  1.   Kind of hard to open carry in the winter, unless you want to strap a heater across your chest or something.   - OS
  2.   TN will have to change the law to forbid it, can't be done with mere edict from AG, TNDOS, or even Governor.   - OS
  3.   Just "Cabellas" that I see. Not so bad.   - OS
  4.   Yep. Same voodoo Bos heat treatment on the HC 420, great lockup, etc. Fit and finish seem pretty much same as always. Really among the best buys in knifedom to this day.   - OS
  5.   Yeah, would seem he would have to have some sort of disqualifying prior conviction.   But odd they wouldn't tack on simple illegal possession for the revolver he already had if that's the case.     Doesn't matter, as he wasn't charged with illegal possession or carrying.   If he had a disqualifying previous conviction for ownership, it would be illegal possession for the one he had in the car, and even if not, would be illegal carrying as soon as he pulled it out of the car without a permit. But he wasn't charged for either circumstance.   - OS
  6. Do these type systems have to be controlled by a computer to set schedule, or is the control brain in the surveillance system somewhere?   Also, I guess you can set it to automatically record to a hidden WiFi hard drive? Even off site to a broad band connected one?   Meaning, you'd want a record somewhere not on the visible system or controlling computer, which would likely be trashed or stolen?   - OS
  7. "Miss Universe judge and celebrity blogger Perez Hilton told those watching the international contest at home Sunday that “thankfully Donald Trump no longer owns this pageant.” And the crowd cheered loudly."
  8. Former Miss Universe Paulina Vega, center, removes the crown from Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, left, before giving it to Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, right, at the Miss Universe pageant on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, in Las Vegas. Gutierrez was incorrectly named the winner before Wurtzbach was given the Miss Universe crown.
  9.   I enjoyed the first three, lost interest during the second three, over it a long time now. I'll catch it on the small screen one of these days.   - OS
  10. The latest: http://wate.com/2015/12/18/shooting-under-investigation-at-west-knoxville-sporting-goods-store/ Perp had long record and outstanding warrants: - OS
  11. Latest: http://wate.com/2015/12/18/shooting-under-investigation-at-west-knoxville-sporting-goods-store/ Perp had long record, outstanding warrants: - OS edit: oops, forgot there was earlier longer thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/93121-shots-fired-at-academy-on-kingston-pike-cedar-bluff/
  12.   Well, there aren't very many things the dealer has to put on the 4473, and all pretty simple, so if he was leaving any of them out, I could see why they'd get upset with an audit. Perhaps it was his bound book he wasn't completing correctly.     NICS only gets the type of firearm (long gun/hand gun/other firearm), not the rest of the firearm detail. A POC (primary point of contact) state like TN does not have to collect the additional firearm data either, but TICS demands that info by state law, so if you want to worry about a database with that info, worry about the state of TN.   - OS
  13. I got to shoot a Ruger BlackHawk in 10mm. That was pretty cool.   - OS
  14.   Better than any walk in bank in America, I'd say. They're mostly less that .1% these days.   You do still need some type of local checking or savings account to move money back and forth though.   - OS
  15.   GE Capital Bank. Several online ones offer around that.   https://www.gecapitalbank.com/en.html   - OS
  16.   Gotta park bucks somewhere. Just like I'm getting a whopping 1.05% on money stashed in a savings account, 'cause I ain't risking anything in this phony market any more.   - OS
  17.   Ultimately, that's why I have more than just a few.  Just like the feel and look of them, the engineering, the power, the well ... seriousness of them. Throw in consideration of periodic firearm related market panics and Crash prep, and there ya go.   And I can at least use them with at least the equivalent proficiency of golfing in the high 70's from the back tees, which I can't do with the sticks any more. ;)   - OS
  18.   It's in big flux due to Peruta vs San Diego. Sort of in limbo waiting on an 11 judge consensus of the 9th Court, and/or whether it will make it to SCOTUS after they rule either way I guess.   But it has already had the effect that various counties have been de facto issuing permits on a "shall" issue basis rather than the uber restrictive "may" issue of the past, adhering to the last decision that "good cause" for issue is satisfied by constitutional right to self defense.   - OS
  19.   IL is becoming more armed by the day. Over 100K permits issued as of 6 months ago, dunno how may by now. Some parts of Kali have freed up too, sounds like you wouldn't want to try this sort of thing in Sacramento area for example.   - OS
  20. Well, they're not actually making that config in .22, right? Even rumored that they're going to? - OS
  21.   Just to contribute, I've read Insanely Great: The Life and Times of Macintosh, the Computer That Changed Everything and Hackers: Heroes of the Computer Revolution.   :)   - OS
  22.   You couldn't 4.5 years ago when he wrote that. :)   - OS
  23.   Best price is generally 25-30% less than MSRP on Ruger stuff. Though of course as long as demand significantly exceeds supply, you won't see them that cheap at local shops or maybe even anywhere for awhile on really hot items.   - OS
  24.   Wow, that's frigging amazing timing  as far as this thread is concerned!   - OS
  25.   Also meant to say, it's not unlawful to be engaged in the business of making holsters without a FFL, so there's only the issue of any firearm storage doing it, but again it seems to me only FFL holders have to abide by the firearm storage rules that go along with that. Of course, getting any shipped to you without an FFL is problematic, actually not possible without violating UPS/FedEx TOS or of course federal law via USPS.   - OS
