  1. BZZZZZTTTT, maybe nix that previous advice, just remembered there's sign of "no concealed carry, no loaded magazines, and no loose ammo". I'm pretty sure that's what it said. So not sure if inside is okay, sorry.... - OS
  2. Well, if that doesn't work, could wheel it around on two wheel dolly with a sign in the air attached ... THAT oughtta get some attention? Anyway, don't see why anyone would gripe, plenty of folks walking around inside with guns and signs to sell/trade them. - OS
  3. Well, lessee... I bought a state of the art Hi-Point C9 and a "$20" knife for $10 (worth $5) just to get the sheath for another knife I have, got some various .357 mag and .38 special from Georgia Arms. The rest of the gang bought all kinds of stuff, will let them report. Although a highlight was Mike.357's purchase of a small but VERY SHARP folder, with free Band Aid. Nothing like the last show I went to at Expo mob wise, prices continue to creep down, lots of new handguns at or near best retail prices, long guns (especially the nasty ones) still inflated but not nearly as crazy as has been. Place about 90% full vendor wise, certainly as many as the last Jacobs show, but better spread out and lit. I think Georgia Arms must have made a long ago commitment to show up, as they really didn't seem to have anything like the variety and quantities in the past (no "Canned Heat" in .38 at all, and not as much 9mm either)... not even two deep at their booth at any time, unlike the past. All very enjoyable though, had as good a time as at any I've been to, otherwise wouldn't have stayed over 6 hours! And that's the quick news from Lake CashBegone. - OS
  4. Yes, it would seem that you could not legally enjoin a "rule" that now is the same as a passed law. However, the passed law isn't in effect until whenever in February. Does seem if someone simply appealed the injunction on the above basis, it would be lifted. Except the decision to lift might be withheld as long as February anyway, who knows. Just another silly mess from that federal government that is only there to help us. - OS
  5. Have been shooting 10/22 quite a bit since I got first one about 3 months ago. Yeah, the black paint will keep coming off; I've not made an effort to really get it all, just whatever comes off from spraying CLP in receiver area and wiping with rag/qtips whatever. Half the guys over on RFC don't even seem to clean the barrel until it starts shooting wild. Although I've cleaned mine after each session. Also, most don't even take it out of stock to clean. I only took mine out once so far, and that was when I changed to a folding stock. I have some of the Butler Creek steel lipped mags...none have been rock solid with anything but the higher priced Mini-Mags. My factory mags have been pretty rock solid though, with most everything I've run through them, and here's something that's the bee's knees, I love it!: More Trail Products
  6. Been carrying daily only about 9 months; my XD subbie weighs about same as your SW (zactly 2 lbs with 13+1)... About half the time can honestly say I don't feel it at all, 'bout half the time I'm aware of its presence. Got a good thick belt at least 1.5" wide? That sure can make a big diff. - OS
  7. Nice ole baby. Will it still be 26" or longer? Looks like would be close. - OS
  8. All of "stimulus fund" crap was passed because it was supposedly necessary RIGHT NOW, or everything would fold. The schedule is to have 70% spent by end of 2010. Right now! Right. Agreed, total BS. - OS
  9. The picture, "hoopsnakes", "blue racers chasing you", are all myths. Matter of fact, we don't even have Blue Racers in the south. We have one or more other varieties of Eastern Racers. - OS
  10. I generally don't respond here much, just read, but I'm sorry, that's just wrong, tnvolfan. Tennessee issues an HCP. That's Handgun Carry Permit. Many states' permits are indeed "concealed" permits, but not ours. While I do not open carry for various reasons, I respect everyone's choice who does. And it's perfectly legal, of course. best, - OS
  11. Just as real as them blue racers that chase you. - OS
  12. Format? We doan need no steekin format... Come on out, it's fun...bring all the ammo you can spare; if you like to shoot other folks' weapons, it's nice to be able to contribute some ammo toward that..I'll have 2 or 3 or 4 9mm devices myself... Paper targets, metal spinners, metal/paper plates, bottles (filled with water is great), cans, etc. I always bring a .22 or three on top of anything else ... got a pretty good stockpile of ammo, so I sure don't mind me or anybody else burning up 500-1000 rounds of that too. I've probably now shot at least 20 different weapons that I would NEVER have gotten to without these get togethers...even just a couple of shots through something you've never fired before is really nifty, just to see what they feel like... Hope to meet you... - OS
  13. Hmmm.... Well, then seems we might could have carried in a National Forest already... it's all giving me a headache. - OS
  14. \Cool...wasn't trying to be a snoot...excusame. My main point, though, was that National Forests are not mentioned in the new federal bill at all; they are also under a different agency than either of the two mentioned in the bill. - OS
  15. Which only allows you certain handguns you can carry due to barrel length, yes? And you must have a hunting license with something in season to hunt, yes? - OS
  16. State rule of National Forests? I never heard THAT. National Parks = US Dept of Interior National Wildlife Refuges = US Fish and Wildlife Service National Forests = US Forest Service I thought the state only controlled state parks and state Wildlife Management Areas. Who the frig knows anymore. - OS
  17. I'd think that no decision should be complete until you've looked at/shot one of those. - OS
  18. How so National Forest? The federal law is for National Parks and Federal Wildlife refuges. And that's not for 15 months. Also, even with the new state park proposed law, are TN WMA areas covered? - OS
  19. Well, let's see, by Federal law, maybe in 15 months we can carry in National Parks and National Wildife Refuge Areas... But still not National Forests, eh? - OS
  20. Back in the winter 'nooga folks met several times at Prentice Cooper...I get down there about every 6 weeks but I never was able to coincide with one... Start a thread, see if you can get the folks stirring for a get together down there. - OS
  21. I don't get why the DOI didn't appeal the injunction in the first place; same bureaucracy that went to all the trouble to instigate the rule must still be in place pretty much. Reckon O put the pressure on them not to do it? - OS
  22. Link didn't work...blank. I know the credit card part was indeed over a year, heard commentary on that, so guess the park carry is too? - OS
  23. Best I ever see for 00 or rifled slugs around here are 3.99 for 5 or the Remington 15 packs for nine bucks at Wally's... I got tired of picking up a few at a time, wanted stash, so got a bunch from ATG several weeks ago. Got: 250rds - 12 Gauge Federal LE Tactical Full Power 2 3/4 Hydra-Shok Slug 250rds - 12 gauge NobelSport LE 2 3/4 12 pellet 00 Buckshot 250rds - 12 gauge Fiocchi 2 3/4 High Velocity Nickel Plated 00 BuckShot That Nobel Sport is really hot stuff, kicks like 3.5 incher, even though also is only 2 3/4" and with TWELVE pellets in there....some really concentrated gunpowder for sure. Anyway, came out to about .75/shell counting shipping... - Oh "numero uno in zombie protection" Shoot
  24. All outstanding! My grandpa taught me to shoot, but we didn't have commando range in the back yard like yours! - OS
