  1. Well, your place has it all over Chilhowee Park in Knoxville food wise. Ours has death dogs and yellow chemical emulsion they put on nachos. And that's the GOOD stuff. - OS
  2. Garufa doesn't waste time on any steel with teeny calibers like that. He would have vaporized one only rated for .22. - OS
  3. Only two real mentions so far that I'm aware of. 1. First week of August city and/or county council are to have first discussion, dunno if actual action has been set. More of a debate apparently than I thought. Seems to be a move to ban SOME parks, mainly the ones that have ballfields and the the greenways that go "through school" property or somesuch. 2. the city (or county, I forget which) law director, I think (a woman, whoever she is) made a statement that as far as she was concerned, the parks are still legally banned even without signage, since this was enacted way back in the 60's or some s**t. Sounds pretty bogus to me, since of course NObody could legally carry back then, cept LEOs. edit: she must be city law director, come to think of it, since county law director, Bill Lockett, is still under pressure to resign and/or be charged with some felonies and whatnot...haven't kept up with his fiasco. We'll see...I AM surprised there has been very little hubbub about it all compared to other big towns. Mayor Wimp Haslam refused to be pinned down as to his exact opinion. He's learned to ride the fence from Gov. Wimp Bredeson. - OS
  4. Nope, still wants a login. - OS
  5. There today at opening till little after noon with Mike.357. Smallest crowd I've seen at a show in a year. Yah, I could but chortle at all the Wally World ammo still unsold there, most of it still way too high. I might even pay 5% or so over value just for convenience sometimes, but not 30-50%! New handgun prices, which I have a better handle on than long guns, were way down from last show there. J Frames for $435, XDs for $479, Glocks $500-525, etc. For you Hi-Point carbine freaks (like me), T&T had one of the new tacticool editions 995 with the new frame, for $50 more than the standard one. I prefer the old ugliness to the new one myself. I just got a few doolollies, couple boxes of .357 Hornady Leverevolution to try in my 1894 (bout same price as elsewhere), a sling for same that holds 30 rounds, couple ammo boxes (even they were back down to normal - retouced 30 caliber ones with good seals for $5), little lightweight bipod. Nice non-frenetic show, but I'd say the dealers are hatin' it; the frantic buying spree seems suspended at least for a while. Might be a buyer's market for a while, especially with so many folks facing hard times and having to sell off guns rather than buy more, seems. Hate to see the market go down because of that reason, though. If the ammo makers can ever catch up and prices go down there, that would be the biggest good thing over all. - OS
  6. Guess I was too subtle - my main point was that glaucoma is not a fatal condition. - OS
  7. Good post, but not a credible finish I'm afraid. - OS
  8. Well, THAT'S an exaggeration, but thanks. - OS
  9. Yah, been reading your thread on that... Mine don't seem to be tumbling though, just seems like they have their own little random guidance programs built in. I'm guessing that Garufa may be closest though...the powder may be slow burning enough that maybe it isn't even burning evenly or something, more pressure on one side of projectile as it leaves the 2.25" barrel? I haven't noticed any big flames out of it though. They really do seem to be okay out of the lever rifle. I don't have a longer barrel wheelie to test in. - OS
  10. Be wary and leery too. SP101 is a great weapon. For carry, it's just big and heavy enough to preclude pocket carry for most. On the upside, it conceals great IWB and you can hammer nails with it all day, and still have feeling in your hands. I'd be carrying mine now, but finally decided I was more comfy with 14 rounds than 5. Porting it? Well, whatever.
  11. Have you ever kept a gun over a year? ! - OS
  12. I like em like a homely ole dawg:
  13. That's the one next to the biker bar I'm pretty sure? I pop in there most times I'm in Nooga. Everything I've seen in there is at least 20% higher than elsewhere. HiPoint carbine was $265 for example. But hey, if they really do have $500 glocks, that's good. Maybe they got some special deal. - OS
  14. Great price, enjoy! - OS
  15. T&T will probably be at the Chilhowee show this weekend. They always have some at just under MSRP. I gave $149.99 for C9 a few months ago with them. Also bought the 995 carbine from them back in the winter for $199.99. - OS
  16. Nope, no elongated holes. Front sight on gun not bent, there is no rear sight on SP101, just groove in top of frame. Barrel not particular fouled. Pretty much same random inaccuracy with the .357 and .38. I'm going to try them one more time, with really controlled test using monopod again next time at the range. With another person to witness and shoot also. If it's still as wild as previous experience, maybe I'll send a couple of cylinders' worth to 56FordGuy, let him try them. I don't have a huge number of them, maybe 100 or so .357 left, and 250 .38, so it's not a huge concern all in all, I guess. Just never quite seen anything so drastic as this. - OS
  17. oops, dupe. Turned into newbie again or something.
  18. Never even noticed a sign when driving over there. I've often walked the levee/greenway trail from Brainerd over to Camp Jordan; didn't realize I was in another town there! - OS
  19. 4 posts above you: "There is no SAMMI spec for it"... Should be "SAAMI", sorry. It's an undefined term. Georgia Arms sells both a +p and +p+ 115 grain 9mm Gold Dot hollowpoint round. The +p claims 1250 fps and the +p+ 1300 fps. That's how they delineate it, but you'd have to compare with what other makers claim just to see how gray a standard it is. Of course, SAAMI standards, as I understand them, are maximum safe recommendations, and most makers stay under it. I've often heard it said that NATO 9mm is at least +p and maybe higher, but I have no factoids to point to. It does seem valid though, that the Springfield, with it's supported chamber, is more likely to safely shoot rounds that might KaBoom a Glock. This seems almost entirely related to .40, though. - OS
  20. Squeeze the lips inward till you can barely get the shells loaded. Mags, by the way, are $17 each (includes shipping) directly from Hi-Point. - OS
  21. Some of the folks who show up at the Norris range ain't the brightest. (good catch ) - OS
  22. Yeah, it's only an inch longer, 1/2 inch taller, 1/4" thicker than my XD subbie - and holds 8+1 vs. 13+1. And weighs more than the XD. Well, mine has fed and fired about 150 rounds perfectly, so far. Accuracy is generally within 5" of POA at 10 yards, randomly with each shot. This with playing with sight adjustment each time I've shot it. It seems to have a "tendency of the day". It is, however, quite a bit more accurate than my Cobra .38 derringer. It's never a good thing when warranty is touted as a primary strength. I think I might have to use it, though, if I were ever foolish enough to take it apart! $149.99 from T&T at most sizable TN gun shows. But c'mon...nobody should recommend carrying a Hi-Point to a newbie. There are reasons to own one, but carrying it for self-protection ain't one of them. Actually, I have the HP 995 carbine, too...I'd be okay with someone carrying THAT! - OS
  23. Bro, 9mm pistol and carbine Hi-Point mags are $15-$18 delivered. Really. - OS
  24. That's why they make different guns - among other reasons, I chose the XD largely because of the grip safety. - OS
  25. I've had quite a few replacement cards issued through the years. ATT Universal Card MasterCard. Mine used to get a crack across it in wallet, and split about half way through issue period. Called, new card, no fees. They improved the plastic or something, haven't had to do that in several years now. Maybe they've instituted a fee for it now, I dunno. Also get $200-400 bucks back a year on it, depending on how much I charge with it. I generally use it for everything I can, even quickie purchases at Kroger or whatever. - OS
