  1. There are things you shouldn't admit on a forum like this y'know. - OS
  2. Ah, kinda wondered. Hey, why not go top of the line and get the Kahr .380? Held one at last gunshow here...fantastic ergonomics. Since I love my PM9, even though they are pricey, I'd definitely buy one if for some reason I wanted a .380. - OS
  3. Certainly Beltman Bullhide 1.5" is among the top choices. Gun Belts by The Belt Man I'd rather not spend a C note on a belt either, so his are only about $87 with shipping. - OS
  4. They used to claim just about that when they first cranked up. Have toned it down some since. Used to have Hot Ninja Babes promo. Now have toned down to a couple of Mandrell sisters. - OS
  5. No time period specified, so I'm confident it's legit to add/remove any time down the road. - OS
  6. Lordie, what does he WANT out of gun? That's like asking whether to get a .22 or .30-06 rifle! - OS
  7. I saw the little tab extensions right away, but STILL didn't get it. Maybe younger hormones would have triggered the correct synapse? - Oh "agree it's pretty tasteless" Shoot
  8. One caveat: beware WinClean! Or any others with "enviro safe" primers. - OS
  9. I don't see how ANYbody can comfortably carry IWB right at 3:00. Most carry on around behind the point of the hip. Or in front of it, if appendix type carry. - OS
  10. That must have been after you left the range. Hey, great report, thanks so much for posting! Gonna PM you, see I can get the group pics in higher rez... - OS
  11. I prefer the DRT stuff that will shoot through a telephone pole but not the cat behind it. Kills cape buffalo but won't go through sheet rock. Great stuff. - OS
  12. Why didn't you plant some peppers and tomatoes? - OS
  13. Yep, makes armed revolution that much more difficult. See my post above. You can blame the EPA more than O, I'd venture. - OS
  14. He's actually partially right, in a very faint way, maybe, sort of. Some Wallies I've been to recently are carrying WinClean ammo, which is "environmentally friendly" ammo. The bullet is fully jacketed (meaning the base is too, unlike FMJ) but the biggest diff is the primer, has no heavy metals. Although I can't find the exact info on Winchester's site, it seems widely accepted that the shelf life of those primers is 10 years or less, stored in optimum conditions. Also note that it is just about exactly twice as expensive as WWB FMJ. It's also packaged in a white box. 50 rounds of 9mm is ~26 bucks. - OS
  15. I sold old Davenport through Coal Creek on consignment about 9 months ago. It went for big bucks, made both me and JWP flush ($60.00) Here's some info: "W.H. Davenport was a shotgun maker located at 790 Orange Street in Providence Rhode Island circa 1880-1883. He reorganized his business in Norwich Connecticut in 1890 and operated through 1900. He is known mostly for his top-break single action shotguns, but he also made a lever action with sliding breech lock." - OS
  16. You know that's TGO's own 'Nooga based MouseGunner ? - OS
  17. Hey man, this is Tennersee. I'd suggest an old heap up on blocks, cut roof off, fill with dirt and plant stuff in in. I've always thought that was a pretty classy look. - OS
  18. Guy I worked with years ago used to grow his spuds in stacks of auto tires. He'd start out with a couple, and as the top of the plant got larger, he'd add a tire and more dirt, like that. Think he went 6 or 7 tires high, best I remember. I was there for harvest day once, kick over the tire stacks, spuds everywhere! - OS
  19. It is a defense of carrying >4" knife if it is: "(4) Incident to lawful hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, sport shooting or other lawful activity;" As with most "gray" areas, it's up to the LEO as to whether you would be charged. Carrying on the way to hike in the mountains: probably not. Stop off at a bar and get into an altercation: probably would. Once you're "engaged" in the activity, mostly safe. Etc. Of course any LEO might charge you with something if you piss them off. BACK ON TOPIC, I have 2 of the whopper Ka-Bars: the 9" blade bowie and the 8" camp knife. Haven't really used them. Heck, I might not - I just really like them. It makes me smile to hold them. Ka-Bar makes some of the best and most durable knives in the world. There's a reason their USMC fighting knife has been used by every branch of our military at one time or another. - OS
  20. You'll get two opinions on these questions. Nobody's car has ever been searched in a post office parking lot. (except maybe a postal employee's who has gone, you know, postal). - OS

    NEED HELP!!

I'd agree that though the law reads somewhat gray, its intent is that you may have no DUI/DWI convictions in the last 5 years. I assume that when they do the background check, yours would show up, but then again, interstate data bases can be imperfect, so it's conceivable it would not. It's my understanding that you can pay to have a relatively inexpensive similar background check run on yourself in TN, to see if it shows. Any Class A misdemeanor (which DUI is in TN), if you have a TN permit, you lose it for the duration of the sentence (including probation time), but DUI is treated even more harshly than many others, hence the 5 year thing. Your DUI conviction will not keep you from buying guns and possessing loaded guns in your residence in our fair state. However, as others have pointed out, you can not carry loaded handguns or long guns in your vehicle without a HCP. Ammo can not be "readily accessible" to the unloaded gun in the vehicle either. - OS
  22. Yep, I've always wondered if this doesn't exempt anyone who can legally carry a gun in the state in which the federal facility exists. And I would also suppose that any other "dangerous weapon" that is not proscribed by state law for that particular individual's possession would be same. (which includes specifically knives of 2.5" or greater). - OS
  23. I had a swell time. I went extremely high end on a new scope for my mighty Plinkster, and fortunately it proved worthy of the $16.95. Eventually. After I had to shoot at something twenty yards away to find that it was only shooting about 2 feet high. Good to see hkusp40cal again. Seems we must buy/sell something each time we meet now. And great to meet BillOfRightsFan, all the way from NashVegas! Thanks for letting me shoot your sweet AR. By the way, he took some pix which should appear here after the weekend ... at least one should prove, um, interesting. - OS
  24. Yep, a mile or so along on Norris Freeway (441) from Norris, something runs across the road. I thought briefly it was the biggest black standard poodle in the world. It was, of course, a bear. Guessing a year old, pretty big already but skinny and ungainly. But it made quick work of crossing the road! Really. Seriously. I kid you not. - OS
