  1. Have read that gun gets magnetized, but no personal experience; maybe urban gun legend. - OS
  2. All rehashed news, regardless of date on story. All links in article are to '09 happenings and statements. - OS
  3. You didn't notice the same push happening last summer, after you came on board here? Bill was defeated, and it had more legs then than now, seemingly. - OS
  4. Unbelievable. I don't think I've ever heard of Kahr CS being that bad about an issue. Btw, you should have mentioned you already owned a PM9 in the original thread. Assumed it was your first Kahr. - OS
  5. MTAS, CTAS, CGT, and some other acronymic factions of UT's Dept of Public Service have always existed primary to influence local politics statewide in ways to enhance the status (follow the money) of UT, and yes, generally with a liberal bent. They are basically lobbyists once removed. - OS
  6. I dunno, G. Gordon Liddy has publicly crowed about his WIFE owning all the guns in the family. - OS
  7. To my knowledge, only a local govt. owned housing project (I think in Cal.) was in a ruling that disallowed it to bar gun ownership for tenants. I know of no instance where privately owned housing has had a "no gun" clause in lease found illegal. This topic comes up once in a while. TN, like most states, holds contract law quite sacrosanct, and a lease between two private parties is about as simple a contract that exists. If you know of any cases where a privately owned lease situation has been found to NOT be legal in disallowing guns, ESPECIALLY in TN, please cite it. - OS
  8. Thanks for the research. We sure have a lot of laws... A dog doesn't have to be dangerous to humanoids to be a prob... Years ago, had a crazy looking 25lb. miniature airedale/collie looking mutt, named her Cleo (for Cleopatra because she was so homely looking). Had raised her in town from a pup, she had survived distemper and getting hit by police car. Anyway, moved out in the sticks, plenty of room, but nearest neighbor had pigs and chickens, and Cleo decided to be a chicken killer. Great guy my neighbor, but he warned something had to be done...tried everything, including tying the latest victim around her neck and locking her in pump house for a week. Didn't work, and one day she just disappeared. It hurt, but I understood, never even mentioned it to him. - OS
  9. Guess it depends on mattress material and gun finish. My 870 has the black whatever it is on there, no indication of wear going on two years. The XD same, 'bout 1.5 years now. Kept an old double barrel and .22 rifle under a mattress for about 10 years back when, didn't seem to hurt them. I leave grip sticking out some, 'bout as quick to grab as any other way I can think of short of wearing it in my sleep. My word. Mine's just a standard double, but pretty heavy even so. Wouldn't think it would matter though, it's just stuck in there enough to hold it, grip sticks out; it's not like I have to LIFT the mattress or anything. Whatever pops one's cork, I reckon. Hell, I slept with revolver under pillow for many years. - OS
  10. Is it really state law or city/county by city/county? I really couldn't find a state leash law, what's the code? - OS
  11. Well, for sure follow up once you get it resolved. Would sure like to know. - OS
  12. I keep a pump shotgun, loaded, cocked w/ one in chamber (cross bolt safety on), under mattress. I also put my XD carry gun under mattress toward head of the bed each night, no holster, one in chamber. There is a snub nosed .38 under my moms couch cushion. Gets sat upon every day by somebody. - OS
  13. Says it won't move past position is shown in pic, can't get to the witness marks alignment. - OS
  14. On what grounds? It's not illegal by statute. The paper pays a fee to access the database, btw. I guess you could too. - OS
  15. Again, try resetting guide rod/spring again, I think it's not in correct slightly off center position. And although it shouldn't cause that, make sure closed end of spring goes onto rod. - OS
  16. It has long been claimed that all football and basketball salaries (don't know about other "lesser" sports) are paid for from athletic dept. funds, not the public coffer. But it was shown at least in the past that their bennies (retirement, group insurance, whatever) come out of the same pool as other university employees. Don't know about the AD and his staff, though. - OS
  17. All true, and I agree, but it's just that I consider TN HCP as part of my "gun rights". - OS
  18. Slide only goes back a little way to witness mark to start pin. Then only goes back somewhat farther for pin to turn and lock in. It doesn't go all the way back for either operation. Also, note that spring is not perfectly centered to barrel, can cause binding if it is. Because of offset feed ramp. - OS
  19. DOH² !! I'm getting on up there, ya know. I do have a PM9, dunno why I was thinking XD. Anyway, the only thing I know that will lock one up on reassembly is getting the slide stop pin in ahead of the hole through barrel where it's supposed to go. Another long shot possibility is that they've put the wrong spring assembly in. This happened to The Bronker on a PM9, but can't tell from your description just what's going on. - OS
  20. DOH!
  21. Carrying under the influence and carrying in place that serves alcohol for on site consumption are both Class A misdemeanors. You lose your HCP for any Class A misdemeanor conviction for duration of sentence; probation is part of a sentence. Then you have to apply to have it reinstated, it's not automatic. I imagine this might put you in jeopardy of the "danger to public" clause also. - OS
  22. Just one of those True Facts That Everybody Knows. I still want to see 10mm4me's 11 shot 870 shottie. - OS
  23. "39-17-1309. Carrying weapons on school property. — © (1) ... It is not an offense under this subsection © for a nonstudent adult to possess a firearm, if the firearm is contained within a private vehicle operated by the adult and is not handled by the adult, or by any other person acting with the expressed or implied consent of the adult, while the vehicle is on school property." - OS
  24. Linoleum beware! - OS
  25. In the world? In the US? There's some sort of central database on that you can cite? - OS
