  1. Yeah, I bought the bolt model Plinkster about a year ago, the bolt locking lugs fell out of it, they wound up replacing whole gun eventually, wasn't worth the hassle really. But the thing does shoot okay; if it didn't have a ten pound clunky trigger I think it's capable of pretty good accuracy. - OS
  2. Sounds good, I may slip up there 'bout Thursday anyway. - OS
  3. Right on.... FCFB: It goes on the topmost "dove tail" slits. The bottom wider bevels are the "Weaver" rails. Those 3/8" dovetails are built into the receiver on some guns, but Ruger just gives you a mount that will do either kind. That pic isn't technically a Ruger factory one, but very similar. I'm gonna get one of those Bushnell's too...looking around there now....would also like to have a spotting scope, but that's a whole 'nother can o' worms. - OS
  4. Geez...what's the link, I might get one, really. - OS edit: never mind, took longer to post reply than to find it on Amazon. Looks like the rings are for the small 3/8" "tipoff" rail mounts rather than Weaver, which is okay, since the rail that comes with 10/22s does both. - OS
  5. Correct. It's so natural to engage the grip safety, one doesn't really even notice you're doing it. Grab the grip well below the safety and try to rack it. - OS
  6. The real question to ask is why was his finger on the trigger during any part of the operation? The XD is no different in this regard than any other weapon when racking. It takes NO force on the grip safety to activate it. (incidentally, the firing pin "retracting", I guess you mean indicator sticking out the back, merely shows weapon is cocked - the loaded chamber indicator is up on top of weapon. You can also see edge of shell in chamber by looking from the side.) - OS
  7. I don't know much about scopes, but it does seem as the $40-50 range provides a lot of options for rimfires. I've got a 10/22 with Simmons .22 Mag 4x32, about $40-45 with rings included, very clear, easy to see through etc. But now that I've sweetened up trigger a little I think I'd like a 3-9x also, just to be more precise. That's part of the hook of shooting rimfires, I've learned. Just to prove I'm not a snob, though, I've got a BSA 3-7x 20mm that was less than $20 bucks, tipoff rings included, and so far it's been ok, too on a cheapo Plinkster, just is a little more critical on getting the right eye relief distance. - OS
  8. I have come to understand that you have a short attention span, but I'll remind you that I said that as a further response to YOUR contention that "In fact i don't think you even need a permit to carry in your home or boat." - OS
  9. Which has squat to do with TN law enforcement if you are caught carrying with no permit. - OS
  10. Yeah, like all derringers I've ever heard of, you can only fire one barrel at a time. Has two firing pins but only one hammer, with a moveable nub on it that determines which barrel fires. The Bond is a cut above most, though, as you can choose which barrel fires at any given time. Most, like my Cobra, simply alternate without choice, although once you see how it works you can choose before you load it which will be first to fire. - OS
  11. Extremely Bad Advice. Your boat is no more a "castle" than your car. One might justify possession in a motor home or houseboat/yacht type craft (your "castle away from the castle") but certainly not in your average recreational craft. Only time firearm possession without permit would be justified there would be the "incident to hunting, hiking, camping, etc" statute; and that might be pretty sticky. - OS
  12. Been attracted to those myself. I like the idea of "easy takedown", compared to Ruger Mark II/III. - OS
  13. There are a number of them.. this is gateway to the Smokies after all. The biggest with probably the most likelihood of easy vacancy might be the Riverside, it's only a couple miles away at Winfield Dunn and Boyd's Creek Hwy. Riverside Campground & RV Resort Sevierville, TN There's a smaller one nearby also called Ripplin Waters, might be more cozy, and even closer to restaurant, might could even walk it, can't remember exactly. Ripplin' Waters Campground & Cabin Rentals, Sevierville, Tennessee Probably others right around there I can't remember. Should be able to park a semi at/near the restaurant, best I remember. I delivered that area up till couple years ago, haven't been back there since, but doubt if much has changed. - OS
  14. By the charcoal? Better double check, the ones from Krogers here are strike anywhere only if you have the matchbox striker with you to use. - OS
  15. Yep. - OS
  16. PM9 in StellarRigs Same in Bullard Dual Carry for IWB. - OS
  17. I bought some there 'bout 3 months ago...they had both the large kitchen size box and the small individual sized ones. - OS
  18. If you can see it all onscreen at same time, and since you only need screen rez, just use PrintScreen. Open most any imaging proggie, Edit/Paste, save as JPG. - OS
  19. Yeah, but I love my polymer XDs! - OS
  20. Well, polymer is pretty well proven at this point, what with around 28 years worth of Glock lead technology experience with it. I agree that Ruger did it for profit reasons, but the profit wasn't in the relative cost of metal vs. polymer, but more in the fact that the polymer is less labor intensive as can be made with more precision and no hands on finishing. - OS
  21. Cache (temp internet files) gets stuck (tech term) once in a while, keeps showing page from cache rather than directly from source. Close/restart browser or delete cache in extreme cases. - OS
  22. What's "critical" in a trigger housing?' All the internals (hammer. sear, springs, etc) are still metal. - OS
  23. The video is on Ruger's newly revamped site under the 10/22 section. Ruger® 10/22 Carbine Autoloading Rifle Extras They also did it for the GunBlast guy too: - OS
  24. The 4 holes have place holding flush screws in them (or should), a quick glance might not notice them. - OS
