  1.   Well, we're talking red wolves here, and maybe they are more picky or something , I dunno. ;)  Article said basically they just couldn't find enough to eat where they wanted them to stay, so of course they go where people are to raid, just like yotes. They had a more limited range than their bigger bros even before we got here, but could go everywhere, not just in the mountains.   The ones in North Carolina have only been making it by also hunting on private land too, so they obviously can't make it either with the limited protected area where they hoped to keep them.   - OS
  2.   Not a slam, just that I doubt the stupidity needed further detailed explanation. Carry on.   - OS
  3.   Thanks for explaining that to us, Bersa. ;)
  4.   Hell, it's only a three round burst any more, right?
  5. It would be pretty big news if you could document a red one.
  6. Well, Greg has had a substance dependency problems in the past, so maybe he fell off the wagon? - OS
  7.   The smaller red wolves, and supposedly, none survived. That was the problem, they couldn't get them to establish. Story from way back in 98 when they were ending the program:   http://articles.latimes.com/1998/dec/13/news/mn-53449   And looks like the last known wild red wolf population period is gonna be removed form North Carolina too:   http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2015/03/150318-red-wolves-north-carolina-conservation-reintroduction-science/   - OS
  8.   Bill passed with huge Dem majority too, so I don't see much political propaganda ammo there.   Senate vote : 91-3 House vote: 370-58 (dem was 134-49)   - OS
  9. Been 6 months, haven't heard of any suits filed.   - OS
  10.   Oh, I'd say he well knew the wording in the bill before he ever signed it. And that Eric Fanning already has the word to just do nothing. I imagine Hillary would do the same.   I agree that I'd be shocked if an anti-gun zealot like BHO (or Hillary) allowed the Fed to be responsible for putting more handguns out there.   I am a bit surprised the ammo exemption from the Toxic Control Act got through though, what with the EPA being his baby and all. I do wonder if anything "slipped" by, it would be that one?   - OS
  11.   About 75 shots at the scene, and another 75 during the police/SUV battle.   - OS
  12.   Yeah, seems I've never been anywhere near the middle of a bell curve regarding most anything in my whole life.   - OS
  13.   I went to some Kerbela shows when I was in college in the 60's. Whippersnapper. ;)   Seriously, I won't miss the Jacobs venue too much either if that happens, except doing private deals on the front steps is nicer than at Expo. I mainly fear that no other venue will pick up the slack if goes off the rotation.   - OS
  14.   Yeah, I try to keep my tomes novelette length. ;)   But we appreciate the sentiment, JohnC :)   - OS
  15.   Yeah, I gave ya a like for the long one, as found a good bit of truth there, so I'll take some heat too. See my "pot to piss in" post above, which partially reflects some of your points. At the risk of being overly simplistic about it all, I'll add:   This all really first came to a head not to just Iran, but the Muslim world in general back when we so blatantly did the Shah Pahlavi thang. Cost Jimmy Peanut the White House and earned the US near universal hatred in the Muslim world all in one fell swoop. Not to mention the huge flip flops like supporting Saddam for many years, until we, um... didn't anymore and worse, hammered him for no good reason. And I don't even want to get started on the long unholy alliance we've had with the Saudis.  Lots of stuff like that over there for a hundred years or better. But once you do it in the TV era, let alone now in the Internet era, the word really gets around to the millions of little guys, who pass the hatred along to successive generations wrapped up part and parcel in the religious thang too.   So really, though, the practical upshot has been to help keep most Muslims in the MidEast poor by supporting the various strongarm tyrants that insured they stayed that way. Or embargoing the crap out of he ones we didn't control.  All because of oil and the big Risk board game to buffer out Russia where we could. If most Muslims had just been able to kick along at just half the level of the American poor, they'd probably have found another outlet for jihad somewhere along the way a few generations back.   But don't worry y'all, I'll still be poppin' dem caps for the Christian side if push comes to shove here before I get too old to do it. They hate agnostics almost as much as Jews and Christians, I'm sure. ;)   Seriously though, there ain't no middle ground now with what these humanoids have become. None at all. And now it's like fighting a war with non-uniformed combatants, you can't tell 'em apart even with a scorecard, and that means you can't truly trust any of them, or at least I can't.   - OS
  16.   Wow. Thanks for posting. (the "like" is not because I liked the news, of course :))   Jeez, TN is surely going the opposite way from the Patron State of Shootin Stuff than even I counted on.   Since 'bout every other show is at the Expo, I almost all go there when I do go, but sure hate to see the venerable old Jacobs venue cut off.   - OS
  17.   ;)   But seriously, I dunno in good conscience if I could give her that special consideration myself -- hell sounds like she's spooky enough she might have pointed the damn thing at me if I'd just walked by her. And if I happened to have sneezed while doing it maybe she'd have blown my goober off or something.   - OS
