  1. Nice old Baretta...shot everything we put in it, no probs..1 orig. mag. Says Gardone VT model 948 on it. Says either 1955 or 1956 on it, sort of looks like last digit is a strikeover or something. I'd say mechanically it's aces, finish has some wear and numerous tiny dings, hard to say, maybe 6-7 out of 10 overall. Ballpark estimate on worth? Thanks guys.
  2. According to my bud's serial number research, this is 1936 Colt Woodsman. It shot great today with copper jacketed/washed .22 LR. Has one original mag, accessories, docs, box. Gun in GREAT condition, surely a 9 out of 10. What ballpark price should he be considering on this baby?
  3. Hey y'all...at a friends house out of state, shot a buncha guns today and he has 3 nifty old shootin irons that he's thinkin 'bout selling and buying some modern stuff. This is a nice old 1920 Commercial Luger, chambered for "30 Luger/7.65 Parabellum", apprx. 7.25" "artillery" barrel apparently manufactured by DWM in Germany. Thing shoots fine, but he doesn't have an orig. mag for it, bought a modern mag that's supposed to be same, fits well, but have feeding probs with jam at ramp, and since we don't have an original mag to compare, don't know if a fluff and buff would help and didn't want to change anything on original finish, even internally, to experiment. At any rate, he's just wanting to get a realistic idea of what it might bring. I'd call the gun at least an 8 out of 10.
  4. David, I'm in 'Bama on friend's box, I login to main site all good, try to see an individual ad in Firearms for Sale, shows me NOT logged in, won't accept login. What can be up with that? - OS
  5. try this concealed carry trip planner: Carry Concealed - OS
  6. How precisely you want to define "criminal"? You ever broke speed limit? Ever carried a pocket knife into a post office with blade 2.5" or longer? You not see a difference between a pound of pot and forcible rape? etc... - OS
  7. It dams the Tennessee River, how could it not be? - OS

  9. Yeah, I only get about 2.4 million results. Did you know that "gullible" isn't in any dictionary? - OS
  10. Far as I know, until the can develops the first pin hole allowing oxidation, it's good practically "forever". "Good" meaning "won't hurt you". - OS
  11. Whatever works for you, works for me. He does sell "J Hooks" option which DOES go behind the belt and over the pants with belt riding on the bottom curl, maybe you got those? Here are the standard hooks, that attach TO the belt: - OS
  12. Yeah, WinClean. Maybe Federal has similar, I dunno. Hey, btw, I researched that stuff a little after talking to you...sure enough, the shelf life of those "clean" primers seems to be 10 years or less in optimum storage. - OS
  13. I don't get that comment? ... The standard metal clips are designed to clip directly ONTO belt, hence the bottom knurls on them, to keep it from coming loose off the belt when you draw. I guess you can just clip to pants, but they are designed for belts up to 1 3/4" wide. - OS
  14. Well, ya know, one is leather/kydex and one is all leather, so that's a first major decision right there. I'm all leather guy myself, except for a pocket holster for a Kahr, in which case the thinner the better. Certainly, I like David Bullard's stuff, I have 3 Dual Carries and one BodyGuard. I really like the idea of belt loops though, and his holsters just aren't designed for those. He has an add on option, but they are too bulky for my taste. Anyway, I've been very very pleased with daily carry with XD SC and Dual Carry for going on about 10 months now. But I also admit I have a TT Gunleather IWB on order, just to try out another style (with belt loops). But obviously the Crossbreed will serve you well also; it and the MTAC probably have between them 25% of the entire IWB holster market! - OS
  15. I think they need larger grips. - OS
  16. Why should a non-violent felony conviction deny one from owning a gun, or even getting a carry permit? "restraining orders/orders of protection" are another big source of potential injustice in this regard, also. - OS
  17. The previous Dept of Interior rule specified concealed carry only. But my understanding of the new law is that is it is simply based on each state's carry laws. So that in states where no permit is required to open carry, you could do so in National Park in that state, etc. So you could open carry at Shenandoah National Park in VA with no permit at all from anywhere, for example. - OS
  18. Must have escaped from the zoo or private collector, since they are not indigenous to TN. - OS
  19. Yep, gotta agree...matter of fact, it's a little difficult to believe that $200 or less CAN buy something like the HP carbine. Helluva hundred yard gun, love mine. I bought a Browning Nomad .22 pistol in college from friend for $40, kept it all through the years, shot it now and then, only had the one original mag, it never malfunctioned and I even killed a BUNCH of rabbits (not on the run, a different story) and a few squirrels with it... course it was only a "cheapie" because I got it cheap, wasn't really an inexpensive gun... (not my pic) traded it at gun show about 4 years ago for old Charter Undercover, cause I had no big bore handgun at the time, but had two .22 pistols. And here's another favorite cheapie pistol, an old H&R .22. Might be worth $125, but shoots fine. Matter of fact, I used it to get my HCP. - OS
  20. Ya know, I've probably seen more rattlers than copperheads in my life, even though they say copperheads are much more prevalent. And I've seen most all of them just like how you describe, right out in the open, curled or just stretched out, sunning or whatever, on trails, on flat rocky areas, on top of roofing tiles and other junk. They seem to like to do that, where copperheads seem to prefer to stay hidden. I guess they know they're bad ass mothers, and flaunt it. - OS
  21. I shouldn't have said "righto" in response to 22-rimfire. Was really just meaning East TN run of the TN river, where he is... I'm used to many folks in east and middle TN claiming to see cottonmouths all the time and thought that was going to be another instance to debunk. - OS
  22. All you have to do is hearken back to the McCarthy blacklist fiasco to know the power and abuse of government "lists". You're either legal to possess weapons under current federal and state laws, or you're not. We don't need a "possible bad guy so you can't buy a gun" list. Shades of Minority Report. I'm not sure I even agree with all the laws preventing all felons from possessing them either. - OS
  23. Yes, of course there are cottonmouths in West Tennessee. I'd be surprised if there were many, especially in the concentrations you mention, as far east as the northern run of the TN river, but if you say so. - OS
  24. Yeah, in these days, lots of familiar names are owned by unfamiliar ones. They likely still operate about as independently as before. Lots of that in the arms biz: S&W/Walther, Marlin/NEF/H&R, Taurus/Rossi, many others. - OS
  25. Hard to defend a burg that brags about having red clay dirt. - OS
