150 Somalian Muslim Workers Fired From Colorado Meat Packing Plant
Oh Shoot replied to waynesan's topic in General Chat
Indeed, the feds initiated the Muslim trucker suit, specifically the EEOC, which also represented them in court. - OS -
I ate black-eyed peas with pig meat and turnip greens and cornbread, so I got that going fer me. - OS

Any muzzle device that the bullet travels through becomes part of the barrel if properly "permanently" attached, and hence also part of legal OAL. - OS

150 Somalian Muslim Workers Fired From Colorado Meat Packing Plant

Hell, the Muzzies might prevail in a lawsuit -- remember the recent settlement for the Muslim truck drivers who refused to deliver beer? - OS -
Well, can't think of an obvious "progressive problem" cause right off -- but starting at the basics, if bolt isn't locking back, it's almost certainly due to inadequate gassing for whichever reason, and of course a heavier buffer would be the last thing that could help. Is gas key still good and tight? - OS edit: you mentioned replacing block? Is it moving around or something? What kind of block, pinned A2 or set screw/bolt on? Did this rifle run fine previously with this or another BCG?
-
One of the three gas rings definitely has a section just gone. Obviously rings should last a lot longer, but stuff happens, bad batch or whatever. But it should run fine with two rings, most of the time even with one, so that may not be the root of your prob. - OS

VIS Model 35 failure-to-extract: ideas?
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Dunno. If it does, take spring/follower out of mag and do it. - OS -
VIS Model 35 failure-to-extract: ideas?
Oh Shoot replied to GKar's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Hmm, thanks. Well, though not generally recommended to do too often, can always just drop a single round in chamber with no mag, drop slide, and see if that is indeed the prob. (I assume there's no mag interlock safety in that heater?) - OS -

What could a magazine have to do with a spent casing being extracted from the chamber? - OS -
New 2016 Tennessee Laws That Go In Effect 1/1/2016
Oh Shoot replied to runco's topic in General Chat
That won't help if other states quit recognizing it. That's the main danger I see. I'm a bit surprised the lifetime thing hasn't arisen yet in that regard -- perhaps TN still does a 5 year background check with them? - OS -
New 2016 Tennessee Laws That Go In Effect 1/1/2016
Oh Shoot replied to runco's topic in General Chat
No, not so far. I've ranted about this for some time. All the effort over last 2 years on getting the HCP to hit the 5 year thang has been wasted, and it's still being done. If TN extends does HCP to 8 years, likely to lose reciprocity from various states, too, unless they still run recertification background checks at 5. And not that it's likely to happen, but for permit to stand in lieu of background check for 4473, recertification background checks can be no less than 5 year. Wait and see if the legislature doesn't royally screw up the HCP one way or the other much worse before long. - OS -

The vaccine can be taken even after you've had them to maybe beat the odds on getting them again. The possible PHN (post-herpetic neuralgia) from shingles is the real kicker, can last for years. - OS
-
Best cure is not to get it, with the vaccine, at least if you're 50. I guess if you get them younger, would be good to take it afterward (which you can). 'Course it only hedges your bet by about half, but those odds seem well worth it to me. Also reduces chance of the related possible long term resultant nerve pain by closer to 70% and that's even more important. - OS

Well, hope it helps. I just looked at it on Magpul site and that's sort of confusing still to me. Meaning, I don't see how it could mount to both an A1 and an A2 length tube and still come flush with lower, since there's quite a diff in length, but I guess it has some sort of internal thingie (tech term) that compensates for that somehow. Or something. - OS
-
Perhaps you just have terminology mixed up? An AR buffer tube is more properly called the receiver extension. Unless you are just referring to the small spacer that converts from A1 to A2 stock length on a rifle receiver extension (buffer tube). If spacer is indeed actually what you mean, I don't know about that Magpul stock, probably is A2 spec, so would need the spacer if so. Also, some rifle tubes come already in A2 length -- the only one I ever bought (not too long ago) was A1 with included spacer for A2 which has been sort of standard through the years ever since they changed milspec for the standard rifle stocks. No endplate with rifle receiver extension, the stock holds in the takedown pin spring and detente. As a matter of fact, if you somehow tried to use one, the tube wouldn't reach the buffer retaining pin to hold it in place, as its thread length is designed to screw in flush and that's that. - OS

And further: "The term “with the principal objective of livelihood and profit” means that the intent underlying the sale or disposition of firearms is predominantly one of obtaining livelihood and pecuniary gain, as opposed to other intents, such as improving or liquidating a personal firearms collection: Provided, That proof of profit shall not be required as to a person who engages in the regular and repetitive purchase and disposition of firearms for criminal purposes or terrorism." - OS

VA GOP Stage Legislators prepare to strike back...
Oh Shoot replied to leroy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Just more horse pucky out of his mouth. He's been receiving Secret Service protection since Nov. 11th, and his code name is apparently Mogul. No more limos either, but a blacked out SUV. - OS -
Being "engaged in the business" is defined by 18 USC 921. I fail to see how an EO can add to federal code without an amendment of the statute itself by the Congress. - OS
-
Well, Glock doesn't share the wealth at all. ;) - OS
-
Nothing illegal about it federally. Unless you're maybe repackaging the quantities, don't even need to purchase new TN tax stamps either, and not sure you have to even then. - OS
-
$10 actually. Had them in mind when I made the post above. - OS
-
The $10 TICS fee doesn't count, as it's paid either way, assuming it's received in TN. - OS
