  1. My pants all accommodate IWB or not. Just makes one belt notch difference. Main prob would be if one wears pretty snug form fitting britches, and especially if trying to tuck. - OS
  2. My magnet assures me that the main trigger is steel. The trigger safety insert is either polymer or a non-magnetic alloy. - OS

    Two questions

CLP is all over the place, maybe even WalMart (can't remember for sure). FFL dealers at gunshows have various phone or net access to TICS there on the spot. Most I've seen in Knoxville use the net, I guess the venue provides WiFi or something. - OS
  4. Both my XDs have steel triggers. The center "safety" part is plastic or alloy, but the actual trigger with the striations is steel. Surely yours is, too? - OS
  5. Yep, looks like TWO nice pairs. - OS
  6. I keep a tentative appointment there on Thursdays about 12 or 1. I look for min 45 degrees and no steady rain, though. Might go different days though, depending - anybody wants to hook up, just PM me. Bagging tomorrow, though, looks quite wet. Also up there many a Sat or Sun with The Usual Suspects, most of whom have to work during the week, poor guys. - OS
  7. See Anasham's post above, and my retractions. I took a whole erroneous bent on this, apologies. - OS
  8. Good point, and I overlooked that, mea culpa. " (10) That the applicant is not an unlawful user of or addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance and the applicant has not been a patient in a rehabilitation program or hospitalized for alcohol or controlled substance abuse or addiction within ten (10) years from the date of application;" Don't know why I concentrated on the "mental" part (must be mental, LOL),... I'm editing my previous posts so as not to cause disinformation. thanks, OS
  9. zapped, erroneous info
  10. zapped, wrong info.
  11. You guys know that MA has mandatory and universal health care already, yes? And that Scott Brown voted for it, yes? And of course it ain't working up there. - OS
  12. "The Soviet Union had a single, entrenched, systemically corrupt political party, which held a monopoly on power. The U.S. has two entrenched, systemically corrupt political parties, whose positions are often indistinguishable, and which together hold a monopoly on power. In either case, there is, or was, a single governing elite, but in the United States it organized itself into opposing teams to make its stranglehold on power seem more sportsmanlike." - Post-Soviet Lessons for a Post-American Century Dmitry Orlov
  13. People your age will be saying that in 2050, if indeed there are elections then. - OS
  14. If only he were something other than a Democrat OR Republican, I'd see it as a ray of hope, too. - OS
  15. Jeez, you don't think the statute is crystal clear? How unusual. - OS
  16. Very cool indeed. I feel TN getting safer already! - OS
  17. Actually I do...you are 'bout the coolest whippersnapper I know. Here's HSM bulk .500 SW for only $1.45 per round. Hollowpoints, no less. HSM Bulk .500 S&W Ammunition : Cabela's I'll pay the shipping for just 5 shots with it. - OS
  18. But but but, I thought having matching .357 revolver and levergun was cool, but THAT, wow! You'd be the only guy around that had matching .500's, and I could brag to people that I know you! - OS

    What are these?

Here's some info from couple of threads on other forums: According to the Blue Book, 336CS production began in 1984. Only in 1994 did checkering become standard. 'C' is for the deluxe models with walnut stock 'S' is for the cross bolt safety. the s was added in the early 80's when they installed CBS, around 02/03 they dropped the s, etc - OS
  20. That's got 70below's name all over it. - OS

    What are these?

All you have to do is post this same thing on marlinowners.com in the 336 section. I have a Marlin 30-30, but know little about the lineage of them...but can tell you that they have varied quite a bit through the years, checkering, pistol grip/straight stock, barrel band/end cap, etc etc. The rabid fans on the forum will tell all, though, if a guru doesn't appear here. - OS
  22. HKs are really expensive, because they're made overseas from polymer and steel. Oh, wait... - OS
  23. Well, as far as national forest within TN, state statute specifically allows it as long as federal law does not forbid it, which it doesn't. On Feb. 22, you can carry by federal law in National Parks, but I haven't a clue as to whether "National Park" includes all areas managed by National Park Service or not. A quick look at National Park managed classifications include: --------------------------- Classification as of 2003 - Number - Acreage National Military Park, National Battlefield Park, National Battlefield Site, and National Battlefield 24 71,502.49 National Historical Park, National Historic Site, and International Historic Site 123 228,260.60 National Lakeshore 4 228,995.14 National Memorial 28 10,588.45 National Monument 74 2,027,864.58 National Park 58 52,095,045.71 National Parkway 4 177,339.69 National Preserve and National Reserve 20 24,191,311.63 National Recreation Area 18 3,700,277.20 National River and National Wild and Scenic River and Riverway 15 746,262.99 National Scenic Trail 3 239,659.27 National Seashore 10 595,013.55 Other Designations (White House, National Mall, etc) 11 36,826.96 Totals 392 84,331,948.26 ---------------------- Obviously, you can't carry at the White House, so I guess a blanket "all areas managed by National Park Service" policy isn't realistic. - OS
  24. Norris range. You'll need to take cardboard boxes or something for your targets, as shortest target stands are 50 yards. Although the pistol range has same type plywood backstops, you can probably get away with shooting shottie there if no one else is using them. Although, on second thought, since you can blow big single holes in the backstops from close range, maybe you should use cardboard boxes with your targets on them...you can bring them flat, and tape 'em together when you get there. - OS
  25. Just to clarify, I don't own one; reason I said it worked, kid at Norris had one, fired several Butler Creek long mags worth with it, just fine, he said he'd had it for a good while. It's pretty simple, no reason it wouldn't work indefinitely. Practical? No. - OS
