  1. He didn't. Merely filed an amicus curiae ("friend of the court") letter with the court, along with 38 other attorney generals. He apparantly had done the same before Heller was decided. - OS
  2. There are a couple of no no's on painted sign there that are NOT on the rules sheet/contract you sign and get a copy of, so I don't know whether/if they are ever enforced or just left overs. The only thing it forbids is "firing above the horizontal", although I've seen folks throw clays there on weekdays. Lots of folks use stationary clays to bust with rifles. There were pumpkin remains there recently. I've shot plastic bottles waterfilled or not, a Styrofoam dummy, heavy steel plate, and of course steel spinner targets I set up. Of course we've always cleaned up plastic remains and etc before leaving. - OS
  3. Can't carry in bars in Texas. Can't even open carry. Not exactly a shining bastion of 2A rights there either. - OS
  4. Not carry. Carry still not legal in DC. Wasn't, isn't, likely never will be. Can't carry in any federal building in the entire US, either. There's the real limit of your 2A rights from the government that is supposed to protect them. - OS
  5. Oops, the walls have ears. - OS
  6. I'll save some fun for you; don't tell that weirdo Motasyco. - OS
  7. Promise I'll save some, I have maybe 30 now... - OS
  8. Next weekend good for me... I'd think riot gun best to have IN Memphis! Ooooo, hmmm, never thought of that. What would one use, like food coloring from supermarket? - OS
  9. Been filling up 2 liter ones with water myself, next time we can get together I'll bring 'em and my shotgun. - OS
  10. Yep, 21st-29th. - OS
  11. I have 4 BC steel lipped ones, none were particularly reliable; between the silicone and shooting copper coated rounds, I've put at least 300 flawless through each one now. One I half melted using an blaster cleaner with acetone, and even it works. Guy who first recommended this says you will have to do it every x number of rounds, waiting to have failures before I do it again. - OS
  12. 5 second blast through bottom hole with spray silicone lube, shake, let dry. They'll work. - OS
  13. I looked it up online 'fore I came down, saw nothing about being closed Thurs and Fri, hunt starts Sat. Was going out tomorrow on that basis, but not going now for other reasons. - OS
  14. Whistlepigs WERE a welcome Thanksgiving fare in Appalachia, especially during the depression years. Can testify they are indeed quite good. Supposedly beat Hoover Hog hands down, but never had had one of those to compare. - OS
  15. Well, you do know one, sorry. - OS
  16. YMMV with "postmaster", even if you get to one. If you're going to declare it as firearm, why dissemble? Note: if you READ those laws, you see that you do NOT have to notify the carrier as long as you are shipping to a FFL, even though the BATF FAQ says you do. (I don't know who you're trying to ship to). But the law specifically states that ONLY in the case of shipping to OTHER than license holder do you have to notify. - OS
  17. How do you buy a gun from them? - OS
  18. Sincere condolences on getting married. Congrats on the SKS. - OS
  19. Note that Abbott and the other state attorneys general did NOT file a lawsuit. They are not suing anyone - the blogger's headline is incorrect. Rather, they authored and filed a "friend of the court" brief in support of striking the Chicago ban in the upcoming Supreme Court hearing. - OS
  20. Okay, I'm free Friday, let's reign them in then. - OS
  21. I know nothing of it, except it isn't any cheaper than WallyWorld for up to 500 rounds anyway. 250 rounds Federal at Wally's is 49.49 including the tax and ammo fee. This stuff is 50.97 or 48.42 if you're club member, PLUS shipping. Non-reloadable, and it doesn't say, but looks like steel case. Looks like it might be worth it on 1000 or better 2,500 rounds of it, depending on shipping. Dunno why they're shipping ammo OUT of Pakistan, looks like govt. there would need all they can get, even 30 year old stuff like this! I guess they don't use 9mm much. - OS
  22. The article in American Rifleman has the litany of actions regarding US Constitution vs states rights. And how most every article and amendment that has been tested has been "incorporated" in that the states cannot restrict them via state law. Of course, 2A stands pretty much alone in being totally twisted and ignored, even by the feds of course, until Heller. - OS
  23. Do you get American Rifleman? There's a pretty concise history of Constitutional law findings in regard to 2A in the current issue. Forget NRA or liberal bent, it shows THE rulings thus far and the legal basis for them. Compare that with your textbook, and see how much they differ. Can tell you though that the statement: Seems to be textbook author's opinion, and though it has been used as argument by various counsel, has NOT been the written opinion of any of the federal court decisions thus far, as far as I know having read about them.- OS
  24. Film is film, age of camera not really a factor unless optics are crummy, in which case why use it? Note that images for print should be ~ 300ppi AT GIVEN OUTPUT SIZE; many claim that 220ppi will do to maximize Epson printers. Don't confuse screen rez vs. print rez. You can't "upsample" pixels after the fact. (you can, but no silk purse from sow's ear). Screen rez is in pixels only. An 800x600 pixel image is just that. Will appear different physical sizes on different size monitors, but is simply 480,000 pixels. The "dpi" or print rez, is determined by how x number of pixels are constrained to x amount of print space. 8x12" (full frame from 35mm) image at 220 ppi = 2640x1760 pixels) = apprx. 13 MB uncompressed 8x12" image at 300ppi = 3600x2400 pixels = apprx. 25 MB. I recommend 300 ppi at biggest print size you ever expect to output as archival version. Scanning effort is best maximized by scanning at highest rez you ever expect to output to print and keeping files stored that way, uncompressed. Then downsample to desired screen image size in JPEG. Always go back to original file to further manipulate or resize. Data storage is the cheapest part of computers anymore. - OS
