  1. You seem to be mixing nuclear power plants and nuclear missiles into the same bag. You say "fallout" but talk only of nuclear plant meltdown. "Fallout" requires an explosion. A power plant meltdown would irradiate, but would not create the same type of fallout risk pattern as a nuclear bomb/warhead, not to mention the immediate destruction comparison. At any rate, nuclear plants are designed to be shut down quite quickly and even automatically, and are "hardened" against EMP attack, meaning that they can at least generate enough internal power to cover the fuel rods and shut down. Supposedly failsafe against internal manual intentional sabotage. How well would this work in actuality? Not sure anyone except a double naught seven security cleared expert probably knows. As far as actual coordinated thermonuclear missile attack and East TN, two words: Oak Ridge (although it's generally considered a secondary target, not primary). My limited SHTF preps simply don't include nuclear war, except to perhaps break open the case of bourbon and steel myself to blow my brains out when the radiation sickness symptoms become severe. Many think that rather than nuclear holocaust scenario, the greater likelihood is an EMP event. Two or three correctly placed blasts at the correct altitude = 300 million desperate people plunged into 1870. Of course, this might also trigger silos and subs around the world to let things rip too, in which case see my above plan. - OS
  2. No. You might prompt him to put up a statute compliant no carry notice on front door. No. But any business can post to ban carry in general. But not because they sell booze to go. - OS
  3. Well, in short, I believe in using sights when you have the extra second or two to do it. I just don't count on having those seconds. But then, I haven't won or lost a gunfight to lend credence to the approach. - OS
  4. Don't believe in point shooting, eh? I practice it some, first shot from first clearing leather (where you couldn't see your sights if you wanted to). Two more shots before gun is in position even close to eye level. Gee...maybe a laser WOULD work. - OS
  5. I don't expect to use sights at all if I have to Really Shoot my carry gun. - OS
  6. Ironic on the timing of seeing this. I had a Buck 110 at one time, got away from me somehow years ago -- but just this very day, while ordering a scope off Amazon, I've got another one coming, the 110FG (with the finger grooves). Oh yeah, nice pistola too. XD fan here. - OS

  8. Obviously is, since Bass Pro "free standing" store in Kodak has no signs at all. - OS
  9. They made two different styles, plus a double and single holder of each type. I tried one of their last models when I was first experimenting with spare mag carry, it was huge for the purpose, was overall big enough to carry a Kahr on. Sent it back for refund. - OS
  10. If anyone saw any more than an hour or two ago, the odds are almost 100% it's gone now. - OS
  11. No federal law against buying/selling long guns from FFLs in any state, by residents of any state. However, some states have the "bordering state" only okay for long guns. The handgun purchase law is federal, and no state law can override it. - OS
  12. Great timing. Closed on Tues and Wed. Should be open other 5 days. Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - Firing Ranges - OS
  13. However, I see that their Chinese hats did not dissuade you from the the greater good of being an NRA member. I believe that was my extended point as far as that detail. Also, let's not forget that many Americans work for Budweiser and Miller. And foreign car companies built in USA. And in all the stores and their supply chains that sell foreign made items, or assemble them, or service them. Ad infinitum. It ain't our grandaddy's economy anymore, like it or not. - OS
  14. Can only conclude that THAT officer interpreted 39-17-1321 (IF he even considered it) to mean that you'd need to have same level of intoxication as DUI statute to be "under the influence". But mdmoseley here, says that wouldn't be necessary to be arrested for it. Conclusion: as I've opined, it's quite obvious interpretation is left to the individual LEO as far as arrest. Hence, gray as can be. - OS
  15. Absolutely WRONG. Residents of all states may purchase long guns, from FFL only, not from private sales. IF the dealer will do it; some won't. He was misinformed or misunderstood. - OS
