  1. If you use tvguide.com, set it for your town and carrier, you can search for programming. Next showing it finds is Tue, Jan 19 11:00 PM - OS
  2. Yep, see my other response, dunno what I was thinking (wasn't, obviously). - OS
  3. Of course...slept in, still on first cuppa at the time. Duh. - OS
  4. Most of it was rambo fantasy, I thought. One small example: leave a tall building covertly by shinnying down interior elevator cables. Sure, everybody could safely do that. Right. - OS
  5. Opting out of newest park carry statute, meaning prohibiting carry, YES they have to post, and they have to post exactly with statute wording and sign size, unlike normal business posting. Obviously, I can't answer your further question as to classification of the path. - OS
  6. Isn't this pertinent also?: "39-17-1314. Local regulation of firearms and ammunition preempted by state regulation — Actions against firearms or ammunition manufacturers, trade associations or dealers. — (a) Except as provided in § 39-17-1311(d), which allows counties and municipalities to prohibit the possession of handguns while within or on a public park, natural area, historic park, nature trail, campground, forest, greenway, waterway or other similar public place that is owned or operated by a county, a municipality or instrumentality thereof, no city, county, or metropolitan government shall occupy any part of the field of regulation of the transfer, ownership, possession or transportation of firearms, ammunition or components of firearms or combinations thereof; provided, that this section shall be prospective only and shall not affect the validity of any ordinance or resolution lawfully enacted before April 8, 1986." - OS
  7. Well, is it posted? And to split hairs, if posted, is it done so compliant with statute? - OS
  8. It means that most local gun prohibitions are still valid if they were enacted before 4/8/86 and are still on the books. For example, carry in Knoxville parks/rec areas is banned by local ordinance, and they didn't have to post them as per state law to do it. If they wanted to fall back on state law statute, they would have to abolish the long standing local ordinance. As I read the statue, it even seems that local laws enacted before that date could even include gun registration and whatnot, or even outright banning gun ownership. I guess it's just that no TN jurisdiction ever did that. - OS
  9. American Institute of Philanthropy doesn't think much of the United States Fund for UNICEF, gives them a C-. - OS
  10. Keeping a good thought. I just gave $100 to Doctors Without Borders today to be used down there. All I could spare. - OS
  11. I could do it to this very day, Strick, really I could. But the pain, oh the pain. - OS
  12. It is. TT Gunleather. The Slim Uncle Mike's Special version, "slim" means no trim, "Uncle Mike's" has little more cant. Under $100 delivered, but took six months to get, though. D.M. Bullard another of my top pics (avatar). I only ordered the TT 'cause I always wanted to try a quality one with leather belt loops, didn't like the Broomeland I handled and, yep, turns out I like them better. Guess I oughtta change the avatar. - OS
  13. My considered opinion is that if we only have a depression about equal to the '30's in America, we'll lose at least a quarter of our population in the first few years, maybe significantly more and quicker. Of course, there are worse possible disasters, which would be ... well, way worse. At my age, single and with no real family, I keep about 3 months food and water and whatnot, but if the worst happened, that's mainly just to get enough breathing room to see if it's worth continuing to struggle, assuming I made it that long. I do believe though, that if I were younger and/or had an immediate family, I'd be thinking in terms of at least a year's supply of essentials, and a real backup location that would increase the odds, and likely the type of preps that might come into play in the very long term (like heirloom seeds). Tinfoil territory? Dunno, we're in uncharted territory. I see my limited effort as about as reasonable as carrying a spare tire, no more. Population alone makes for unprecedented scenarios, and ultimately is the primary cause of the quality of life to continue a significantly decline, and ultimately crash. - OS
  14. One million over 33 years = 83 times a day, not counting rounding error or leap years. - OS
  15. I guess the biggest forum is: Survivalist Forum Survival Gear Reviews and Self Sufficiency Articles It has its share of tin foilery, but is also a hugely valuable resource. Many gigs of down-loadable guides, how-tos, databases, etc. They have been having intermittent site probs, too, probably just another case of a popular site outgrowing hosting. - OS
  16. That didn't take long. OP didn't ask for a comparison, or I would have mentioned it myself. - OS
  17. XD SC9 was actually the 3rd heater I bought to carry. The other two are fine pieces and I'll always keep them, but the XD is it, been toting it daily for about a year and a half. After I started carrying it, they upped the flush mag design to hold 13 instead of 10, so it got even better. Just about any XD discussion will eventually involve the grip safety. It was a big plus for my decision to go with it. Chunky little sucker, like all double stacks, and weighs exactly two pounds loaded with 13+1. If one is comfy carrying 6 or 7 +1 there are lighter and thinner options, but this baby just feels solid and comfy to me. Really built. Unlike many small carry options that are made to be carried much and shot little, the XD SC is a pleasure to shoot. - OS
  18. Could be that unless you have a special problem, Lisa is tiring of emails, since her address is not even listed on site any more. - OS
  19. Absolutely nothing wrong with the factory birch stock on the basic carbine. As I mentioned, if that used one I had bought had had that on it, would have been just fine. Just need to add sling studs maybe. Btw, if you want to do that, both Uncle Mike's and Blackhawk make a set that has extra stud that can use in the barrel band for the forward one, rather than drill/screw into the forearm. If you're gonna put a bipod on it, though, you need the forearm stud. Or use both. - OS
  20. Dude! "Mac" and Mc" are Scottish, not Irish! Strike two! - OS
  21. If you speak or write to her, you might want to use her correct name: Lisa Knight (not McKnight). Couldn't hurt. - OS
  22. Wow. I'm glad Will Rogers never got a chance to meet you; he would have had to retract his most famous line. - OS
  23. I have had two bad splitters over the last five years or so. Doesn't affect TV but affects Net. I can't imagine what can go south in such a simple device, but have proven that they do. - OS
