Agreed. And it would seem that "intent to go armed" really means "intent to do harm with said weapon". Look at it this way, here's TN statute: "A person commits an offense who carries with the intent to go armed a firearm, a knife with a blade length exceeding four inches (4²), or a club." Now, first of all, I assume this was already the TN statute BEFORE HCP's were ever issued. Ergo, the verbiage "with the intent to go armed" must have a meaning beyond simple possession of those implements. Otherwise, why use the phrase at all, since simply carrying one of those implements would suffice? In the case of a club, it's rather obvious. Nobody is going to question your carrying a baseball bat from a ballfield, but walking down main street with it might indicate a sinister intent. Etc.... My point being, "intent to go armed" is an undefined phrase, used at the convenience of police, prosecutors, etc. No? - OS <table style="width: 502px; height: 45px;" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr> <td rowspan="2"> </td> <td colspan="1" height="12"> </td> <td rowspan="2"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="1"> </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

The LaFollette statute discussed says you can "intend to go armed" with other stuff than a gun. Including an otherwise legal knife as defined by state law. - OS

If you have a dog who adores you, you should also have a cat who ignores you. Keeps things in perspective. - OS
-
Yeah, but according to them, your 4" (or even less) knife is illegal. Of course, nowhere in TCA (or presumably LaFollette) is "intent to go armed" actually defined. - OS

That's nuts. There are no federal or state laws against that. ANYbody else will ship mags directly to you. Even Hi-Point. - OS

Although no one has expressed any curiosity regarding this issue, I HAVE found that these are two different posting issues, found in two different statutes. 1- The one with exact dimensions and verbiage must be used in parks/rec areas/buildings 2- The "substantially similar" is for all other places which want to post, like restaurants, malls, whatever. The information on TFO is incorrect, using 1 as example of a business posting. - OS

One gone, one left. First PM gets it. - OS

Methinks these sites will get more places to properly post. It might be different if HCP folks were a lot more than about 3% of the TN population. Oh well...whatever..."interesting times", I guess. - OS

Guys, got to thinking about the possibility of the striker retainer pin breaking in either of my XDs and ordered a couple of packs of 3 each just in case. PISTOLGEAR | YOUR ONE-STOP SHOP FOR ALL SPRINGFIELD XD Anyway, keeping 2 each for my two XD's, and thought somebody else might want one to stash. I guess they fit all of the first crop of XDs, I guess XDM also, assuming it uses same arrangement, the page doesn't really say, guess you could check at XDtalk. Please, just one each to two folks, okay? Just PM me your address. - OS

Yeah. It's a freakin federal highway. Btw, knives with 4" or less blades are legal here, folders or straight. - OS -
Assuming it's not creaking/squeaking "internally", meaning two stitched layers moving against themselves (which would indicate a poorly made holster), the two common fixes are: - If back of holster is squeaking against belt, baby/talcum powder. - If it's happening in the belt slots against belt, wax. Like rubbing inside of slots with candle, or even dripping some candle wax from burning candle in there and let harden. Then again, maybe only your gal hears it and she is indeed simply going crazier the longer she is with you! zing! - OS

WalMart at Knoxville Center had WWB 9mm 100 packs. 6 or 8. I bought two just as a matter of form. They also had 50 round boxes of Winchester 9mm "Win Clean". About twice the price - I hadn't seen those before... No .22 bulk, though, what I was really sorta looking for. - OS

This came up in another thread. Glockmeister quoted from TFA site and says he thinks Michie's info is outdated: -------------- "Tennessee law (T.C.A. § 39-17-1359) provides: An individual, corporation, business entity or local, state or federal government entity or agent thereof is authorized to prohibit the possession of weapons by any person otherwise authorized by §§ 39-17-1351 -- 39-17-1360, at meetings conducted by, or on premises owned, operated, or managed or under control of such individual, corporation, business entity or government entity. Notice of such prohibition shall be posted. Posted notices shall be displayed in prominent locations, including all public entrances, shall be in English, and shall be at least six inches (6") high and fourteen inches (14") wide, stating: PURSUANT TO T.C.A. § 39-17-1359, THE OWNER/OPERATOR OF THIS PROPERTY HAS BANNED WEAPONS WITHIN THIS BUILDING OR THIS PORTION OF THIS BUILDING. A VIOLATION OF THIS PROHIBITION IS PUNISHABLE AS A CRIMINAL ACT UNDER STATE LAW AND MAY BE SUBJECT TO A FINE OF NOT MORE THAN $500." ------------ And this is from Michie's: -------------- "39-17-1359. Prohibition at certain meetings — Posting notice. — (a) An individual, corporation, business entity or local, state or federal government entity or agent thereof is authorized to prohibit the possession of weapons by any person otherwise authorized by §§ 39-17-1351 — 39-17-1360, at meetings conducted by, or on property owned, operated, or managed or under the control of the individual, corporation, business entity or government entity. Notice of the prohibition shall be posted. Posted notices shall be displayed in prominent locations, including all entrances primarily used by persons entering the building, portion of the building or buildings where weapon possession is prohibited. If the possession of weapons is also prohibited on the premises of the property as well as within the confines of a building located on the property, the notice shall be posted at all entrances to the premises that are primarily used by persons entering the property. The notice shall be in English but a notice may also be posted in any language used by patrons, customers or persons who frequent the place where weapon possession is prohibited. In addition to the sign, notice may also include the international circle and slash symbolizing the prohibition of the item within the circle. The sign shall be of a size that is plainly visible to the average person entering the building, premises or property and shall contain language substantially similar to the following: PURSUANT TO § 39-17-1359, THE OWNER/OPERATOR OF THIS PROPERTY HAS BANNED WEAPONS ON THIS PROPERTY, OR WITHIN THIS BUILDING OR THIS PORTION OF THIS BUILDING. FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THIS PROHIBITION IS PUNISHABLE AS A CRIMINAL ACT UNDER STATE LAW AND MAY SUBJECT THE VIOLATOR TO A FINE OF NOT MORE THAN FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500)." ---------- I can't find any other link into TCA except for Michie's. So I've become rather unsure just what the statute really says? - OS edit: gonna email John Harris about this. edit 2: anybody know his username here? I can't find an email addy and only "contact" on TFA site is within the forum.

You've seen me shoot. People in grass houses shouldn't store thrones...or something like that. - Oh "there's a BARN there?" Shoot

Doubly confused now. You're right, Michie's doesn't show the stature this way at all. No mention there of size of notice, and in this version, there's no mention of the "substantially similar". I also can't find any other inroad into the TCA except for Michie's. I had seen this above quoted somewhere previously, but assumed that was a new entry into the statutes mandated by one of the ones adopted this session. How do we know what's the real verbiage? - OS

According to Ruger site, all the SuperSingle 6's are both .22/.22WMR and all have adjustable rear sites. The only non-convertible they show is a blued .17 with 6.5" barrel. - OS

I just chuck 'em. If you want to make them really safe, pull the bullet with pliers and dump the powder. - OS
-
Is that specified in the new statute? (because exact size isn't mentioned in 39-17-1359). Actually, I've lost track here - where IS the exact verbiage of the new "bar" statute change? thnx in advance - OS

My Granddad strung barbed wire on the Hindenburg Line with a mule team. He taught me to shoot and fish and drive. My Dad was in third wave on Omaha Beach. He lived to not talk about it. But cancer got him 10 years ago. Just finished watching Saving Private Ryan on TCM again. So, much on my mind re all that. - OS
