  1. It's not optimal for speed, no, I'm certainly not Mr. Tactical. I'm much quicker to reload my XD from mag carrier in left front pocket when I carry that option. I hope that 7 is enough or at least that (feets get moving!) I'm still alive and behind cover should I need a reload. Actually, of course, I hope that 0 is enough. - OS
  2. D and R have become semantic terms only. The "left/right" aspects of each evolve through the years. The only constant is that each needs the other to survive - otherwise, a real party BY and FOR the people could arise. (gasp). "The Soviet Union had a single, entrenched, systemically corrupt political party, which held a monopoly on power. The U.S. has two entrenched, systemically corrupt political parties, whose positions are often indistinguishable, and which together hold a monopoly on power. In either case, there is, or was, a single governing elite, but in the United States it organized itself into opposing teams to make its stranglehold on power seem more sportsmanlike." Dmitry Orlov - Post-Soviet Lessons for a Post-American Century
  3. The rare times anymore I have to do the coat and tie thang, I forego my IWB XD and put the mighty PM9 in the pocket of pants or inside vest pocket in coat (quicker to get out of pants pocket). Sometimes use on long sweaty summer walks instead of the IWB also. Matter of fact, with this thin Kydex holster from StellarRigs, I can carry extra mag in the same rectangular space occupied by gun only: - OS
  4. UPS Store in Halls is good. Electronic and instantly sent. - OS
  5. It's a tired and overdone topic on every gun forum in the world. There are no definitive answers, so it's ludicrous to debate. If any statement is universally valid, it's probably that shot placement is more important than caliber. People drop in their shadows from .22short to the head, people shoot back after losing a leg from .50BMG. Like that. You made a definitive statement about 9mm. At the least, if you want to support/discuss that, start a new thread, is my humble advice. - OS edit: sorry Shima, saw you post after sending this one.
  6. Certainly for a while, HAM could be the only real source of extended regional info. DC power, of course, car batteries mainly. Recharged from solar or from generators and vehicles until gas/diesel is gone. Anyone making bio fuel can keep the diesels running longer. 'Course, unless in a Faraday cage or something, they could all be fried in an EMP to being with. Heck, if you want to think of really long time, folks will be able again make steam engines driving generators. Heck, Jay Leno does now. Really. - OS
  7. Don't even start, please. Any round is capable of a one shot stop. No round guarantees it. - OS
  8. Extract (from breech), or eject (from gun)? - OS
  9. Well, I dunno, but there's probably a reason it's spelled out specifically in the other statute regarding alcohol serving businesses but not in this one. I interpret that a "person's place of business" is not intended to be the same as a "person's place of employment". Hey, Patrick, got your ears on this one? - OS
  10. Oh yeah...I didn't make connection with your other thread. Well, the 13 flush mag is what is standard now. I guess you got this used, as new ones came with 10 and 16 rounder, about a year ago became 13 and 16 rounder standard. 13 rounder still might be better for her needs, I dunno. If weights no prob, get one of each, let her carry the 16 rounder as a spare in there; 30 rounds, go Grannie go! - OS
  11. Yeah, for new guns they're gonna be same or lower than anyone else at the show. I've bought couple from them as have other of The Usual Suspects. - OS
  12. I guess that's as good a terse summation as any. - OS
  13. One reason is TN doesn't HAVE a small claims court like many states. You just have to file in regular court, which I guess would be General Sessions? - OS
  14. 1. Employee exemption only applies to businesses that serve alcohol for onsite consumption, not other business types. 2. And: "... who is the employee or agent of the owner of the premises with responsibility for protecting persons or property..." So, I'd get it in writing that you have been delegated this authority from the owner. - OS

Well, if ya want highfalutin, you can always use one of these: - OS
  16. Has something close to proper wording, or just a big picture? - OS

That's kind of funny, ya know? - OS
  18. Would take a neutron bomb big enough to wipe out all of us at once, yet not damage infrastructure. In that case, what's to worry about, eh? Fascinating series btw, I think I've seen them all. - OS
  19. Hardly ever to never. Unless they're Hi-Points. Or Butler Creek .22 mags. Blow the lint out of them once in a while. - OS
  20. Everyone has their fav lubes. Your Hoppes for cleaning and Rem Oil for lubing will do fine. - OS
  21. 16 rounder will make butt same size as service model, if that matters to you for concealed carry. It sure does to me. - OS
  22. Probably not. Tried smacking the backside of the mag against your hand? Although it doesn't matter much since they don't rattle in the gun. But if you're carrying with the flush 10 rounder, I suggest you buy a flush 13 rounder instead. - OS
  23. Yes, "Q clearance" is the DOE designation for civilians, but it's equivalent to DOD Top Secret. And of course, there is beau coup interaction between DOE nuke weapons facilities and DOD. - OS
  24. Perhaps I have delusional perception of the "what ifs", but I pretty much assume that any gun play I'll see (short of EOTWAWKI) will be 10 feet or less, which I do consider "contact/near contact". Even if they start a rush from the proverbial "21 feet", at best I won't be able to react until they're within that shorter distance. If someone wants to pop me from farther out, I've been targeted for some reason beyond the normal ones of robbery and the like; I admit that I'm not prepared against assassination. - OS edit: looking back, belated apologies for the thread derailment. Out of this one.
  25. Find T&T out of Selmer. $149.99 + tax/TICS for a C9. - OS
