  1. You were told wrong. The $115 includes fingerprinting price at any authorized fingerprinting station, that the DMV gives you a list of. I had mine done at a UPS Store in Knoxville, for example. - OS
  2. Correct. Fine. It's only currently banned in places that serve alcohol for ONSITE CONSUMPTION. - OS
  3. Just a note...looks like they've reorganized the site just since you've posted this. Bad link now, seems. edit: Matter of fact, whole URL of http://www.atf.treas.gov/ doesn't work. - OS
  4. Ah, very nice...the one I didn't get to see in person! - OS
  5. Connect on puter directly with modem only to test? Might have to let it reset puter IP, assuming modem does have connection. Can reboot, or (in XP, same in Vista I guess?): Start/Run: Command ipconfig /release ipconfig /renew - OS
  6. "Unicef supports UN Gun Control Treaty" UNICEF was created by the UN, gets much of its funding directly from different international governments who of course are influenced still by the UN, so that's hardly surprising. - OS
  7. Boy, them Nancy pads are freaking miracles, aren't they? - OS
  8. Weren't all Hooter's posted sometime after the initial statute passed? - OS

    Holsters???

Which way you carry? David Bullard makes Dual Carry (IWB, my avatar), and BodyGuard (OWB) for the XDM. Maybe some other models holster too. Gun Leather, Concealment and Cowboy holsters, Azle, TX. - OS

    XD or XDm

I've shot the XDM .40, and it's sweet, so I'm sure the 9 is too. The .40 didn't feel like any of the other .40s I've shot, felt almost gentle with range ammo. Of course for carry, the XD subbie mostly will rule unless they do something similar with the XDM. - OS
  11. Yeah, that's what I've seen quoted on some forums, but you're the first to find actual bill, so that's what I wanted to see quoted from. Congrats, FG! (I'm sorry, there's no cash prize). "... ( Protecting the Right of Individuals To Bear arms in Units of the National Park System and the National Wildlife Refuge System- The Secretary of the Interior shall not promulgate or enforce any regulation that prohibits an individual from possessing a firearm including an assembled or functional firearm in any unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System if-- (1) the individual is not otherwise prohibited by law from possessing the firearm; and (2) the possession of the firearm is in compliance with the law of the State in which the unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System is located." I'm also pretty sure that the previous DOI rule only allowed concealed, regardless of state open carry laws. -OS

    XD or XDm

XD 9 Service holds 16+1, the XDM9 19+1 XDM somewhat bigger... The mags are NOT interchangeable, though, which may well keep me from every buying an M, since I have XD SC and Service 9s. I may eventually get the tactical to round out the group, rather than the M. - OS
  13. I'll bet you can't do it! - OS
  14. That's the previous Dept. of Interior rule, that was squashed, FG. I'm looking for the actual congressional LAW that will go into effect, the one tacked onto the credit card bill. I've found two renditions, one mentions concealed with an "or", one mentions concealed with an "and", but neither are the final version of what actually was signed into law. Neither NRA-ILA nor the federal archive sites have been any help. It certainly doesn't matter to me, as I conceal carry everywhere, but just as a point of interest. - OS
  15. I'm pretty sure THIS new law allows carry in the same manner that the state in which the park resides allows and that the PREVIOUS Interior Dept. rule change, signed during Dubya's time, only allowed concealed carry. - OS edit: I could have this backwards, but I can't prove it to myself one way or the other yet - can't find copy of actual new law.
  16. Some of the cowboy loads I mentioned wouldn't hit within a foot of each other at 10 yards with 2-5" barreled handguns. Mike.357's 9mm loads varied about the same from 50 yards, using carbine. "Range" ammo ain't much use if it isn't at least moderately consistent. - OS

    Man vs Wild

You can absorb some of it in system ...the main thing the colon does is absorb water out of your waste. Famous story of the Robertson family, all SIX of them, catamaran sunk in minutes by a pod of killer whales in 1971 while on a Pacific crossing. They made it 38 days with next to nothing; one way they made it was wife was a nurse, and gave everybody salt water enemas every day, or several times a day, or whatever. I read the book long time ago, called Survive the Savage Sea. - OS
  18. Meaning they just sit around and fret? - OS
  19. Legislature hasn't even cranked up yet. Don't expect any action for at least a month, maybe 3, maybe ? - OS
  20. Working on a web site for my ex-wife (really) and watching movies, occasional foray to a site or two, like TGO. - OS

    Clips

And to top it off, them clips is only 14.99 at Cabelas.com. Or 13.74 if you buy 4. - OS
  22. Wow, well you sure went high on the hog since our discussion yesterday! Congrats. - OS
  23. I've never seen ANYthing for the Plinksters. I have the bolt model 802. My take is that it would be a poor investment to throw much money at a 100 or less rifle. But just in case I'm wrong, ask in the Mossberg section at rimfirecentral.com - OS
  24. They've quit offering the Gold Dot bullet, at least in 9mm, some time ago. Their top 'o the line for 9mm now "Speer bonded unicore hollowpoint". - OS
  25. I believe I'd call em too, just to see if you get same brush off as TDR. Sounds like a bad day on the assembly line to me. - OS
