.... Never mind, too much of a rant.

So, can I go health insurance shopping Monday? I DO need a break. Let's get on with this infrastructure thing, too - hell, South Korea has 10 times the broadband speed, cable tv, and phone, all for $50 USD. And it's available in every rice paddy. And where's the no income tax on seniors up to $50K? I definitely want in on that. And "immigration" reform. Let's get all the illegals out so there are more jobs for citizens! Oops, forgot, the "reform" is to make THEM all citizens, so jobs stay scarce and wages stay lower, and to get their taxes and votes. - OS

You may be right - I don't know much. It might be classed as a pistol, and the barrel was added, even if it's 16". There were six shooters that had buttstock add ons, perfectly legal when they were made, but not now. - OS

HB3125/SB3012 new restaurant carry bill by Todd/Jackson
Oh Shoot replied to Fallguy's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, assuming TNDOS is notified by the court, I guess, or until another background check at renewal time. Well, it's been that way all along, as far as carrying in posted biz (..1359), but not for most of the other no no's (park carry, carrying in booze serving restaurant while that was illegal, carrying while under the influence, or in court, or even in school), and still isn't. Although the school thing would be a felony, so that would zap it. - OS -
Welcome aboard, and let's see a pic of that pimp gun! - OS

OIC. I don't know anything about their models, I assumed it was just a rifle from the git go, looks like could be 16" barrel. - OS
-
Seller has modified ad to read: "for sale or trade email or call with trade offers the stock can only be used with a super16 barrel or longer atf rules must use pistol grip with this barrel only on gun to show as a rifle with a 16 or longer barrel" That likely is a 16" barrel on there, especially if flash hider is on permanently. Single shot, barrel starts all the way back at the hammer face. - OS

'Slaughter Solution' to Circumvent the Constitution
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You'll note I mentioned the Fair Tax. It will, however, never happen, short of Constitutional Convention or successful armed rebellion. If the Republicans want to win next couple of election cycles, they should campaign on Fair Tax. Of course, it wouldn't get implemented even with a GOP prez and majority in House and Senate, but it will get a bunch of them elected. - OS -
Yep, totally agree. - OS

Yes. 39-17-1352. Suspension or revocation of license. (a) The department shall suspend or revoke a handgun permit upon a showing by its records or other sufficient evidence that the permit holder: (6) Has violated any other provision of §§ 39-17-1351 — 39-17-1360; Folks here are overlooking that. The fine is not the worst part. - OS -

Shooters Depot - Shallowford Rd. Chattanooga

Outstanding. I get down there for a week every other month, I'll be looking forward to stopping in. - OS -
That probably gets fixed in a hurry with a phone call complaint, especially to Ground. - OS

And that's only for right handers. - OS

The legal answer is that you can't currently carry in a restaurant that sells beer. It seems conceded that a restaurant inside a larger enterprise doesn't mean you can't carry elsewhere in the business. Think hotel with restaurant/bar, or an enclosed mall that has restaurants that sell booze. This is not of course legal advice, however. - OS

Which is max of a $2500 and/or time. So if you don't have a permit and get caught past a sign, it's LESS than if there's no sign? See what I mean about lack of consistency in these things? - OS -
'Slaughter Solution' to Circumvent the Constitution
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I can see absolutely no combination of circumstances that could possibly stop the decline in overall quality of life in the US in the short term (10 years or less). Only hope even in a longer term are in drastic and sweeping changes, only possible via a Constitutional Convention, and even that would necessarily be followed by many tough years. These changes would be in the nature of: - Only state representatives being electable. The senate and the president would be selected by these representatives. Campaign funding would be limited to individual donations only. The concept and control of political "parties" would disappear as we know them today. - Strict term limits for all federally representative offices AND all federal judges; the career politician would become unknown. - Abolish lobbyists, another profession that would disappear - All social services and public works to be handled by the individual states, and whatever working alliances among them they so deem. - All taxation to be on the consumption level only ("Fair Tax"), to be divvied to the national level only in amounts deemed necessary by the states, and management OF that federal allotment by the states, not by federal decision; the largest part of the federal budget would be for military defense. - Most current federal programs would be taken over by state and or private cooperatives, such as Social Security (becomes individual investment accounts), the Post Office, etc. - A more isolationist international policy and certainly, no offensive military actions anywhere in the world unless war is declared, and that means WAR. - etc, etc., just some examples off top of my head. But none of that happen. Hell, less than 57% of eligible voters actually voted in 2008, and that was the highest since 1968. Highly visible groups like the Tea Parties notwithstanding, not enough of the population really cares about freedom as much as comfort and security (however tenuous that may be in reality). And by the time enough of them become hungry enough to act, it won't be manifest in the structured and constructive way that a Constitutional Convention would demand. I assume that I won't live long enough to see America regain even a fraction of its previous prosperity, so yeah, if you want to call that apathy, I'm guilty. I see it more as realism, though - there are now supply/demand/resource ratios in place that I believe are insurmountable until population levels are significantly reduced, worldwide and by necessary extension, here. Not to mention that the US no longer has enough of a positive national ethos conducive to personal sacrifice and work ethic for the betterment of both the individual and hence the overall commonweal. - OS -
What on earth does that mean? What holster ya get, BaseVol? For what gun? - OS

Sign says: "...A VIOLATION IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE PUNISHABLE BY A FINE OF $500 AND POSSIBLE IMPRISONMENT." But statute then says: "(2) Possession of a weapon on posted property in violation of this section is a Class B misdemeanor punishable by fine only of five hundred dollars ($500)." This is final version? If so, I'm certainly glad to see there is inconsistent language as always. - OS -

Mayor dispels rumor about Belle Meade gun ban
Oh Shoot replied to TNTitan's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, it does purport to ban ALL edged weapons of any length. And that can't be enforceable under TCA preemption, surely. - OS -
It's all good. It made me reacquaint myself with some AT stuff, and even bring back some old memories. - OS

Here's my 4" XD service in DualCarry and BodyGuard holsters that were made for the SC 3". They go down through them pretty easily and come out with just a little more pull, not much. As long as you were expecting it on draw, comes out just as quickly. My poor Dual Carry I really abused; I put MoleSkin over entire back of it and over course of long hot summer with many long sweaty walks, I let too much moisture stick around on it. I used brown Kiwi on it, but the cosmetic damage was done. But it still works just fine, still supple and everything. - OS

Absolutely. All the drivers for UPS and FedEx earn every penny. The pressure to perform is incredible, and stop/package ratios are micro-managed via 'puter data to constantly increasing service standards. It's amazing in retrospect to me any of us ever made it through a month without an accident of some kind. FedEx Express drivers are now around $9/hr less than UPS drivers on top out pay. And FX drivers seldom top out anymore, either. UPS bennies are far and away better also. It's even worse on FedEx Ground/Home Delivery drivers, since they are only paid for completed stops. Really hurts when you spend half an hour and 4 bucks worth of diesel to grind your way to a mountaintop and don't even get your $3 because you couldn't leave a package, or go to make a pickup and the small biz decided to close early, not to mention the constant wear and tear on (your) truck whether you made a buck or not. 1/3 of my route area lost money most every (long) day. etc, etc. - OS

Federal judges generally aren't swayed. It could conceivably get heard on that level, re civil rights/due process. - OS
