    Iron sight advice

Well you're only $49.99 short of a brand spankin' new 10/22. (plus tax and TICS, though). - OS
  3. I got it. - OS
  4. Nothing in the statute about a time frame. Cities can opt out, opt back in, whatever, whenever. - OS
  5. I couldn't use "Oh Sh*t", so the tamed down version. Also "Shoot" is a double entendre of sorts given this forum, get it? - OS
  6. Great, one of the few pols still walking upright who's OLDER than McCain. New blood indeed, but he'll be the one likely to need it. - OS
  7. The Kahr is more like "champagne budget". - OS
  8. Tend to agree. Now that many places have spent local tax money on new signage will probably be a significant factor, too. Or maybe the state will reimburse them from its coffers or something ... - OS
  9. Have HP carbine, great gun, mags suck. Have to keep lips tweaked just right, and then it's fine. The carbines are a whole 'nother issue from the handguns. In their case a big sloppy blowback bolt design is a strength. Not so much in the case of a handgun. Bought C9 mostly as lark, because I could, another handgun in my main caliber of choice. - a gun I can put in an ally's hand if SHTF - a gun I can give up when they come a'knockin "pleeeseee don't take my only gun!" Less than 200 rounds on the C9 started getting light strikes, called HP, sent free firing pin and springs. Even though just bought the gun from dealer about 3 months ago, firing pin was different design. Anyway, threw the new parts in, seems AOK again. There are two kinds of folks, maybe three, that buy Hi-Points: - folks like me that understand what they are, have appropriate expectations, buy them for various reasons from a lark, to extra truck/tackle box gun, to a SHTF stash, whatever... - bad folks who expect to use them in some bad way and maybe dump them... - good folks who want a reliable self-defense gun, don't have much money, and figure it's all they can afford and it will be good enough. That last group is the one that should NOT buy HP Pistols. - OS
  10. The "two party" system has become the tyranny we have today. You can't fix it by continuing to elect "the lesser of the two evils". What may seem so drastic right now with DeBama's shenanigans all just becomes homogenized into the overall scam over time. The Dems and GOP have merely become place holders for each other; the winners laugh out loud at the deception and I think the losers even giggle a little, knowing they're still in the game. Our election system has become so perverted, that by the time a candidate actually becomes electable, he's unfit to serve because of the corruption that got him into that position. - OS

    Cleaning handguns

Disagree. I actually prefer to shoot at least a round or two through it AFTER cleaning. For what should be obvious reasons. Since I can't do that from home, I'll clean it every couple of range sessions, BEFORE I go to range, but NOT after. Unless you have some kind of cranky pistola (in which case you shouldn't be trusting your life to it) or shooting corrosive ammo, any modern quality handgun isn't gonna be affected by carrying it around for a month or so after shooting a few mags' worth through it. Of course there's no reason in the world why a gun should fail after merely field stripping and cleaning, but nonetheless, it's a psychological confidence booster to me to hear my XD go boom a couple of times after putting it back together, before I strap it back on for every day carry. - OS
  12. Only place I know is at the Knoxville Gun Shows. There's always a guy there who sells milsurp stuff that always them for $5 each, black guy in his fifties or so. I bought one maybe 6 months ago, been meaning to tear into it, as have never had one. - OS
  13. Main diff was it was only news when Dubya didn't make a verbal gaffe! He and Dan Quayle are neck and neck for the all time blooper total. - OS
  14. handgunlaw.us was already on top of it. - OS
  15. Boy, you guys have some kind of fun just over there in Secret City. Really much tamer here. - OS
  16. Some reporter had checked his campaign trail, found he had been in 47 states since he declared to run. So he said 57 while thinking ahead. I, yes verily even I my own self, have been known to make a brain/tongue disconnect a time or two a year. - OS
  17. Well, at least that only went up a buck or so from previous pricing. - OS
  18. Dang, I didn't realize that even WAS a threaded part. I'll have to look at mine next time I break it down. First time I ever heard that one and I've read most every Kahr bash on the net. - OS
  19. Intent to go disarmed. Improvised non-explosive device. Actually you can't cop a plea until you're charged with something. You're really trying to find a problem within a solution that already exists. - OS
  20. Intent to go disarmed, I guess. Right, Patty? - OS
  21. Well, your Riff Raff ain't exactly a teddy bear, y'know! - OS
  22. Wow. The cocked indicator let's you know the gun is cocked and ready to fire. The loaded chamber indicator is to let you know there IS a round to fire. (and actually is required by some states to sell the gun in that state). Both are tactile as well as visible, so you can feel them during a long dark night of covert operation. I've heard people say they didn't see these two features as enough of a plus to swing the decision to buy an XD, but you're the first person I've ever head of who got RID of an XD because of them! - OS
  23. Yep the mighty Voles whupped up on the Western Kentucky Institute for Small Engine Repair. I'll go anytime anywhere to shoot nifty guns and hear such good tales, some of which I suspect are even true. - OS
  24. It's not fair to say I dislike it. It does exactly what it's billed to do, goes bang every time. I dislike my lack of good sense for having actually chosen it, and over paying for it to boot! - OS
  25. (independent observation upon reading): I think you both actually suggested opposite work flows. - OS
