  1. I never had much luck trying to tuck much of anything, fortunately I don't have to anymore. Crossbreed supertuck is a common choice. One of my favorite makers, D.M. Bullard, makes Dual Carry, which allows tucking option. He also makes a tuckable IWB, but that one only has single clip on fat part of gun, something I don't personally recommend, but some seem to like it fine. A simple and quickly received option is High Noon holsters' Split Decision, although again, it has single attachment at fat part of gun. There are many others, these are just some to get you started looking. - OS
  2. So far, no one on TGO has ever even been able to point to a case where anyone in the state has even been charged with carrying in a posted business, a compliant posted one or not. So apparently there has never been a test case, or at least, a conviction that was appealed high enough to get any press. - OS
  3. Ya, agreed. But, smile sounds like might have been rather enigmatic, doc could maybe know the score. Like maybe sign mandated by the corporation, but he hip on the law, knows it isn't compliant. No way to know. My doc (large partner place + walk in clinic) has a simple "no concealed weapons" sign. So yeah, I've been tempted to OC there. But have decided not to mention it at all. I usually have a pack with me, so I put heater in pack, and carry it in; matter of fact, last two times I've been by there, I've been on foot. I generally have to take shirt off anyway, so why make it a blatant issue? Don't ask, don't tell applies in majority of places I go. - OS
  4. I believe it might have been another day...and there were pics, but I don't have a clue regarding successful search, probably had "Norris" in title (maybe). Searching is getting more problematic as only goes back 500 posts on individual username now, not sure if there's a cut off date on all searches or what. Anyway, basically, de boyz had some Czech 7.62x54 for the Mosins, in large sealed spam can, took three of us, with pliers, gloves, pry bar, and me standing on the thang to get it open. I was being very altruistic in the endeavor, since I don't have a Mosin! - OS
  5. 1 3/4" belts start limiting what pants you can wear, and also what holsters you can use, as many come with slots, clips, or loops that only fit 1.5". - OS
  6. Good, figgered it would. Didn't see much need in eradicating a flammable volatile liquid with another, like alcohol. - OS
  7. Hamilton Place has no guns notice at the main entrances (best I remember, not statute compliant ones). And no signs at the anchor store entrances. By, the way, all this talk about not staying near the Comedy Catch is kind of moot, since there's only one motel anywhere near there I know of, a Rodeway Inn, 5505 Brainerd Rd, 'bout 3 miles back, at Spring Creek Rd. It actually oughtta be safe enough. I eat at China Moon a lot when I'm down there, next to it in Eastgate, lots more places to eat right around there. Brainerd doesn't really start getting somewhat gnarly till after Belvoir toward town, IMHO. 'Course, about 3 miles the other way from club, you're downtown, so whichever. - OS
  8. Well it has kerosene and probably other petroleum stuff in it... I'd try some sudsy dishwashing soap solution, since it eats grease. (the sink washing kind, not the auto dishwasher stuff) Try it on one little section first, make sure it doesn't make it worse or something. - OS
  9. I think that a Kahr PM9 is already pushing the engineering limits of function vs. miniaturization. I'm really not willing to go smaller, especially if it entails less firepower. - OS
  10. Looks iffy to me. Two ways to snap it open. The thumb stud on blade is fine, but I can't see how the other release on the top of handle differs from a button on handle, switchblade-wise: - OS
  11. Not a top choice for TEOTWAWKI, that's for sure. - OS
  12. Well, unless there really IS some glitch in your mag release assembly on your particular gun, I can't think of anything they could do to make it release a full mag easier, unless they do some custom type beveling on the catch or something. Again, if this were a widely "known issue" I think it would be a common topic on XDtalk, which it isn't. The "known issue" is that XD mags are tight and difficult to release when full. Release easily empty or after a few rounds expended or by pressing full mag upwards while pressing release button. It may also loosen up some over time. Some folks mention a mod or two, but I'd be extremely careful with any of those, as the worst thing on a mag is for it to come loose when you DON'T want it to. typical threads: New XD 40. Slide Release Extremely Tough - XDTalk Forums - Your XD/XD(m) Information Source! Mag Release button awfully tough to push - XDTalk Forums - Your XD/XD(m) Information Source! Any way to adjust the mag release? - XDTalk Forums - Your XD/XD(m) Information Source! Of course, it's possible that your particular gun does indeed have an atypical prob, anything's possible. - OS
