  1. There IS an FFL in DC. Shortly after the decision one was put in place. But it's just a guy, not a gun shop. Guns are shipped to him and he does the paperwork, or holds it till owner registers it or whatever is required. They still have to go through some registration hoops there through the police, though. - OS
  2. As I understand it, yes they are, Mike. The decision also struck down the part of the law that firearms had to be stored unloaded and disassembled/trigger lock. They're supposed to even have an actual gun shop in DC at some point! - OS
  3. XD 9mm's, subbie and service, can't even wiggle the slide. - OS
  4. Mine's chambered in .357, it's a swell gun, just aces. If I felt comfy carrying only 5 rounds it would be my EDC. - OS
  5. I think so, but be sure that it was a reasonable fear of yourself, then you won't likely be charged with the original carry violation. Be sure to shoot yourself until your threat to yourself is stopped, ie, shoot yourself to the ground. But they'll perhaps still charge you with shooting inside city limits or something (if you live). You'd have to ask the friggin AG for an (in)expert opinion about that one. - OS
  6. Now now, BD, leaning against the wall next to it is more than adequate. My point was, if you only want a weapon to defend your bedroom/inside home, why depend upon a secondary weapon like a pistol? - OS
  7. No, I think you're supposed to find the nearest LEO and turn yourself in. If none is around, you're to call 911 and report yourself as Man With Gun. - OS
  8. Yep ... you need to patch vBulletin! - OhShoot the Trojan
  9. Ah, great use of Twilight Zone, I knew the jab would be worth it . You'll use too much valuable fuel to simmer my old hide in a pot, though, best to lay in firewood and slow cook using a big spit. - OS
  10. Awwww, shucks. - OS
  11. Well, it obviously doesn't mean jack if you have a HCP, as far as a loaded handgun is concerned. Certainly you can have an unloaded long gun, with ammo well separated, in your vehicle, just as you can anywhere else in TN, including a National Park, where permitted hand gun carry is not quite yet legal. I lean toward the notion that if you have a HCP, you could also legally have a loaded long gun in the vehicle in state park also, but I'm not the TN Attorney General (I have much more common sense than he). Remember, that whatever "no guns" signs that are on the side of the road in state parks were not mandated to be removed or modified with the passage of the state park carry statute. And I'd reason that their website is the same old wording also. - OS
  12. The best "nightstand pistol" is an 18" 12 gauge shotgun. Really. - OS
  13. EVERYONE NOTE THAT THE DATE IS ACTUALLY: SUNDAY, OCT. 11 I've PM'd admin to see if will change main title. Range is not open Sept 26-Oct.4 due to hunting season in that area. - OS edit: TGO David kindly changed thread title to reflect correct date.
  14. Oops, wrong threadie poo...
  15. Yeah, but odor isn't everything. - OS
  16. It's certainly irrefutable that my price is right. - OS
  17. I like the idea myself, went .357/.38 with Marlin 1894C and Ruger Blackhawk. And the Blackhawk will shoot 9mm also. So I get several options as I pick over the corpses during TEOTWAWKI. - OS
  18. I'm leery of any club that would have me as a member, but I remain anyway. - OS
  19. Another "standard" is Peterson Field Guide, "Edible Wild Plants: Eastern/Central North America". 7x4.5x.75". - OS
  20. Mike .357 and Garufa have the weenie pads, I mean, the high tech precision accuracy enhancers, on theirs. I would too, but I'm too weenie to buy one, mainly because I found opening the sealed ammo tins from Transylvania or wherever to be too dangerous! - OS
  21. Sure, I can show you the way to make the stock 10 rounders pretty reliable, at least until they bend themselves wrong again, which they mysteriously seem to do over time. Know some folks on the HiPoint forums have had to modify the ATI even to get the stock mags to work correctly. Greenego on this forum has prob with last round not feeding using his ATI stock. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the stock slightly pressing into the mag somewhere up near the top, last round has the least spring tension so it prevents it from popping up high enough or something. By the way, you know it's not THIS Sunday at Norris, right? - OS
  22. Agree totally. I'd probably buy another one too under those circumstances...be nice to put one in the hand of an ally if push came to shove. But with the mags being both low capacity and rather unreliable, it's just not a dependable "perimeter" weapon. I have to tweak the lips on the mags pretty often; they're just too thin and flimsy. - OS
  23. Agree totally. I've have no stats for reference, but surely traffic stops have caused many LEO deaths through the years, probably right up there with domestic dispute calls (I'm guessing even more so). I know most every stop would be big time pucker factor for moi if it were my job. - OS
  24. Magazines are the only weak link in this choice, both in capacity and dependability. Otherwise it's a heckuva weapon for couple hundred smackers. - OS
