  1. The word "gullible" is not found in American dictionaries. - OS
  2. What's a nat?
  3. Soon as can prove residency. TN DL obviously best way since HCP is same number. I don't know how TNDOS handles folks without a driver's license. - OS
  4. Well, you already can't carry a long gun (loaded), and I don't think they can override state knife law. - OS
  5. While my XD grips are of course symmetric, I keep decal grip on the right handed side, none on the left, making them a tad "asymmetrical". - my hand doesn't really reach totally around it, and most of the grip is obtained from right side, front strap, and thumb contact - it doesn't sand off my hip carrying IWB (I don't wear undershirts). - OS
  6. Dropping the safety "slidelock" will NOT release the slide like on most semi-autos. It's not a true slidestop in that sense. He is not pulling the slide back after inserting the new mag. There is NO reason to use the safety/slide lock during reload operation of the Hi-Point. It is for holding up the slide for cleaning or dis-assembly. Or for use as a safety when the slide is closed. If a shell won't load because of a jamming issue, then it's almost certainly a mag issue, but he's having the same prob with full or empty mags, so it's almost certainly he isn't pulling back on slide far enough when inserting a mag, loaded or empty one. - OS
  7. He's never said that. - OS
  8. What does that have to do with Camp Jordan? Chattanooga Creek abuts part of it. I guess if you want to boat on Chattanooga Creek, you might well be legal (until you touch shore on park ground). - OS
  9. Here's pocket holster I use with PM9, from Stellarrigs.com: - OS
  10. There is NOTHING WRONG with the gun. Pull the slide back with an empty mag. Slide locks open. The only thing that will free it is to remove mag or replace with loaded one and pull slide back and release. Yours works the same. If it doesn't, then it IS broken. - OS
  11. Again, read the manual. Link has been posted. There is no reason to use the safety in between magazines. It will hold the slide open, but it's primary purpose is as a safety once the slide is closed. It will not release the slide - you must still pull back on the slide by hand after removing empty mag or inserting loaded one. The only reason to use this lever to hold the slide open is for cleaning or to break the gun down. - OS
  12. Yes, I understand. The empty mag triggers internal slide lock. The slide won't go forward again until it is dropped or loaded mag is inserted. I have one. I assure you it is SUPPOSED to work this way. Call Hi-Point if you don't believe little ole me. edit: to save embarrassment, you can read the manual where this is stated. - OS
  13. That's the way they are supposed to work. Empty mag locks slide back. - OS
  14. I've bought from Randy's twice, most recently a week ago. The price quoted to me had sales tax added on top. And it was for cash. Plastic use would be 3 or 4 per cent more (I forget which). But they didn't charge TICS fee. Actually, it's against CC companies policy to charge more for using plastic. But it must still be okay to charge less for cash, dunno. The item in question, they may have a different pricing just for that item, dunno. - OS
  15. I don't know if that means "out the door" or not (includes tax), but Randy's adds 3 or 4 % for credit card payment. AFAIK, all the prices shown are for cash sale. - OS
  16. I see no one has jumped on the topic yet, so I'll kick it off, even though I only own the XD SC. I never bought the G26, but have shot one on a number of occasions. Shot a G26 just a couple of weeks ago, matter of fact. My EDC decision came down to one of the two about a year ago. Size: there's not 1/4" difference in any dimension between the two. Weight: G26 is lighter by several ounces Capacity: XD SC: 13+1 (although when I bought it, was only 10+1, same as G26) Finish: "Tennifer" and "Melonite" equally durable. Other features: XD has grip safety, visual/tactile loaded chamber and cocked indicators. Shootability: I shoot both the same with sights, XD wins for me on point shooting. I actually slightly prefer the Glock's stock sights. Reliability: Any claimed differences are just kool-aid induced. It's a close call, and I'm sure I would be happy with G26, but I decided on XD. Balance beam was tipped by 2 major factors: - It simply points more on target for me - The grip safety is a great comfort to me. The loaded/cocked indicators are slick, but that the flush fit mag has been redesigned to hold 13, that's even a bigger plus to me - 13+1 within the overall small dimensions seems like magic. Both fine choices, and certainly if the XD subbie didn't exist, I'd be toting a G26 daily. - OS
  17. Is it the same bullet as in the Federal 550 packs they sold for a good while? 36 gr, copper plated, very small diameter hollow point, just has an F on back? - OS
  18. Easy way to cook outdoors just over fire assuming you're got something to hold the pot: just slow simmer half-squirrels in enough water to cover everything, throw in onions, carrots, whatever you've got, then at the end add "easy dumplins" by just taking canned buscuits, tear them into thirds or so and dump those in till cooked but still nice and soft. - OS
  19. What's the logic with that? If you're going to keep it unloaded, why add to deployment time by having to first pull out an empty mag? Two loaded mags alongside a gun is still an unloaded gun. With more rounds available if necessary. Ah, you've finally admitted the crux of the problem. - OS
  20. He fixed it: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/gunsmithing-troubleshooting/25499-i-repaired-my-22-a.html - OS
  21. You can't "train" her not to touch it until she's competent with it? If that incident had been a home invasion, there's a decent chance you wouldn't be fretting about this issue. Or anything else, ever. - OS
  22. Not meaning to be unkind, but my first thought is that YOU need some instruction. What are you thinking of, keeping an unloaded firearm as your home "protection"? - OS
  23. They call it "Black Matte", but it's really just more of a paint, starts coming off down inside receiver on first shooting. Seems to stay on barrel pretty well, but once enough of it peels off outside of receiver, a lot of folks just strip it down to the metal. It's the same on many of the models, although some of the more expensive ones are actually blued I believe. It's nothing like say, the black finish on their revolvers, or the black finish on Remington shotguns (which I believe is indeed called powdercoating). Whatever it is, you do NOT want that exact same thing on your old baby. - OS
  24. See, all I have to do is claim one thing, and the truth comes out! - OS
  25. Never sell/trade a handgun you really like. Unless you have 10 or more. Maybe 20 or more, actually. Buy another. If you can't afford one right now, wait until you can. - OS
