  1. Kev, I doubt seriously it would be as bad as all that, or none of us would likely even go...but I'll PM you my phone number, IF your phone works there. Mine (ATT) works at the range but not down in the holler where the road is. I expect we'll be there about 11:30, and certainly we'd give ya a hand if needed. - OS
  2. I've given up predicting what TN legislature will do. The old saying is ever more true, "making law is like making sausage - you may or may not like the final product, but both processes can be sickening to watch." - OS
  3. It's a mess, and not sure how informed about it all even the cops are, and would guess that it varies. Carrying past a conforming posted sign is only $500 and is not even specified as to type of offense, although that amount is usually a Class C 'meanor. We've never actually yet heard of anyone being charged with that, though. But of course lots of people have been charged with possession where booze is served through the years BEFORE the recent change in the law that allowed it. They'd usually add the general illegal weapon possession on top of that, too, assuming they didn't have a HCP, or in the days before HCP. So that's another thing this re-enacted ban has done, is put you in higher jeopardy, penalty wise, than merely carrying in boozy place that was posted. - OS
  4. Class A misdemeanor. Max is 11 months 29 days in jail and/or $2,500 fine. - OS
  5. The legislature will NOT designate ONE type of business as not being able to post, while allowing all OTHER businesses to post. Won't. No how, no way. If you're gonna push for something, then push for NO private businesses being able to post, or for posting to have no legal standing, like in some other states. - OS
  6. That's funny!! - OS
  7. Do yourself a favor: Glock and M&P ain't too shoddy either. - OS
  8. I only have the one, and I'd hate to give it up, but would sacrifice it for world peace: - OS
  9. How you honestly expect to get that when you can't carry in a posted restaurant that doesn't sell booze? Or in any posted business for that matter. Or in a posted park? Or posted municipal building? Or ... - OS
  10. You have to be vigilant at all times... UT's IPS (Institute for Public Service), under which MTAS operates, also has the Jimmy Naifeh Center for Effective Leadership. That gives me a warm feeling all right. - OS
  11. There are a number of things you pay for at the University of Tennessee you don't even know about. MTAS is one of them (Municipal Technical Advisory Service) The citizenry should really know more about its flagship university than just "Go Vols". - OS
  12. Better to nip it, I say, nip it in the bud! - OS
  13. I don't understand it all, but can tell you from my previous association with them, much of what MTAS "helps" local government with will be doing badly what need not be done at all. Some towns/counties didn't make them welcome at all, but Jackon is a stronghold, have regional office there. Your UT tax dollars at work. - OS
  14. There an echo in here? - OS
  15. What part of the following do the brilliant legal minds of Jackson not understand? Or am I misunderstanding, and this is not all new? Meaning, enacted before 1968? Or what? ----------------------- 39-17-1314. Local regulation of firearms and ammunition preempted by state regulation — Actions against firearms or ammunition manufacturers, trade associations or dealers. — (a) Except as provided in § 39-17-1311(d), which allows counties and municipalities to prohibit the possession of handguns while within or on a public park, natural area, historic park, nature trail, campground, forest, greenway, waterway or other similar public place that is owned or operated by a county, a municipality or instrumentality thereof, no city, county, or metropolitan government shall occupy any part of the field of regulation of the transfer, ownership, possession or transportation of firearms, ammunition or components of firearms or combinations thereof; provided, that this section shall be prospective only and shall not affect the validity of any ordinance or resolution lawfully enacted before April 8, 1986. ---------------- - OS
  16. Need something bigger than those weenie 3264px × 2448px shots! Nice looking fowling piece to be sure. Umm, what zactly IS it? - OS
  17. 42 choices, and EVERY ONE is back ordered, most Jan to April expected restock! - OS
  18. Like others, I'd like to know, too; I'm in 'Nooga every 6 weeks or so. Heck, there are probably some dealers would like to know. - OS
  19. Sat. fine with me too, just reporting. After all, some guys put nancy pads on Mosins and melt in the rain. I'm goin' up Friday, too, I think. Will warm the place up for us. Got 'nother .22 scope coming for my stainless 10/22 and a new higher front sight on the Marlin .357, I need to get 'em both right. - OS
  20. Sunday is looker better and better: Sat Dec 5 Snow Shower 40° 28° 30% Sun Dec 6 Partly Cloudy 48° 34° 20% - OS
  21. Be fair, now. That's quite a round but it's a "Owen 4-bore" cartridge, not the .577. http://www.sitemason.com/page/fDPJHG - OS
  22. Not too many, though: - OS
  23. Well, I appreciate your sincerity, but just for discussion sake, do you break all laws you feel are unjust, or just some related to firearm possession? Check math. (sorry, couldn't resist that one) - OS
  24. Stingers tend to disintegrate after not much penetration. Works well for small game, but not for humanoid self-defense. Actually, many claim Stingers leave too big a crater in small game, if your purpose is culinary. Matter of fact, plain/jacketed round nose in .22LR at whatever velocity shown better for penetration. With .22 (and .380), it's often said, "you'd LIKE expansion, but you NEED penetration". - OS
  25. .577 T-Rex, I'm pretty sure. - OS
