  1. I've bought from them also. Not always the cheapest place for all items, but they have things just can't seem to find anywhere else. - OS
  2. Yeah, if using charcoal, or just maybe moving hot coals from another fire, the firebowl is pretty nifty:
  3. Yep, still run by PD. $30/year, June 30th , you keep key. $15 one day, plus key deposit, you have to turn key back in. Range about 4 mi away from PD on Upper Clear Creek Road. - OS
  4. Don't be lumping zombies and yetis together. A yeti is your friend; they are actually gentle and wise creatures. A .22 semi auto rifle is perhaps the best overall zombie killer. Direct pan shot is sufficient, and you can carry beau coup ammo. It's also the supreme plinker and the lowest cost per round there is. But you will need more for larger game and non-zombie humanoids that move quicker and shoot back. - OS
  5. They have (non-conforming of course) signs that all guns must be unloaded and no loaded mags. You are supposed to go through the "gun line" if you have a firearm of any kind so that they can put a disabling cable tie through it. However, the answer to your question of "can you carry" is yes, since they don't search entrants. - OS
  6. You know that's illegal unless you have training certificate, yes? - OS
  7. FG, "we" may have decided that .. However, there is a clear cut statement in: 39-17-1352. Suspension or revocation of license. — (6) Has violated any other provision of §§ 39-17-1351 — 39-17-1360; Obviously, a conviction for carrying where posted on private property would fall under that, yes? additional irony: this would affect carrying in a restaurant or other private biz, but not in a park or other places (courts, etc), as those statutes are prior to 39-17-1351. Then there's the catchall of : (3) Poses a material likelihood of risk of harm to the public; Which, I suppose could be enacted by whoever is in authority to do so if they had a hard on to get involved against you. - OS
  8. oops...see following post.
  9. So, I deleted my signature... But there's still the horiz. line under my posts where sig USED to be. Not really important, of course, just an oddity; no way to get it "clean" again? - OS
  10. Good goin... You'll get one of the special small gold stars up in the corner of the permit. - OS
  11. Likely lose your carry permit, seems to me. Violation of ANY of the weapons statutes is reason to pull it. edit: not necessarily ANY, but SOME. I have no idea if this would be done automatically or what, though. - OS
  12. Size of type is not specified in the statute. Size of sign and exact wording IS specified. - OS
  13. Tickles me how I always hear about protection from wild animals in TEOTWAWKI - there's only been maybe 50 folks killed by black bears in the last 100 years. Are the bears gonna be meaner when the SHTF? Has anyone ever been killed by a wild hog? Will they suddenly go into hyper attack mode? Actually, my guess is that within a month, there wouldn't be much larger than a chipmunk left alive in the whole country! - OS
  14. Never heard that one before, but.... We (moi + SunTsu, Garufa, 70below, HKUSP40cal) were there when it happened, but we didn't know anything till they "announced" over the mostly unintelligible loud speaker, I guess as a deterrent to it happening again. We had to ask around till we found out what had been announced. - OS
  15. Dem Ooltewah yeller jackets must be nuts .. they build in the ground everywhere else in nature. - OS
  16. I assume by "stove" he means "pot holder stove" that fuel goes down inside. Could use tinywood fire in it. Like: Even better, I have a Grilliput Grill, a nice approx 8x10 free standing grill that all goes in a 12" long 3/4" diameter metal tube. Weighs little over a pound, but with wood fire/coals under it, you can cook with pan/skillet, or just grill that ole possum you shot. - OS
  17. - Consider more water ... I know it's heavy, but it's sort of numero uno. - couple of space blankies, again only ounce or two each. - some baby wipes, squish flat into plastic bag - candles are okay, but no candle "lamp"? Consider a UCO candle lantern, just 2 or three ounces...single candles won't stay lit all by their lonesomes very well. Even the Mini UCO using tealight candles is pretty handy. - did you mention small flashlights? I know you can't count on batteries for long, but small pocket flash and couple extra sets of batteries can sure make things easier first couple days. - What's going on top of the little stove? The cans of food? Consider something to heat water in, small pot or big GI cup. Throw in a few single packs of ramen noodle soup mix. They don't weigh half ounce apiece. Not a heckuva lot of nutrition, but quick carbs and tasty, good spirit booster and insides warmer upper. - Oh yeah, and maybe a couple of spoons at least? Just off top o' my bean.
  18. Sorry, just wrong. A call at 3 weeks to a month, assuming there are no background glitches on one's record, has OBVIOUSLY sped things up for most folks. Just WAY too many posts about "issued today" or "will be issued today" after a call to discount the effectiveness of the practice. - OS
  19. I have done this back in the day on eBay when someone linked to MY pix on MY webspace to sell THEIR product. Now you can complain and they'll zap the user for stealing intellectual property or whatever. - OS
  20. Ya got any kind of sealant on the wood, like poly or oil based paint? That generally deters them. It's kind of rare to get so many that they actually do structural damage, though, but guess it happens. - OS
  21. He was shooting much better than he suggests, mostly MOBGT (Minute of Bad Guy Torso) at 10 yards, first time out, not bad at all. That Beretta 92 really is a sweet shooter, 100+ flawless rounds. Seems quieter than many other 9mms to me. Full size all metal gun makes them parabellums feel like .22's. - OS
  22. Well, it's members only, yes? So Sevier Indoor is the ONLY public range in all of Sevier County? No even ONE outdoor range? - OS
  23. My PM9 has all metal guide rod. So, all metal MK series, which was made BEFORE the plastic PM series, has polymer rod, and my half polymer PM series has all metal. I find that to be a rather strange factoid. - OS
  24. Glock, CZ, M&P, XD, others, all within .15" thickness of each other at their widest points. Unless you go with a single stack semi-auto, it's the price ya pay for cartridge capacity. - OS
  25. Me either, really, I was just pretending so as not to appear like, well, you know, you. - OS
