  1. Righto, just checking. Several of our members seem to see them everywhere. Next to the pink elephants. :-) - OS

    Trip to Alabama

Stop and help with bail if you see an old red S-10 and me "assuming the position" on I-59. I'm goin' to little burg east of B'ham to see some old friends. - OS
  3. It's not teflon, and is still used on some of their rifle bullets. It's tradename is Lubalox. And it is indeed a bore protector, not a piercing enhancer. - OS

    Trip to Alabama

So happens I'm goin down to Alabammy myself this weekend. Bama is an open carry state, without permit, except in vehicle. But much anecdotal evidence that in reality, you are quite likely to be hassled by LEOs for doing it. - OS

Yes, in every state. Won't it be nice to have your permit? - OS
  6. See many down around 'nooga, do ya? - OS
  7. That right? CCI/Speer are same, and make Blazer Federal makes Federal/American Eagle. Sure they are all one? - OS
  8. Welcome to site, with username that everyone loves to hate. I bought HP C9 at last gun show in Knoxville for 149.00 and had previously bought HP carbine for 199.00 in the past from same folks. T&T Sporting Goods in Selmer TN 877-645-9922 or 731 645 9922 You might call them and see if they'll be at any gun shows you could reach in the next little bit. Or get them to ship to your FFL, once you decide on one. - OS
  9. "Tumbling" doesn't hardly describe it. Looks like they were sliding into home! - OS
  10. Great stuff there, coach ... great vid of the tracer onslaught. I think y'all got SHTF covered over there ... reminds me of the senator's ranch in Lucifer's Hammer! - OS
  11. Borrow a python or boa from Bkelm. Easier to keep track of. I'd just let them cheep for a week or two...actually, seems kinda late in the season for baby boids - maybe they're something rare, like condors or something. Geez, maybe even chimney swifts. - OS
  12. Except for the maybe one or two that you have stuffed, what happens to all the 'yotes y'all kill? Just bury them after a pic? Mulligan stew? - OS
  13. The park carry statute (even the old one, presumably enacted at same time) specifies the signage exactly, both size and wording. Why this clear definition was not also applied to businesses is just indicative of the slapdash nature of the TN legislative process. - OS
  14. Gander Mountain always has some. Like couple of other posters here, I have old Remington Fieldmaster pump, which feeds .22 short, .22 long, and .22 long rifle fine, even intermixed. About a year ago, I shot up about a hundred old .22 shorts in the Fieldmaster and H&R revolver; the carts were certainly no younger than than the 1960's. I don't recall any duds, but ironically, I certainly usually have one or two duds per hundred (or more) in current bulk load .22 LRs. Guess "they don't make 'em like they used to" applies. - OS
  15. NEF (New England Firearms) is part of H&R1871, which bought assets of Harrington & Richardson, which is a division of Marlin. That complicated enough? Although doesn't say onsite, I've read that NEF weapons are either made/assembled in China, or assembled in US from Chinese made components. Most everyone says they are perfectly adequate shotguns. But "same" as a Remmie 870? Well.... - OS
  16. I'm retired (far as I can tell) from a bunch of stuff for little over a year now. Longest stint was at UT (photographer, writer, 'puter stuff, etc: I shot the Vol coaching films), lastly as Fedex Ground contractor running around in Sevier County for 3 years. I don't know how I ever found the time to work! - OS
  17. This is only a recommendation, yes? So won't get acted upon till next session? - OS
  18. I just can't, I say CAN'T, believe you go into this much detail about a rare gun and don't post a picture. Bad, I say, BAD boy! - OS
  19. Best ribs in the universe right over near you at Scruggs. - OS
  20. Right. How has "not infringed" come to be so amazingly disregarded? - OS
  21. I want to be able to walk with my loaded shotgun, one in the chamber, through a city park, and into a bar and have a few beers. - OS
  22. No, not permanent. Any Class A, you surrender permit after being charged. If found guilty, you don't get it back for duration of sentence, including probation. Oddly, though, you CAN lose it permanently for "public meeting" (business) posting violation, and that's only a Class C. You can also lose it, though, if they want to take the trouble to say you "pose a danger to the public". - OS
  23. Yeah, I use one of those cheapie v-shaped things, but follow with diamond triangle shaped rod. The rod edge can be used on serrations, too. Agree that a nice old whetstone just doesn't "cut" it for stainless blades of any kind. My two main ones are AUS8A and VG-1 stainless. - OS
  24. I've settled in on Cold Steel 4" Voyager or 4" Recon 1. - OS
  25. I thought it took thousands of years minimum to form a decent river. Y'all must be GOOD. - OS
