... So how about the Chuck Swan or Royal Blue sites? I've never been to either one ... - OS
  15. I simply meant, gist of the exception could merely read, "HCP holders may carry loaded rifles/shotguns in privately owned vehicles." I guess they could have added, "shell in chamber is allowed if manual safety is present and engaged, on Mondays and Thursdays only, except in June". So yes, of course it's a big improvement, but why the extra complication? - OS
  16. Not withdrawal. Deposit. If it's in your bank account, it's already a matter of record. Large cash deposits were first logged/reported as possible drug money investigation leads good long while ago. And I think that is/was reported to FBI. Now, who knows, but logically ,deposits are what would interest any agency more than withdrawal. - OS
  17. Well, I guess that's a minor difference... But remember, this is only allowed for folks with a HCP ... so, it's just totally absurd that you're allowed to have one in the chamber with your handgun, but not same with a rifle or shotgun. Like a long gun behind seat or in trunk is more dangerous than a freaking heater stuck in your pants? - OS
  18. Go to: NRA-ILA :: Click on MA on map to get PDF. Article starts with: A complex procedure is set out for the purchase of rifes, shotguns, handguns, their related feeding devices, ammunition, “large capacity frearms†and “large capacity feeding devices.†Complex is right. I gave up. - OS
  19. One of my comments re The Road on another forum: I think it's important to realize that The Road doesn't really relate to "prepping" or "survivalism" in any conventional sense. There is NO real future for humans even suggested in the scenario. With no possibility of agriculture or animal breeding or even "re-domestication" of such, it's only a matter of time and luck until the last person on earth disappears. Probably as valid as any other scenario if large enough comet or asteroid(s) were to strike, or possible results of nuclear winter. There's always a chance that the atmosphere could clear enough for photosynthesis to reestablish and survival made possible from existing seed stores somewhere, but even that is not even hinted at, and without other forms of life existing, even that probably wouldn't be enough to continue homo sapiens. I actually see the work as more of a philosophical essay on the ultimate isolation of the individual within the cosmos, alone as we each ultimately are at our demise, the mystery of the overall WHY. - OS
  20. Hmmm, would like to pick a hundred words or so from it and put you to the test! When I read novels, I generally jot down words I'm hazy on or totally unfamiliar with, and Cormac's stuff gets more than most - and I'm not totally illiterate, even though I do have an English degree! - OS
  21. Thanks... Lordie, I hope the local parks one gets enacted, if this is correct. - OS
  22. This was the state park related one only, yes? Assuming yes, what's status of municipal park one? - OS
  23. Oh Shoot

    Snake!

Copperheads get quite thick. Older ones are as "fat" as any of our American snakes. They can live 15-20 years. - OS
  24. Leaves folks with single/double barrel and over/under shotties right where they were before. Just can't believe how both obtuse and abstruse legislators are. A sane person would simply ban or allow "loaded guns" and leave it at that. - OS
