  1. You may have to take up the hobby of falconry. - OS
  2. Yeah, Chicago is probably best place in US to sell hot handguns. I'll bet there are more illegal ones sold there than all the legal ones in the whole rest of Illinois. - OS
  3. Assuming you have power (or a coleman stove or similar), and if there are really no chemical surface contaminants in there, just filter big stuff out of it with most anything, like a shirt even, and boil it. It only has to get to boil for 30 seconds or so, not the 3-5 min some say. - OS
  4. If you have a pre printed label, I assure you they UPS store won't say a word, just drop it off. - OS
  5. Doesn't kill them. They leave the squirrel skin at certain stage, drop to the soil and complete their cycle into becoming flies. - OS
  6. No, since THEY are an FFL. Individuals can send handguns and long guns to FFL. Can't send handgun through USPS, though as an individual. Will they not send you a UPS or FedEx shipping label so you can just box it up and drop it off? - OS
  7. Hmmm, maybe it was early fall I used to see them all the time. I haven't hunted since I was about 25, so I disremember. - OS
  8. Ah, you need the LM4 Simmerling The legendary Simmerling is one of the smallest .45 ACP's ever made. This incredible vest pocket pistol has a 5-shot capacity, and the first round is carried in the chamber ready for instant use just like a revolver or a larger frame .45 Auto. The LM4 weighs in at just 24 oz., and is only 5.2 x 3.7 inches in size with a thickness of 1 inch. The LM4 will be produced in limited quantities. - OS
  9. So, they say they have the small pipe in one of the leaks, now "siphoning" (don't say "pumping") some of the oil up into ship. How much and how much will it help? Who knows. There is outcry for an hour's worth of footage of main leak just to see. More nastiness reported re BP's treatment of them after evacuation. Also seems to be beau coup favoritism regarding which (former) fishermen get to work on cleanup for bucks, etc. Kevin Costner seems to have a solution, assuming they can quickly manufacture about a billion of the oil/water separation units and import some Chinese to crank them. So far, I remain quite pessimistic about the whole thing. - OS
  10. All TN reps/senators are part time. The job is classified as such. I believe the current salary is $16,500 / year or thereabouts. The speaker of senate and house get triple that, though. They also get expense allowance and office allowance. And of course, all they can steal. Actually, like all legislators, the big bucks are to made simply by knowing WHAT is going to happen WHEN before you and I do. Summary from Wiki: "Part-time legislature To keep the legislature a part-time body, it is limited to ninety "legislative days" per two-year term, plus up to fifteen days for organizational purposes at the start of each term. A legislative day is considered any day that the House or Senate formally meets in the chambers of each house. If it remains in session longer than ninety legislative days, lawmakers cease to draw their expense money, currently set at $141 per legislative day. Legislators also receive an "office allowance" of $1,000 per month, ostensibly for the maintenance of an office area devoted to their legislative work in their homes or elsewhere within their district. Traditionally, it has been easier, politically-speaking, to raise the per diem and office allowance than the salary. The speaker of each house is entitled to a salary triple that of other members. Under a law enacted in 2004, legislators will receive a raise equally to that given to state employees the previous year, if any. The governor may also call "extraordinary sessions", limited to the topic or topics outlined in the call, limited to another twenty days. Two-thirds of each house may also initiate such a call by petitioning for it." - OS
  11. Yes, you're right, it doesn't specify those specifically, all it says pertinent to that seems to be: "The permit may be issued based on the person having a permit from another state provided the other state has substantially similar permit eligibility requirements as this state." So the extent and requirements are obviously left up to TNDOS as to what they require from the other states as regarding training, fingerprints, and fee, depending on which state the permit is from. - OS
  12. Yeah, I bought it/them BECAUSE I liked the grip so much. - OS
  13. Knife would have to have a death laser in it for me to carry one that needed a safety. - OS
  14. Nice. I like the Profile folder, but I really like the fixed blade model. Pretty darn serviceable sheath for nylon, too. - OS
  15. Several out of state applicants have confirmed the info. The only mixup was when one had current out of state permit taken by lady at DL station, which she should NOT have done. Note that all states are listed that issue permits. The ones that full fee must be paid state the amount $115 clearly. The others state "applicable renewal fee". Dunno why that amount is not spelled out though, as both are mandated by TCA, and can't be changed by mere whim of TNDOS. - OS
  16. Just don't pick up that tube of glue! - OS
  17. Actually began to think we'd get through this thread without this standard urban HCP legend being mentioned. - OS
  18. Note what it says for GA: "pay the applicable renewal fee" Will cost GA permit owner $50 instead of $115. - OS
  19. I only have wood stocked ranch config, so I'm no help. If I get another one, will probably get standard tactical model. The only thing I need to work out is to fit a sling swivel base on ranch and/or tactical for bipod. I don't mind the "look" of 30 rounder with standard stock, myself. - OS
  20. Oh Shoot

    My BAD Habit

I'm running up to your place when the SHTF. (your pic inserted) - OS
  21. Yeah, hope to see ya fore ya go, Cody. - OS
  22. Certainly a classic. Achilles heel is the very narrow tang from beginning of grip onward. Admittedly, you'd probably have to abuse it to break it, but many have. I admit I haven't put it through it's paces yet (many others have, though), but Becker is again cranking for some time under Ka-Bar, and I couldn't resist putting his BK7 in the ole knife arsenal. $63.47 from Amazon with FREE SHIPPING, but it looks like it may not come with the companion BK13 small knife that some of them do, can't tell from description: - OS
  23. Well, it IS true that ranges of critters certainly change, and they don't consult maps to do it. Just look at fire ants. Global warming means there'll be iguanas in Maine before long I guess. - OS
  24. Bounty upped to $100 for coral snakes. $5,000 for a cougar. $25,000 for a bigfoot. Offer not valid for bkelm, who probably has some coral snakes over at the zoo, maybe a cougar, too. - OS
