  1. Indeed, you are in a state of satori with the Tao of WallyWorld. - OS
  2. Btw, proper title is A Canticle For Leibowitz... It's not a EOTWAWKI or SHTF in the sense that most all the others are...begins several hundred years AFTER the nuclear destruction, and history at that point doesn't even really understand what the world had been like before. Spans about a 1500 years or so, best I remember, until science has "caught up" again.... Anyway, don't expect any contemporary "action" or "adventure" out of it and be prepared for much theological underpinnings ... - OS

    SCCY Firearms

Used to by SKYY, which is oddly the address of the forum, with 600 members. SCCY Forum :: Index My impression has been that they are like Hi-Points, except a little more expensive and without the track record. - OS
  4. They just don't generally work on most guns, other than that they're pretty good. Some don't seem to EVER work on some guns (50 round drum for 10/22 for example). Do a quickie Google for "promag any good", you'll see. Or do a separate thread in this forum for Promag to get your peers' opinions. My advice is find the best price you can for the 7 round Kahr factory mag with the pinkie rest built in if you want more than the 6 round flush ones. - OS
  5. Just an aside, movie version of On the Beach plays frequently on cable, matter of fact, on tonight on Retro Channel at 8 Eastern which is on most folks' mid level cable package I believe. Made in '59, quite faithful rendition of the novel. (yes, the unconsummated love story part is in the novel also, not just thrown in by Hollywood.) It's okay by me, I'd watch Ava Gardner read the phone book. - OS
  6. Whoa. ProMag. Good luck. - OS
  7. I'll sometimes have an extra OWB holster with something in it to and from range, usually a revolver. On weak side, as the ole XD in IWB is a permanent fixture. Other than that, I'm IWB all the way. I prefer to be a Gray Man (unfortunately in more ways than one). - OS
  8. However, it's equally true that there is no provision to PROVE citizenship, or even legal residency. Just as there is no provision to prove same right now when illegal aliens walk into your local hospital's emergency room. That was tried, but struck down both because of practical considerations (many legal citizens couldn't prove it) and legal ones (liberal federal judges). Whether any better check on legal status of individuals would happen with a "public option" is anybody's guess - but I would guess there would NOT be. So, in that sense, Wilson's blurted "statement" may well be true in a de facto sense. - OS
  9. The big flap was over the outburst itself, not exactly what he said. Unlike many other countries, including the generally staid Brits, it is NOT the protocol to shout at the president during a joint address of Congress. Maybe it should be, but it's not. And of course, he didn't apologize for what he said, but that he said it at all, which seems to me (and to the Prez himself) sufficient. - OS
  10. Be sure to scream "CONTACT!" just before the forward roll, or points are deducted. - OS
  11. We had to do all kinds of stuff in ours... Shooting backwards using the mirror wasn't too hard, but the forward roll with weak hand double tap failed a bunch of folks... - OS
  12. Remember that this was a tale of some of the 10% or so who survived until what was left of the US military found them. About a 90% fatality rate. I wouldn't call that wide eyed optimism. - OS
  13. Cool, haven't heard of that one, thanks. - OS
  14. (large) human torso size...no worries, mate... - OS
  15. On the other hand, if a nationwide EMP really did occur, I do indeed believe in the 90% dead in two years or so prediction. I also believe that the only hope of survival long term would indeed be in small close knit communities that had enough folks with useful skills to sustain and guns to defend. - OS
  16. Have you been reading lately? His wife just passed away. And she had sort of advertised for a replacement wife for James, pretty unusual. - OS
  17. And he was only three! - OS
  18. Around 50 people have been killed by black bears in all of North America (including Canada) in the last 100 years. Your odds are pretty good. However, your odds of being killed driving to and from the mountains are millions of times higher! - OS
  19. Stories I've read all say that all DC municipal agencies ceased giving crowd estimates some time ago, including the park police. Where did YOU read this story? Maybe one guy on the force said that? I dunno. Look, I don't care what the number was ... if you can get 100,000 folks together in one place for a political protest seems significant to me. I've never even seen 100,000 folks together at one time in person, except for a football game. - OS
  20. One of Hannity's minions on tonight's show, said "certainly not a million, but well over 100,000". And you know he'd like to report the number to be as high as possible. Glen Beck wouldn't give an estimate. - OS
  21. Most any leather holster that is actually fitted and boned for your exact gun will have more than adequate retention for normal activities. If you need to ensure that it stays in holster if you're actually upside down, you probably need one with adjustable tension, just to make sure. Holsters that fit "several" guns, all bets are off. A "fit all", fits nothing. - OS
  22. Amen! I mean, seconded. - OS
  23. Wow, is it later on your side of the county, or what? I've still got 17 days over here! Anyway, I'm sure I'll be there...I pop up there generally at least once a week these days routinely. - OS
  24. Now even the ripoffs of the ripoffs are getting ripped off. - OS
