You can't "unplug" built-in ones. Many years ago, living in an old falling apart country house, one cold night threw some silverware into the sink and blue sparks flew! Turned out to be a shorted water heater element somehow feeding current around water pipes in poorly grounded system. Could have really gotten zapped. That was place that had so many mice, that every night when we fired up the wood stove, could hear all the mice in the walls scurrying in closer to the heat. Also had to shore up a corner of an upstairs dormer that started sagging, due to huge honey deposit from bees. Those were the days. - OS

No. See Bkelm's response and this directly from USPS manual. I actually kind of hate to use BATF FAQ, because they have some FALSE info in it (regarding notification that shipment contains firearm), but here's from USPS service guide: ---------------------------------- 11.1.2 Handguns Pistols, revolvers, and other firearms capable of being concealed on the person (referred to as handguns) are nonmailable unless mailed between the parties listed in 11.1.3 and 11.1.5 after the filing of an affidavit or statement required by 11.1.4 and 11.1.6. 11.1.3 Authorized Persons Subject to 11.1.4, handguns may be mailed by a licensed manufacturer of firearms, a licensed dealer of firearms, or an authorized agent of the federal government or the government of a state, territory, or district, only when addressed to a person in one of the following categories for use in the person's official duties: a. Officers of the Army, Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, or Organized Reserve Corps. b. Officers of the National Guard or militia of a state, territory, or district. c. Officers of the United States or of a state, territory, or district, whose official duty is to serve warrants of arrest or commitment. d. USPS employees authorized by the Chief Postal Inspector. e. Officers and employees of enforcement agencies of the United States. f. Watchmen engaged in guarding the property of the United States, a state, territory, or district. g. Purchasing agent or other designated member of agencies employing officers and employees included in 11.1.3c. through 11.1.3e. 11.1.5 Manufacturers and Dealers Handguns may also be mailed between licensed manufacturers of firearms and licensed dealers of firearms in customary trade shipments, or for repairing or replacing parts. ----------------- - OS

Yes, for Gawd's sake make sure the 220 is dead. And echo that about the tight wiring harness, if a connector comes off and springs behind oven wall back into all that insulation, you can be in for a long search and rescue with pliers, hemostat, coathanger, whatever. The language is never pretty either.- OS

Insurance advertising and lobby effort against the health bill estimated at approx. 3 BILLION bucks. Follow the money indeed. Whatever you may feel about this legislation and the future of the country, don't shed one tear for the insurance companies. They will be fatter than ever, and will continue to find even more devious ways to maximize profits while minimizing payout to the providers and policyholders. I won't even debate the public option, but without it, it's quite obvious that the health insurance industry will merely continue the same industry wide price fixing scheme they rely on now. - OS

Dropped my Blackhawk not too long ago, broke rear sight blade. A call, and had free replacement in a few days. This is only need of Ruger CS I've ever needed, besides Blackhawk have SP101 and a couple of 10/22's. More than likely, that GP will be as solid a revolver as you can buy, but if any probs, I'm sure they'll take care of it. - OS

Compulsory heath insurance, combination of public, subsidized private, and totally private. Insurance companies may compete with rates, but rates per age cannot discriminate with regard to health of applicant, cannot deny coverage for pre-existing conditions, etc. Kind of sounds familiar, doesn't it? - OS

Outstanding. Another one survives the bureaucracy and scores, good for you. - OS

One ? about a HCP requirement caveat
Oh Shoot replied to fizik's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Actually, ANY Class A misdemeanor conviction, HCP suspended for duration of the sentence, INCLUDING PROBATION. So in the case of first time DUI, even though you usually only spend 48 hrs to 7 days in jail (depending on BAC), you are on probation for the rest of the 11 months, 29 days of the full possible sentence. This just happens to coincide with the year's duration of license suspension, but your suspended DL is not a cause for revocation of the HCP, as you could have your DL suspended for other reasons and NOT lose your HCP at all. However, I was unaware you could get your HCP back after that year in the case of DUI - I assumed you'd have to wait the 5 years? But you're right in another sense though, and it's rather ironic, in that a previous conviction of most Class A misdemeanors, does NOT disqualify to receive a HCP in the first place, regardless of the time duration between the conviction and the HCP application. - OS -
'Bout a year ago, leaving a Wally's in 'Nooga, I had bag of ammo bust out bottom just as I was in the foyer ... 100 rounds of WWB 9mm spilled everywhere. Couple of ladies closest to me, one jumps back and literally screams, "BULLETS!" Created a little stir among the other folks in the area. Took me 10 min to find them all...no one was wounded. - OS

Reps/Senators to contact about fixing resturant bill
Oh Shoot replied to macville's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
All moot now, since AG actually HAS appealed, and I'm really amazed by that. Can only assume that he is seeing something in the wind to his advantage to do so, looking past Bredesen. - OS -

65,000 apps in a couple weeks? Doubt it seriously. Anyway, you'll see a real variety of figures on how many permits have been issued, when they were issued, how many are currently issued, etc. For example, TDOS site says 339,000 since Oct. 1996. - OS

It's much quicker now for most folks than it was 1.5 years ago and earlier. I suspect this will be as good as it gets. - OS

Am I the only person that remembers CTD ripping us all off?
Oh Shoot replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in General Chat
Oh, I totally agree....and I pay more to buy local, within reason, IF I can find it. Everything I ever bought from CTD was stuff I can only find online, except for some ammo I bought there before their Big Gouge. But it's silly for me to to "punish" them for selling about 20% of their items at highest possible prices by not buying the things I want from them that really are the cheapest I can find online. Hell, that just "punishes" ME. - OS -
******, Spic, Kike (and/or Kyke), ******... Mick, greaser, beaner, chink, slope, gook, wop, dago, honkie, honkey... Hmmm, only the N word and the gay F word are banned. Apologies for the continuing off topic, back to the regular program... - Oh "just curious" Shoot

Yep, big time conservative rhetoric here, all about free enterprise, no price controls ....I find that pretty ironic, too. - OS -

Am I the only person that remembers CTD ripping us all off?
Oh Shoot replied to Magiccarpetrides's topic in General Chat
I've bought from CTD before, during, and after "the panic". It's not my fault that CTD put ridiculous pricing on a lot of ammo and AK/AR stuff in the last year, and it's not my fault a bunch of people bought it. I didn't, but picked up various stuff during all that from them because it was the best deal I could find. I'm an equal opportunity shopper and seldom avoid a biz because of its politics, gun related or otherwise. Hell, I own a Moonie gun, Rugers, have even bought from Gander Mountain, and use PayPal. I've had eBay buyers purchase stuff from me for more than they could have bought locally at retail - I did not refund them the difference. I'm simply a consumer, and in it for myself when it comes to buying. - OS -
That's only for pirates, matey - goes well with grapeshot barrage while boarding the enemy vessel. Arrrrggghhhh. - OS

- Robert Cooper (AG) is appointed by State Supreme Court - Phil Bredesen has installed 4 of the 5 current Supreme Court judges - Phil Bredesen is against "Guns in Bars" vetoed the passed bill - Robert Cooper has issued opinions that support handgun carry statutes in the absolute narrowest interpretation possible - Would you assume that Robert Cooper would be real hot to try to overturn the ban against the statute by filing an appeal? - OS