  18.   Well, you're probably right.
  19.   Yep, not all that much progress in the 6000 years that we've been living in large groups.   And now the world is crowded, especially the Old World, all of man's endeavors keep accelerating, and the gulf between the haves/have nots only widens. I doubt if Islam would be much the problem it is if the average Muslim had a pot to pee in and a window to throw it out of. Or even the hope of ever getting them.   I certainly see no reason to be very optimistic about some golden age of peace anytime soon.   - OS
  20.   ?? The woman was "one of them", there was only the two. She definitely died in the back of the vehicle, took long time to get her out since they wouldn't just grab her with their hands.   Thing is, I can't find a vid or pic that shows that, but see a number of stories of them both dying in the van, though did find one that says his body was "next to" the van.   - OS
  21.   What pic? Was it one after they dragged him out and away from the SUV or something?   Took a long time to get her out, since they used the grabber thingie to poke around and do it.   I mean, I guess you're right since you seem sure, and I'm confused.  Doesn't really matter, but I'm curious now.   - OS
  22.   Maybe it has to do with TFA putting some pressure on. Here are two recent emails. I don't agree that John has a legal leg with the preemption statute, but then again he's the lawyer not me.   ------------------------------------ FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 12/01/15 CONTACT - johnharris@tennesseefirearms.com Nashville Says "NO" To Gun Shows At Fairgrounds Tennessee Firearms Association Claims Abuse of Power NASHVILLE, TN: The Tennessee Firearms Association's Executive Director, John Harris, today expressed outrage at Nashville's decision to ban gun shows at the city's publicly owned Fairgrounds which has allowed gun shows for decades.   "Today, Nashville, under its new liberal Mayor, has thumbed its nose at Nashville gun enthusiasts by voiding a long-standing tradition of allowing gun shows at the centrally-located and publicly-owned Nashville Fairgrounds." Harris continued, "Tennessee continues to suffer from the chronic infringement of its citizens' Constitutional rights by elected officials who refuse to keep their oaths of office to 'preserve, protect and defend' those same rights. Their actions are a clear abuse of power." The Tennessee Legislature has enacted legislation that removes this authority and discretion from local government officials likely in response to prior abuses.  But much like those elected officials in other cities who openly defy federal immigration laws by creating "sanctuary cities", Mayor Megan Barry apparently feels compelled to join their brazen lawlessness by denying lawful business from being transacted in a public space and infringing the rights of people all over Middle Tennessee to engage in lawful commerce involving firearms and ammunition.   Harris says that Tennessee law is clear. "State law already prohibits local governments from engaging in any form of 'regulation of firearms, ammunition, or components of firearms or ammunition, or combinations thereof including, but not limited to, the use, purchase, transfer, taxation, manufacture, ownership, possession, carrying, sale, acquisition, gift, devise, licensing, registration, storage, and transportation thereof. Mayor Barry progressive leadership of Nashville is clearly in violation of that statute and the city needs to be held accountable for it."   Harris concluded, "TFA will be opposing this and other unlawful and unconstitutional practices by elected officials. We will stand up for the 2nd Amendment and gun owners in Tennessee against this intentional usurpation of our God-given rights as citizens to engage in lawful conduct on public property." The TFA has confirmed also that the Bill Goodman Gun Show that is scheduled at the Nashville Fairgrounds for this weekend will be conducted as scheduled. Those seeking more information should check the Tennessee Firearms Association's website at www.tennesseefirearms.com The Tennessee Firearms Association was founded in 1995 and was formed to defend the right to keep and bear arms and to educate the citizenry on the responsible use, ownership and carrying of firearms. The TFA is Tennessee's only no-compromise gun group.   ----------------------------   And the second:   Dear TFA Member and 2nd Amendment Supporter: You have probably heard by now that the city of Nashville, under the leadership of Megan Barry, has now declared war on gun owners and legitimate business activities by attempting to prohibit gun shows from taking place at the Nashville Fairgrounds as they have for more than three decades!   This assault is an affront to gun owners, gun dealers and gun show promoters.   The good news is that the Tennessee Firearms Association is working closely with the Bill Goodman Gun Shows and the RK Shows to make sure that gunshows continue be held at the Nashville Fairgrounds.  Please carefully consider the important message from Bill Goodman Gun Show:   FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - 12/03/15 CONTACT - Dave Goodman (502) 538-6900 ProGun@GunShow.net www.GunShow.net After Thirty-Five Years, Nashville Fairgrounds Tells Bill Goodman's Gun & Knife Show It Is Unwelcome   NASHVILLE, TN: For over 35 years, Bill Goodman's Gun & Knife Show has been a monthly fixture at the fairgrounds in Nashville. But yesterday, the Fair Board unilaterally decided to end its long-standing relationship, effective January 1st, 2016, despite the fact that Goodman has already contractually booked monthly events at the fairgrounds through the end of 2016.   (THE GUN SHOW SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEKEND AT NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS DEC 5-6 IS NOT AFFECTED AND WILL GO ON AS PLANNED! HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL THERE). Bowing to political pressures, and fueled by confusion as to the so-called gun show "loophole," the Fair Board enacted a broad policy banning gun shows at its facilities altogether. "It is disappointing that the Fair Board has chosen to go down this path," said Dave Goodman, the promotor behind the Goodman shows. "We have been a loyal partner with the Fair Board for the better part of four decades. When others left for greener pastures, we stayed. I can't imagine that there is any other show or event with a longer running, more regular track record of partnership with the Fair Board than ours."   "We certainly understand that, as a part of the firearm industry, we operate in a world that is not only highly regulated, but also highly politicized," Goodman added. "It is important for the public to know that every law and regulation that applies to sales of firearms outside of a gun show applies just as equally inside a gun show. And while it is not required by law, all of our vendors at our Nashville shows are federally licensed firearm dealers and must adhere to the same requirements as if a transaction were taking place in their own stores. We regularly invite local and federal law enforcement agencies to attend our shows, and it is a standing policy that free booth space is available to ATF at every show should they wish to take advantage of that for educational or other purposes."   Goodman does not have any plans of going away quietly noting that "the law-abiding people of middle Tennessee have supported us for the better part of 35 years, and they deserve to have access to the type of events that the Fair Board is trying to take away. We are exploring our options, but we believe that Tennessee's preemption statute, Constitutional concerns, right of access, and other issues prohibit what the Fair Board is trying to do." TFA is encouraging everyone who can to attend and support the Bill Goodman Gun Show this weekend and to let Mayor Megan Barry and the city of Nashville know, loud and clear, that we will not tolerate assaults on our rights as gun owners to purchase firearms and ammunition. 23.   Yeah, I've not even heard AK mentioned.   But you've got to say it right, it was a Smith and Wesson Military and Police model, like the news reporting generally does.  Supports the meme of the police being undergunned which I've heard any number of times by various talking heads.   - OS
  24.   He only mentioned the .22lr once AFAIK. Not gonna re-listen yet again, but if he said "long rifle rounds", most likely talking about the .223.   - OS
  25.   Yes, you're right, just re-listened. said, "male suspect, who was the driver, got out and fired at officers". So between the pictures and other reports which said both were dead "in" the car, I think he stood right by the side of car with the door still open and slumped back mostly into it when he was plugged, like the picture sort of shows.   - OS
