  1. They actually have a rather extensively worded sign: something to the effect that HCP carry is fine as long as it remains holstered, and that all other guns must be unloaded, maybe checked in or something, can't remember about that part. Was just there 3 weeks ago and that same sign has been there for the last couple years. - OS
  2. I had a thought the other day, but it wouldn't be fair to claim it was my thought for the day today. - OS
  3. Believe me, they'll still be there once you are proficient, too. And the one who hits you won't have insurance, likely not even a license. That's wisdom, brother. Totally agree, might as well mess with fiberglass insulation. - OS
  4. Most of the Big Questions are totally unknowable, at least to our species at this time. So most choose to believe something that gives one comfort, which usually includes the notion of an afterlife. Atheism is as conceited a claim as "the one true God", so agnosticism at least feels intellectually honest - but since it's difficult for any puny human brain to conceive of the buck not stopping somewhere, just put me down with Jefferson et al as a Deist. - OS
  5. That's the ole gun show spirit! - OS
  6. Short of TEOTWAWKI, I can't see it as effective or humane option. - OS
  7. Those are already out in 9mm, called the 995 TS. T&T had some at the last show at the Jacobs building. About $235 as opposed to $199.99. I prefer the old ugly to the new ugly. - OS
  8. I'll run by Wally's tonight, good thought. Better, I'll sell the $1 off coupons for $2 each! - OS
  9. Usual time. Usual suspects. - OS
  10. Since Spuds became legendary for being the first TGOer to get banned while in the Test Forum, thought I'd post the coupon he usually did in memoriam. Show is at Jacobs Bldg. in Chilhowee Park (fairgrounds). - OS
  11. I forget, since it's been awhile, but are National Forests covered in the new federal carry law that goes in effect in Feb? - OS
  12. Now now... I'd like to have some of those Tactical Innovations polymer jobbies which are not as pricey as the aluminum ones, but still pretty high. Can tell you that the Butler Creek steel lips tend to work nicely IF you souse the insides with silicone spray lubricant. Best to use copper jacketed stuff with them too. (that's a new experiment you hadn't heard about yet, John!) - OS
  13. Your county building is not posted like ours? - OS
  14. Hardly anyone ever claims Pro Mags work well, for ANY gun. I just don't understand how they stay in business. - OS
  15. This one was my Dad's, he probably acquired it used somewhere along the line, has uber tacticool Uncle Mikes camo holster that fits it perfectly (4" barrel) ... I shoot it maybe once a month or so, has always been rock solid. It's pretty accurate too, but shoots a little high, so you have to drop the front sight down to the bottom of the front sight channel visually. I thought about grinding front sight down a tad, but just don't want to modify it. From researching, seems this one was around 1958-60 best I remember. I took my HCP class with it ... instructor came over as I was reloading (with cylinder out), said "you aren't planning on carrying that are you?" I said, "sure, just look how quick I can reload it!" - OS
  16. Yeah. And scuttlebutt has it that they are REALLY close now. Then again, ya never know when they may crank it out. There's a new 995 "tactical" model out, and yet HiPoint doesn't even show it on their website, go figger. - OS
  17. Ah, but you were totally safe carrying the 922 (I have one). It doesn't have a transfer bar, but the hammer cannot contact the cartridge until trigger is pulled, as there is an internal blocker down toward base of trigger that only lets the hammer go so far until trigger is pulled and depresses the release. See the secondary tiny "trigger" behind the main one? That has to be depressed for the hammer mounted firing pin to contact the shell. - OS
  18. It is often postulated that: " 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. — (a) It is a defense to the application of § 39-17-1307 if the possession or carrying was:... (3) At the person's: (A) Place of residence; ( Place of business; or © Premises; " can be construed to mean that a hotel/motel room, a motor home, even a tent while camping, is considered your "place of residence". IANAL, - OS
  19. Technically, yep, says "...while inside any room in which judicial proceedings are in progress..." Do you often go into court rooms when court is NOT in session? Doesn't matter in Knoxville, as the courtrooms are all in a posted building to begin with. - OS
  20. Who taught your permit class? You wuz robbed. - OS
  21. But but...they have the largest trailer park in TN, so it's important! By the way, there's another round packaged like the .40, I guess I just never realized its awesomeness before!: - OS
  22. I always rave to folks about Garufa's incredible empirical and intuitive reasoning powers. Just another amazingly irrefutable proof. - OS
  23. I highly recommend this, since no one will even notice you're wearing it: - OS
