  1. Sure you're not 25 instead of 52? - OS
  2. Reread my post. Only mentioned in weapons on school property statute, where all knives are banned anyway. There is NO knife forbidden for general carry in TN except those over 4" blade and any switchblade. - OS
  3. Double edged knives are perfectly legal to carry in TN, long as they are 4" blade or less. "daggers" and "dirks" are specifically banned from school property only (but so is every other kind of knife). - OS
  4. With HSA, do you pay insurance rate or "off the street" rate for out of pocket expenditures? - OS
  5. Caught BP CEO on Greta last night....transcript at: BP CEO Reveals Plan B and Beyond for Gulf Oil Spill Disaster - Greta Van Susteren | On The Record With Greta - FOXNews.com I really think very few are foreseeing just what a disaster this really may be. It's obvious that nobody knows just how much oil is really coming out of this thing, and the 200,000/day or so gallons may be way way way underestimated. Some think it may have already equaled the 10 million of the Exxon Valdez. There are likely tens of millions of BARRELS in this deposit. Just the lowest likely amount, 10 million barrels, is 42 times more than the Prince William Sound dump. Could be 3, 4, 5 times that amount, who knows? Besides just killing the gulf as we know it, this thing could wind up tipping the economy into the meltdown that most probably consider tin foil territory. Sigh. - OS
  6. Far as I know, flag desecration is still punishable under US Code. It's just not enforced. At least you never hear of it being enforced. - OS
  7. Ditto² I'd prefer that decisions are not influenced by mythological and magical thinking, unless Harry Potter is appointed. - OS
  8. Bada bing BAM! - OS
  9. Exception here. Single only child geezer, no kids, so no relatives to leave them to. Sold couple of granddad's old shotties, turned the money into a contemporary gun I can use. - OS
  10. Bada BING! - OS
  11. Was just over at Academy in 'Nooga ... they had the folder Profile for 19.99. Had Buck 110's for 26 something. - OS
  12. Let he who is without sin cast the first SUV. - OS
  13. It comes with a nylon belt carrier. I don't use belt clip on folding knifes (or belt holsters), have taken them off the Cold Steel's I've carried. Always carry in left rear pocket; knives fit perfectly against wallet and out side edge of pocket. Been carrying the Gerber for a couple months now, put my Cold Steel Voyager aside for it. - OS
  14. Be sure and ask Haslam about the Bloomberg Coaliton he was part of, and exactly why he left it eventually. A Tea Party gathering will have to be quite the masquerade for Billy Boy. - OS
  15. We've finally found something in Dixie that duct tape won't patch. - OS
  16. Maybe, but the downside is this just keeps electing Republicans. The GOP will never again be anywhere as conservative as the Reagan years, and even that should have only been a first stepping stone to becoming the Libertarian ideal that the Tea Party seeks. - OS
  17. Partial serrations might have some degree of nasty advantage for self defense use (debatable), but it may also lose that to greater liklihood of getting snagged, or at least slowing the effort, in fabric. All in all, for general daily use and sd, I've become believer in sharp plain blade, too. - OS
  18. I've got the fixed AND the folding Gerber Profile. Both very serviceable knives. I love the grips, both for the suface texture and the shape. The fixed blade is 4" and a little wider than the 3.5" folder, but both are same thickness. Fixed model has nylon sheath, but it's very serviceable, holds well with no rattle. The folder has a very simple lockup mechanism but is really tight both vertical and horizontal, opens quickly with a nice snick, too. They're both at Gander Mtn for about 5 bucks more than online. - OS
  19. Well, maybe they can plug it with good ole garbage. I hope they don't blow off the whole well head. That has been a fear since they first put the submersibles down there to futz with things. Next step to stop oil: Throw garbage at it - CNN.com - OS
  20. I don't know...I'm on dialup for another couple days, can't do much real research surfing... I can't think of hardly anything that dumped in quantitites of 100,000 tons or more that couldn't have anything but a detrimental effect. How much, who knows? Hell, even that much more fresh or salt water in some brackish environments would change the ecosystem. I'd posit that as time goes by, we'll find that many human ailments that seem to have become more prevelent in the population will be undeniably linked to various chemical exposures in our water and food. Once we can quickly see changes in genes and coordinate exact causal effects accurately, will likely be a lot of Doh's there, just as obvious as cigarette smoking to disease, obesity/empty carbs/sugar to diabetes, etc. - OS
  21. Earlier in thread mentioned that this cure might be as bad as the disease. Found this on another site, I guess it's accurate (no source given): "The following is taken from the Material Safety Data Sheet of the dispersant being employed; COREXIT® EC9527A **EMERGENCY OVERVIEW** WARNING Eye and skin irritant. Repeated or excessive exposure to butoxyethanol may cause injury to red blood cells (hemolysis), kidney or the liver. Harmful by inhalation, in contact with skin and if swallowed. Do not get in eyes, on skin, on clothing. Do not take internally. Use with adequate ventilation. Wear suitable protective clothing. Keep container tightly closed. Flush affected area with water. Keep away from heat. Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. May evolve oxides of carbon (COx) under fire conditions. PRIMARY ROUTES OF EXPOSURE : Eye, Skin" Fortunately, we've only dumped about a hundred thousand TONS of the stuff so far. - OS
  22. I've even asked The Big Guy to help you out. - OS
  23. That's just not totally true. There are a couple of big vendors there that will be the same or cheaper on certain new guns than anyone in the area, unless it's one carried at WalMart. T&T out of Selmer, for example -- always look there for a new gun to compare with local. Last show, I bought a new XD 9 tactical new for $485 plus tax/tics from a small seller. Not a steal, but still a few bucks under anyone's best price in Knoxville, where I've never seen any new XD for under 499.99, and they're usually more like $520 and up. Always take cash, and ask for vendor's best cash price. That will generally get you at least 5% off as they pay at least that in cc fee on the transaction. - OS
  24. This ass reduction therapy is based on good medical advice, I trust? - OS
