Your blurb. Should be "fewer" people instead of "less" people. http://blog.dictionary.com/fewer-vs-less/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fewer_vs._less - OS

[GrammarNazi] No apostrophes in Republicans and Democrats. "Fewer" people. [/GrammarNazi] - OS

Trump and Carson are the last people the "Republican machine" wants to be there, probably with Cruz third. Though it would be great to thwart what the GOP is overall, it happens to be correct in the sense of their electability. - OS

What a manufacturing country we used to have: when makers of juke boxes, typewriters, postal meters, and auto steering components could tool up and make quality rifles in short order! - OS

Have read a couple of articles about just that, the purely physical side of the human body. Just because you can pack on an extra 50 to 100 lbs onto a human frame doesn't mean the rest of the body is designed to be able to handle it, even if all of it is muscle. The skeleton doesn't bulk up along with the extra weight, whether fat or muscle, and tendons and ligaments don't keep pace exactly proportionally either. So forget the collisions, there's going to be a certain amount of extra wear and tear and outright failure of the sub-structure and connecting tissues just from propelling the mass around. And the torque stress required to get from stationary to full speed and the like in short amount of time is enormous. It's like expecting a cheetah weighing 30% more than optimum to have the same durability running down gazelles, or dropping a 440 hemi into a Pinto with no modifications to all the connecting systems between it and the rubber meeting the road and expecting everything to hold together when you put the foot down over and over. - OS

Look for them dumb mice and rats, the ones you can get right up close to. Or venomous snakes you have to get close enough to so they get a chance to bite you. :) - OS

Wasn't black, was it? ;) Another rare wanderer I guess, if indeed it was snapped where stated. The skeptic part always has to wonder : No EXIF embedded in those particular JPEGs or other real proof of course. Dunno how TWRA verified that other one not long ago but they had to be pert sure to admit it I guess. I must note these pix and the vid were certainly framed pretty well for an animal that just happened to stop and do its thing for a bit -- pretty long odds on that from a stationary pointed camera would seem to me, but anything's possible I reckon, maybe some scent was put there or something. Looks like a rather tight shot too, not the wider focal length you'd usually have a game camera set on? Maybe cropped? If we ever see evidence of a breeding population, that would be something indeed. Beautiful animal. I think we should try to reestablish them here in quantity. Forget them pussy elks, lets get something back in the woods where it means something serious to be an outdoorsman again! ;) - OS

I glad I don't have to anymore, been maybe 10 years since I last flew. Though if something arises, would still get on one I reckon. I never did like flying on the big planes, even before 9/11, all the total lack of control and regimentation and forced close association with other humanoids, etc. Fortunately no undue claustrophobia, though. I was also in widdle planes 6 or 8 times a year for fifteen years or so and even though they of course weren't in my personal control, always felt the guys had a better chance getting it down in one piece if bad things happened, which a couple of times they did, and they did. And yeah, I know the stats and odds, big planes are much safer, just the perception I admit. - OS

If these are indeed ever released, not sure at all they'll be shipped to your home. The way it's worded, with the background check and all, seems like would have to be transferred through FFL? - OS

I'm wondering if the Secretary of Defense the Army "will" actually release any of them as long as there is a Dem administration, since the bill gives him the "may" option. Meaning, I imagine the actual decision is still in reality up to BHO. And/or Hillary Clinton. - OS

Carry Permit while on Probation
Oh Shoot replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
As I said, I don't know what TNDOS has "decided" is proper enforcement of the statute -- only that it is worded exactly the same as the DUI one as to the "and" condition, and for sure both the DUI conditions must be met, neither one alone is prohibitive, that has been proven any number of times right here on TGO. So if they are treating it the way you say, seems to me it's ripe for a suit to anyone denied unless they also say they are currently an illegal user or addict, since otherwise it does not seem to be in accordance with the actual law (which I quoted above). That's all I'm really contending. - OS -
HCP Renewal App - Want a Copy
Oh Shoot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
The only problem with mailing it in close to the expiration date, is that you won't maybe have the receipt letter they send before it expires, which you technically need to keep with you to carry after expiration date if you haven't yet received the new permit itself. You could (shudder) go by DMV and do it though, even like the day before or whatever, and they give you a receipt that covers you. - OS -

The latter part of thread in this same section, but I see you've posted it there also so you found that out. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/91873-carry-permit-while-on-probation/ Again, thanks so much. I saved both images just for reference. - OS -
Carry Permit while on Probation
Oh Shoot replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Down, tiger. He made the pics, it's not found "online" as you claimed. And thanks a bunch, CZ! Okay, here's the pertinent part, and why I wanted to see exactly how that section was worded: According to 39-17-1351, it takes a combination of factors to be denied for the rehab part. (A) would deny you period (refers to federal law) but takes (A) plus ( B ) or ( C ) to deny. (You could even make the argument that A alone is not a disqualification, as that simply forbids you from possessing firearms under federal law, which is actually a different matter than having a permit to do so, but whatever). Similarly, as is well documented, neither (D) or (E) alone disqualifies you, it takes both (D) and (E) to do it. Now, I can't say whether TNDOS is following the statute as written in regard to the rehab part, but we know they do as for the DUI part, so seems they should, as the sections are written exactly alike, with an "and" as part of the condition, not "or". ---------- reference from the statute: (10) That the applicant is not an unlawful user of or addicted to alcohol, any controlled substance or controlled substance analogue, AND the applicant has not been either: (A) A patient in a rehabilitation program pursuant to a court order or hospitalized for alcohol, controlled substance or controlled substance analogue abuse or addiction pursuant to a court order within ten (10) years from the date of application; or ( B ) A voluntary patient in a rehabilitation program or voluntarily hospitalized for alcohol, controlled substance or controlled substance analogue abuse or addiction within three (3) years from the date of application; (11) That the applicant has not been convicted of the offense of driving under the influence of an intoxicant in this or any other state two (2) or more times within ten (10) years from the date of the application AND that none of the convictions has occurred within five (5) years from the date of application or renewal; - OS -
Turkey shot down Russian jet, then rebels shot down a rescue chopper
Oh Shoot replied to Sam1's topic in General Chat
Yeah, there couldn't really be a WWIII in the real sense, only in the context of: "I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." - Albert Einstein (though not exactly original) - OS -
