  1. The XD probably saw a Taurus from too close and went into shock. Actually, he sent it off for some custom work. He also thought it has a mag release problem (maybe, but I'm doubting it). - OS
  2. Need to make a book of all the bad info taught at these various classes. Michie.com You want 39-11-611. Self-defense Here's page broken out of their damn frames format: Michie's Legal Resources the pertinent phrases here are: (2) Notwithstanding § 39-17-1322, a person who is not engaged in unlawful activity and is in a place where the person has a right to be has no duty to retreat before threatening or using force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury, if: © Any person using force intended or likely to cause death or serious bodily injury within a residence, business, dwelling or vehicle is presumed to have held a reasonable belief of imminent death or serious bodily injury to self, family, a member of the household or a person visiting as an invited guest, when that force is used against another person, who unlawfully and forcibly enters or has unlawfully and forcibly entered the residence, business, dwelling or vehicle, and the person using defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry occurred. - OS

  5. Patience, grasshopper. Someday you'll be able to snatch the pebble. - OS
  6. Called the "Virginia Tuck", where permit holders expose their concealed weapons. More of an "untuck" really, but meaning tuck your shirt or cover garment behind the weapon so it can be seen. Open carry without a permit is legal in VA, and there was no law prohibiting open carry in boozy places, only against permit holders. A permit is required to carry concealed. Just crazy stuff like that all over the US. - OS
  7. UT has president who is "CEO" over entire UT system state wide. Chancellors are the "COO's" of each campus. - OS
  8. Yes, it does. Statute was revised in 2007 to include forcible entry into vehicles. Once a window is broken, would think that would indicate forcible entry. Statute also strengthened the "no retreat necessary" in any situation where you have a legal right to be. Well, there is still the statute that says you won't be charged with a possession crime if you must use your firearm in justifiable self defense, whether you have permit or not. But I agree they should extend the no permit carry right to vehicles.- OS
  9. 10mm4me might have a legal leg to stand on in TN if he waited till window is broken, rather than "as soon as he touched my vehicle". - OS
  10. The elusive orca was probably hiding from you spelling felons ("Shamu"). - OS

    Slugs in shotguns

Yep, the "rifling" on slug is really a misnomer. - OS
  12. Greyhound has a no guns policy. Not even to ship them. What I've read on forums, whether they screen for them in baggage or on person seems to vary according to terminal. Federal law is clear about no guns on airlines, but also seems to indicate no guns on interstate buses also: "Any passenger who owns or legally possesses a firearm being transported aboard any common or contract carrier for movement with the passenger in interstate or foreign commerce must deliver the unloaded firearm into custody of the pilot, captain, conductor, or operator of such common or contract carrier for the duration of the trip." Which is rather non sequitur since I'm sure the bus driver would not accept the weapon. - OS

    Slugs in shotguns

Well, Remington doesn't even make a cylinder bore Rem Choke for 870s or Wingmaster. I have never read that anyone has blown up or even stretched a barrel shooting rifled slugs through improved cylinder or modified chokes. Matter of fact, I never found any real credible claim that even full choke with rifled slugs damaged a barrel. Main complaint is that any tighter than modified may affect accuracy as the slug will deform. I'd posit that if it were dangerous to shoot them through tight chokes, there would be all kinds of warnings on ammo boxes and barrels. Could be, I don't know anything about those type barrels. Are there warnings on the barrels or in the product manuals? - OS

  15. Okay, technical point conceded. Indeed. Since the actual topic is regarding modifying requirements for Chancellor, not for a President. Sorry for the tangent. - OS
  16. The answer to what question is no? Who were you responding to? What did they say? - OS
  17. In what, from where? He has BA from Vandy and basic 3 year law degree from New York University of Law. - OS
  18. Is it legal for you to possess an AK47 in Wisconsin? If so, federal law allows you to do so, and Chicago can have no law that forbids it. - OS
  19. Obviously custom fitted to an individual or three. Chancellor is supposed to be a highly esteemed academic honor; but let's just sell it to whichever crook needs the job. After all, Lamar didn't even have a PHD, and he was "president" of UT, mostly in absentia, of course. That worked out well, since he shot down university funding to a level that has never been restored. - OS

    Slugs in shotguns

It's the opposite. Shoot sabot slugs in rifled barrels. Shoot rifled slugs in smooth barrels. Most advice says that modified chokes and looser are okay for slugs. You probably won't find an actual "cylinder bore" choke, but you can use improved cylinder. - OS
  21. Does your mom have a drivers license? The TDL written test is 10 times harder than the HCP one and unlike the TDL test, she'll be coached on all the answers first. - OS

  24. Nothing in TN code prohibiting a double sided blade, although "daggers" are mentioned in the school weapons statute. Actually, if you read that statute, it seems that any knife except "bowie, hawkbill, dagger, or switchblade" would be okay to carry in a school. And the switchblade mention is sort of redundant, since they are illegal to carry anywhere. - OS
  25. I wonder just what this "print farm" is, a couple of part timers with an Epson and hand laminator? I mean, they can put a driver's license in your hand while you wait, just sayin... - OS
