Tennessee Constitutional Militia | 16th. Volunteer Field Force 3rd. Brigade M.E.T. ?? Pretty secretive. So secret, that there's an application on there and no directions of where to send it. Matter of fact, no contact info whatsoever except for a "guest book" page. Not even an email link. - OS

I'd have definitely bought one instead of Hi-Point carbine if they were still making it. (though I have no complaints re the HP, cept for the mags). - OS

I know, I couldn't either until I retired. My biorhythm gravitates toward Eastern Vampire Time now. - OS

2009: Nearly half of US households escape fed income tax
Oh Shoot replied to G27's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Let's not forget many of us pay TN state income tax too, in this "no income tax" state, on interest, dividends, etc. I overpaid federal taxes on quarterlies last year, but had to write the state a check for $450. - OS -
Well, they used to. - OS

"To measure overall length do so along, the distance between the extreme ends of the weapon measured along a line parallel to the center line of the bore." 27 CFR sec. 179.11. Clarification regarding using folding stock extended as the overall length of the measurement is apparently in an additional published decision from ATF. Somewhere. It's quoted by lots of FFLs to be almost verbatim to this summation found on Wiki: "Overall length is measured between the extreme ends of the gun, along a centerline which passes through the middle of the barrel. For rifles fitted with folding or telescoping stocks (such as U.S. Carbine M1A1), US Federal guidelines state that measurement is made with the stock unfolded as intended for use as a rifle; exception is made for rifles with easily detachable shoulder stocks, which shall be measured with shoulder stock detached. Some states such as California measure overall length with the stock folded. Barrel length is measured from the end of the muzzle to the front of the breechface, typically by inserting a measuring rod into the barrel. Barrel length may partially comprise a permanently-attached muzzle accessory (such as a compensator or flash suppressor)." - OS

GB's research is always spot-on, AFAIK. Like many, I'd prefer a little lower level of theatrics and histrionics, but then again, that's his drawing card, so can't knock it. He gets a LOL from me now and then, something I can't say I get from most any other political commentator 'cept Dennis Miller. - OS

I never got one. - OS -
Echo? - OS

Well, that's sort of the whole gun folding in half, dunno if that's really same thing, since gun is inoperable in that position. But the Kel-Tec SU 16D is only 20" folded and is operable folded: A Ruger 10/22 with 16" barrel in a Butler Creek folder would also be illegal, as mine with 18" barrel is just about exactly 26" folded. I guess lots of guns would be illegal if measured with stock folded. - OS

Wouldn't most everyone set it off, what with keys and (many illegal) pocketknives, and whatnot? - OS

Has been debated much. Never heard of it being tested in court. Guess it never has, or would now be part of gun law history and widely known. Note that carrying a 2.5" knife is treated the same as carrying a firearm, and of course your HCP does not give you a "knife exemption" of any kind. - OS

18 U.S.C. § 930 : US Code - Section 930: Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities (a) Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than a Federal court facility), or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both. Not sure what you meant? Pretty sure that federal law measures overall length with stock extended. It can be shorter than 26" with stock folded. There is exception if stock is of a "quick" release type, in which case weapon is measured without the stock. Some state laws measure with stock folded, though, but not TN. If this is wrong, I'm sure a dealer here will correct it. - OS

Both rifle and shotguns must be 26" overall. Rifle barrel 16", shotgun barrel 18" minimum. Gun is measured with stock extended, ie. NOT folded. - OS

Yeah, just pointing out irony where I find it. The Bible has more supernatural magic in it than Harry Potter books. Don't see why ghosts should be excluded. - Oh "happy to irritate atheists, too" Shoot

They also just are paying off on a class action suit for that, too. Just got a notice the other day, if I wanted to jump through whatever hoops, could get $20 or something. - OS

Fair Tax. It's so simple, so effective, so well ... fair. But it takes away gummit control over the individual, and allows pols to tweak code for votes, so it will never happen. - OS -
Marlin will move from their present digs in CT sometime in the next year, I forget the projected date. Moving their production to be incorporated into the Remington facility in Ilion, NY.' Far from a rumor, they've issued official press releases some time ago. - OS