  13. Well, there are weekend sales and WEEKEND SALES. I'm thinking of a vendor that drives 700 miles round trip for the Knoxville shows and couldn't sell anything. I'd imagine the vendor in mind likely does $40-50K (or even much more) over a two day show. I hope for their sake they didn't show due to weather forecast, being about the best big outfit that always comes; I don't know, didn't go myself. - OS
  14. Did the extractor still have a good hold on shell rim when it only cycled half way? Meaning, for sure the bolt didn't go all the way back, but leave the shell? (just narrowing down that it's not purely an extractor issue?) - OS
  15. Which is why precision holster makers have different molds for the .45acp models. Bullard, who Alpha linked, has 4" and 5" models for 9mm/.40/.357/.45GAP. And separate models for 4" and 5" .45ACP. And of course, another model for the Sub Compacts. All these makers, when they say "XD .45", mean .45ACP. Bullard just didn't mention .45GAP in the first series, I guess because there are so few out there. I've read couple places that XD has ceased making the .45GAP, but it's still shown on their site as an option, so dunno about that. The only major holster maker that I've noticed which doesn't distinguish between the .45ACP model is Crossbreed, who lumps all service XD's, but I don't understand how the .45ACP would fit well in those. Crossbreed also doesn't take into account barrel/slide length on same frame guns either, since the barrels all stick out the bottom, the longer the barrel the more they protrude. - OS
  16. New? I thought Crossbreed only sold straight from website? - OS
  17. It's nice you're seeing a blind gal, but wouldn't a movie be wasted? - OS
  18. Best to accompany arrogance with accuracy. :-\ Great holster, wrong size. Nightrunner has it pegged. - OS
  19. I was up there Thurs afternoon, had whole place to myself for 2.5 hours. So I was able to practice my CONTACT! tuck and roll drill without being razzed by any of The Usual Suspects. They'll see, it'll be a life saver one of these days. - OS
  20. Well, springs are quite firm in these, and initially tough to fill to capacity with just fingers. I generally use mag loader on my XD9 SC and Service mags even now, particularly on the subbie, as the last couple rounds are still tough to get in with fingers only. I still can't release full 13 round flush mag with thumb, just barely can with trigger finger on other side, but have to regrip gun to do that. CAN release with thumb in normal shooting position once 3 or 4 rounds are spent, all the way to empty. XDtalk has constant newbies asking if difficulty to release full mag is normal - answer is always, yes, push up on mag and release. .40 is harder than 9mm, and the subbie mags are harder than the full size, with the .40 subbie mags apparently the toughest of all. And after all, how important is it to be able to easily drop a full mag anyway? I can't think of any SD or "tactical" situation where that would be a plus. Anyway, all I'm saying is, don't be shocked if it's the same in this regard when you get it back. - OS
  21. Just a couple of comments: Ammo tax goes directly to TWRA to help fund them... $10 gun "tax" isn't a tax at all, it only reimburses the FFL who is charged $10 for the TICS background check by the state, this fee was set by the TN legislature. - OS
  22. I don't believe there was anything wrong with your .40, Alpha. The .40s are known to be a tight fit, but I've never read anything on XDtalk about it being a "known issue". Both subcompact models are tight, including the 13 round 9mm mag. All of these release easily, though, if you push in (upward) on the loaded mag while releasing. It's generally not an issue if you use them for IDPA or whatever though, as they release easily empty, of half empty. - OS
  23. Did not see the herd of lasses. 4:20: little parking, every lane open and jammed, people actually waiting on carts. Just walked through to warm up a minute. Walked on over to Goodwill, bought 12 books, half of them hardbacks, for $3.25. Big spender. - OS
  24. Sometimes that's just an oncoming train. I don't see anything this clean possibly passing. If it could, why didn't it happen in the last session? - OS
