  1. Mike, ANY Class A 'meanor conviction, you lose your HCP for duration of the sentence, and have to reapply to get it back. Probation period is part of sentence, too. - OS
  2. I'll take ghosts over talking snakes and donkeys. - OS
  3. Pretty well sums it up, thanks. I had already stated that carry without a permit in public is Class A 'meanor, and in another post, could be any of 3 levels of misdemeanor, without a link to the statute, suggesting he read it. Derek comes back with, so it's Class C, right? So, I re-suggested he read the statute, with link to it. I don't know how to be any more forthcoming with information to answer his question. But since he found either a misstated or misinterpreted comment from a rep, and now Google so helpful, don't know why he's asking here in the first place. Another good deed that did not go unpunished, thanks for the reminder, Derek. apologies for the off-topic aside in general, OS
  4. I dunno about that. Eat bologna, vienna sausage, some wieners, slim jims and the like? I grew up on souse meat sandwiches, which certainly has all the eyeballs and arseholes, with most of the oink thrown in there too. - OS
  5. I actually paid a pretty high price for them in a fancy "game" type restaurant in Atlanta many years ago, was actually the first ones I ever ate. Not sure how I avoided them before that, since I've eaten such other bizarre stuff, and certainly every OTHER part of the pig, from snout to intestine. Your, and others', UGH comments make me wonder just how many folks would starve rather than eat something they've been culturally conditioned not to if we do have a meltdown. Btw, I ate about half a chihuahua once upon a time in 1966, ironically, on a bus while traveling through the state of Chihuahua. So if push comes to shove, even though I'm a dog lover, I won't go completely hungry till the last of the strays are gone. Best use of that particular yapper breed I know of, btw. - OS
  6. Who's to say any sentient life form out there IS "remaining silent"? Fine tuning onto the, for all practical purposes, infinite, narrow band possible sources of artificially generated electromagnetic impulses may take many millennia to get a hit. Or we may simply not have the listening power to perceive it, unless it's a specifically highly magnified and focused signal that's specifically MEANT for us to receive. There is much debate as to just how effective our own SETI listening post really is. We assume that some alien civilizations would have sophisticated enough receivers (and the desire to use them) to separate a 60 year old I Love Lucy episode from the general background noise of the cosmos. But it might not be so and I'm not real sure we can either. Not to mention that a race that generated the signal in the first place may not even be there anymore by the time we hear it. Same as far as our outgoing signals, which we've been unintentionally sending for over 100 years. The nearest star is 4 light years away, which would be a rather slow conversation even if contact were made in even such a nearby area. Even though logic would suggest that we are NOT alone in the universe, it is of course possible that we ARE. Yep, looks like a big waste of space all right, but if a Big Guy indeed cranked up the whole shebang, it's apparent he has a pretty twisted sense of humor in general, so you can't put that past him. There are some rather convincing biological theories, btw, that for reasons that are over my head, assert that anything BUT carbon based life is highly improbable, even given the inconceivable vastness of the sampling area. Even the generalized physical form of homo sapiens could well turn out to be the optimal evolutionary design, modified by different gravities, light spectrum, chemical consumption/reaction for metabolism, etc. - OS
  7. I didn't know scrambled eggs were usually yellowish instead of grayish until I was about 9, 'cause the only ones I ever ate were in my grandma's kitchen, and she always mixed pig brains in with them. - OS
  8. In house Ways and Means committee only, could die there (Naifeh et. al.). Dunno. - OS
  9. Yep, it's the logical way to bet. And certainly, any other intelligent life would almost certainly be an improvement over the current state of development of homo sapiens here on the third rock. - OS
  10. Again, I suggest you READ the statute. It can be A, B, or C, depending on circumstances. 39-17-1307 http://michie.com/tennessee - OS
  11. Which is why I put it in quotes, used for brevity. However, AFAIK and I could certainly be wrong, but, the HB3125 amendment under consideration in legislature does not say anything about the over 21 requirement you mention, so presumably, you CAN carry in a "bar". Otherwise, we have the same problem under which the previous statute was judged to be unconstitutionally vague. - OS
  12. You could just read the statute, and suggest to your rep that he do the same, as his info is flawed. Or perhaps he is talking about the current or proposed "carry in bars" amendment for carrying in a posted establishment, and only applies to HCP holders. Subject under discussion is about carrying without a permit -- illegal carrying or possession of a weapon can be a class A, B, or C misdemeanor, which carry different levels of fine and/or jail time. It's never a felony, even with repeat convictions. - OS
  13. Well, its pretty "pedestrian" compared to many six shooters, it's just that the rest of my handguns are just plain jane functional, not really purdy. Actually, I guess my Ruger SP101 five shooter is about as attractive, now that I think of it. - OS
  14. Our galaxy is but a local neighborhood compared to the vastness of just the currently observable universe. - OS
  15. Class A 'meaner in public, which is almost everywhere you're likely to be caught except maybe in your car. - OS
  16. The penalty for a 2.5" blade knife is same for a gun. - OS
  17. Its classic lines, traditional styling, and rich American heritage make this handgun an elegant example of functional beauty: Oops, meant this one: - OS
  18. Doh, correct. Somehow mentally put it in Sweden's area from time to time, always have for some reason. Mea culpa. Health system info basically correct though. I thought it interesting that a country that practically requires you own a gun also requires you to have health insurance. So we've got half of that going for us. - OS
  19. Basic insurance is not an option. It's compulsory. Mandatory. Required. For anyone in residence within 3 months. It's offered by private insurance companies, whose rates may vary, but the plans are identical in coverage. Cannot be denied coverage at same rate as anyone else for same age group, regardless of health. If it costs over 8% of income, the gov pays the rest. Additional coverage can be purchased with same type of risk based differences in premiums as here. Must work pretty well, as Switzerland is considered a tax haven compared to rest of Scandinavia, if not all of Europe. - OS
  20. Health insurance is compulsory there. - OS
  21. Must have been another of those bloodthirsty blue racers that so often chase folks to their death. - OS
  22. Me too. Most people who have killed a snake or five didn't kill a poisonous one. - OS
  23. Bushnell Rimfire scopes are nice for the bucks. I have two of the 3-9x32 models, even come with tipoff rings, if that's what that pellet rifle has a mount for. Under $40 including shipping. Cheaper than that, I don't know what holds up for the bucks. - OS
  24. Yep, thought comment was a bit over the top myself, especially from a claimed LEO. - OS
  25. Or even human. Baaaaaaaaa. Btw, I don't know factoids on the rape, but I'm a little surprised any military gal couldn't disuade just one guy, assuming he was only armed with a boner. - OS
