  1. To be fair, that's only with the extended mag. It holds max 13+1 with the flush mag. If you're going to carry the extended mag, it becomes same butt size of the service model, so you might as well carry that and get the more accurate 4" barrel, as the hardest thing to conceal is the gun butt near your butt. - OS
  2. I'm of course not denigrating the intent of the constitution in any way, and to claim I am shows a shallow effort to confront the issue. Germany had a constitution when Hitler came to power, too. Several S.American nations have constitutions that are either ignored and control established by military junta, or have been changed by unlawful decree. Let's see, an early example in our own - "all men created equal": If you were a "******" or "injun" at the time, those were indeed words on paper only, considering your de facto treatment compared to white men, eh? Especially if you were an "injun", since your people continued to be slaughtered for 30 years or more even after the "******s" were "made equal". My point being, if parts of our constitution are legislated so that they are no longer in fact able to be exercised, those words become hollow indeed. This has of course happened to any number of sections in it, with states' rights and firearm possession being among the most glaring examples. - OS edit: the **** is the forum software excising the "N" word for Negro. I attempted to use it for effect, same as "injun", which it allowed.
  3. Ah, okay..that's odd, they don't even show it on site. I guess the "A" must be vendor special for places like Dicks and Gander...if it indeed has same specs as the "W", the stock is actually "walnut finished" rather than actual walnut; guys on the Marlin forum say it's birch with walnut stain, really. That's main price diff tween the "C" and "W" on Marlin site. No biggie, nothing wrong with birch; that's what Ruger 10/22 uses on base carbine and it's plenty durable, plus these guns should be used and not safe queens, IMO. Yeah, I'm not a reloader, but certainly that makes a big diff....enjoy! - OS
  4. I think we are in decidedly different castes if you consider .75-1.00+ per round as "plinkable, cheap" ammo! Lovely gun though, and I certainly agree with all your other accolades regarding it...I saw this and similar deal at Gander Mtn, and if I didn't already have Marlin 1894C, I might have grabbed one. Incidentally, does it say "336" or "336W" or exactly what as model number on the gun? - OS
  5. Words on paper do not constitute a right in and of themselves - the citizen's freedom of behavior according to those words constitutes the right. A right must be de facto, not merely de jure. If you cannot exercise a right then it doesn't exist. - OS
  6. So what? You can't OWN a handgun, period, at all, nada, zip, under any circumstances, in certain cities in America. Put that in your 2A pipe and smoke it. It is illegal to carry a handgun in TN, so how can it be a right? We pay for the PRIVILEGE of carrying one, just as we pay for the PRIVILEGE of driving a car. - OS
  7. If you want one to tuck up nicely behind hip for concealment, consider David Bullard's BodyGuard. He also makes a straight drop OWB. Gun Leather, Concealment and Cowboy holsters, Azle, TX. - OS
  8. Nope, not a handgun. He has to send it to FFL in TN, and the 4473 run in TN. Federal law. You can buy long guns in many other states, as long as your or the other state's laws don't prohibit it. If the dealer will do it. - OS
  9. Can't legally do it with a handgun. - OS
  10. Sorry, but that's incorrect information. Handguns can only be sent between FFLs via USPS, but long guns may be sent intrastate between individuals, and interstate from individual to FFL. You may also ship long guns TO YOURSELF intra or interstate c/o another person, but not sure if this can be done through USPS or just contract carrier. - OS
  11. Oh, man, surely you jest. Maybe if that were a exposed 9mm, but everybody, I mean EVERYBODY knows that a bad guy even SEES a .45, he runs away screaming - you don't even have to point it at him! - OS
  12. Is your hand rated for +p through an LCP? - OS
  13. The stainless slide models are usually 35-50 bucks more, for whatever reason. In the Kahr lineup, you pay extra for the all black models, go figure. I paid 499.99 for each of my XD 9's (subbie and service), about a year ago. All black. Coal Creek Armory. - OS
  14. Here's some more classic goings on there, including my Road Warrior shotgun movie. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/show-tell/21407-norris-shoot-road-warrior-shotgun-etc.html?highlight=road+warrior
  15. Yep, that was my 50 caliber bridge of nose souvenir, great shot, first time I've seen it! Yeah, it had quit bleeding by then. Chris only warned me three times to keep back from the scope some. I obviously needed at least one more warning. - OS
  16. Here's a shoot back in June - was actually on BigJ45's land (actually not far from Norris) but the situation was much the same, and most of the usual suspects were in attendance: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/events-gatherings/21534-east-tn-june-shoot.html
  17. Well, glad to hear the clearances/job you were after came through. You'll probably have to buy back some guns now. - OS
  18. Well, he obviously wasn't census taking IN the national park. So he was taken there from somewhere else in Clay county. Ergo, I discount the notion that he stumbled on some nefarious activity IN the park. - OS
  19. I've always found it just as easy to use my ISP webspace. Comcast gives you 5 GB. Most every ISP gives you some space. You just need to learn how to transfer files up to your ISP space and the proper URL to it. There are on line tutorials for this on most all ISP sites. 2 ways to do it: - your ISP probably has a web based file transfer upload. Works, but crude, and often one file at a time - FTP is by far the preferred method. Hint: If you use FireFox, there's a great little FTP plugin called FireFTP. You can just click on remote file and copy/paste the URL into the dialog box. Certainly, PhotoBucket and other sites work fine, too, but I've always preferred having my stuff under my "own" control. - OS
  20. Hey, it ain't even Kentucky. - OS
  21. Huh? I mean, what? I mean, whaddya ya mean? - OS
  22. Yep. Ptui. Ding. - OS
  23. Yep, agree. max 50 dollar civil fine against max $2500 and/or 11 months 29 days in slammer class A criminal misdemeanor. Trying to look on the bright side, it's the most benign anti-carry law in TN. Cheaper than speeding. - OS
  24. That was my point. OP does, so I didn't see your comment as germane to the topic. I carry (concealed) in some improperly posted places too, but it would be foolhardy to do it openly, unless you were just looking to be a test case. - OS
  25. Yep. - OS
