  1. For various reasons, I didn't go; and yeah, I feel the guilt. On the other hand, I'm pretty sure ole Oh Shoot wouldn't couldn't swing it one way or the other. Anyway, the "workshop" City Council session is happening now... it's live on Knoxville Community TV starting right now. Channel 12 on Comcast. - OS
  2. Me and Mikey the .357 will be thar right about 1. I've mostly just been diggin' shooting my .22s last couple weeks, but I'm sure I'll wanna run my new Blackhawk some on the pistol range, too. Might have to dirty up the 1894 again, too.. Speaking of which, I'll have some various .357 and .38 loads I can front you or whatever if your ammo doesn't make it, so bring that ole wheelie along. - OS
  3. I have both XD 9 Subcompact and XD 9 Service. The 16 round mags from the service fit the subbie and with the "x tension" (plastic insert) the two guns feel pretty much the same in the hand. I don't shoot IDPA, but would imagine the shorter barrel of the various subcompact models would be more of a factor than the grip arrangement, meaning accuracy wise. - OS
  4. Yeah, I'd field strip, clean and lube and get another 100 through it before I called Kahr. They really want you to have 200 through one of their guns before they'll give much credence to a problem. Make sure rails are lubed ... Kahrs like to run "wettish", especially until broken in. - OS
  5. Yah, my Blackhawk .357 weighs 2.5 lbs unloaded. And it has the short 4 5/8" barrel. - OS
  6. I don't believe I'd diss any gun for a part failure at a quarter of a million rounds! But the Uberti at 100 rounds is quite a different echelon of (non)durability. Thanks for fleshing out your comments with more info... - OS
  7. I suppose that's one viewpoint. My viewpoint is that I prefer to be armed at all times, rather than guess at some perceived level of risk. - OS
  8. Also, I must say that any gun I own that "only had 2 parts brake", would likely NOT be a gun I recommended. How many rounds are we talking about through it in those years? - OS
  9. I recently, and finally, acquired a Blackhawk .357/9mm. I REALLY like it. - OS
  10. Well, actually, "Groile", then. - OS
  11. Well, first of all, there aren't but three places to shoot around Knoxville, short of a private club like ORSA, or someone's personal acreage. - Coal Creek Armory (indoor, 25 yard) - $15/session - John Sevier TWRA outdoor range in North Knoxville, $5.50 for two hours, or you can join their club - Norris Police range, probably the best all around deal, although it's a 20+ mile drive. $30/year, unlimited time. Several of us wind up at the Norris range most Saturdays...at least a couple of us are going this Sat about 1.You're welcome to tag along. Can you shoot during the week? I'm retired and often slip up to Norris during the week, usually hardly anyone there on weekdays, be happy for you to go along. Could meet you out Coal Creek if you like, too, although indoor shooting is not my fave, rather claustrophobic and the magnified concussion and all... PM me for info on any of this...be happy to share what I know of The Code . - OS edit: add Gunny's in Maryville to area list.
  12. See FallGuy's response. You have the business posting statute confused with the park one. The biz one is the "substantially similar". See the prob with all these nit picking laws? (EMTRN is a LEO and can't keep them sorted). - OS
  13. Within the Ruger stable, what's the advantage of the Vaquero over the Blackhawk for SASS? - OS
  14. Actually, Kroil, yes? -OS
  15. Yes, of course it is a state law. That sign is exactly as per the statute, assuming it is also at least 6" high and 14" wide. The penalty for carrying in a local park has been the same ever since it was enacted. It did not change during this last statute change. - OS
  16. While I agree with all you say, was just pointing out the max you could be charged with. And yes, you can lose HCP permanently; law says can be suspended or REVOKED for any of reasons, one being: "Has violated any other provision of §§ 39-17-1351" Which of course a conviction on carrying in a park would be a said violation. - OS
  17. It's $2,500, and/or 11/29 in stir. And of course, almost certain loss of your HCP for good. - OS
  18. Who is "they"? - OS
  19. Oh, I vote. It just generally never counts. - OS
  20. Yeah, I guess once a black panther has seen Disney World and Epcot, there's not much reason to stay in Florida. - OS
  21. Sure that wasn't Monster Quest, where they never actually find anything but just "surmise" a solution? - OS
  22. Wherever your TN permit is not recognized is when you behave like any other lawful citizen and legally lock your unloaded weapon up separate from the ammo. I admit that military or other high security government facilities (or even sensitive government contractor sites) might pose a problem, though. - OS
  23. Couldn't you have at least made it white? Albinos, however rare, do exist in many mammalian species. Black North American Cougars have NEVER been documented, even in areas where they were prolific and are still existent. But I believe your Mom anyway, of course. - OS
  24. The blue racers and cottonmouths here keep the hoopsnakes away. - OS
  25. Yeah, that was point. That you really can't totally rename a topic. I should have said it more succinctly. - OS
