  1. Ah, well, I wondered. Retro repros, not actually vintage. - OS
  2. Don't 40-75 year old tires like, rot? - OS
  3. Sorry, my Planet Jack Frequency Decoder acts up now and then. - OS
  4. Turner Classic Movie Channel is of course nationwide, same programming. Comes with basic digital package. Matter of fact, it's the only uncut commercial free movie channel you DO get. - OS
  5. Well, it's true that a couple of companies to fall under the Freedom Group/Cerberus umbrella have been highly criticized for quality degradation, at least as far as fit and finish. Like Remington 870 and Marlin lever action rifles. Then again, that seems to happen in general over time, especially as economy tightens. Ruger 10/22, for example. - OS
  6. Let's not forget the other abuse of power here. The older big guy threatens to arrest people selling guns in the lobby or outside the building. First of all, his powers of arrest are debatable, but secondly, it's not illegal to do so. If the intent is to keep folks who have not paid admission to sell/buy guns, well, that's one thing, but I don't see how that could possibly be an illegal offense, unless the promoter wanted to claim it is trespassing. Incidentally, our own BlueMax had of course paid for admission, and the two gents I saw warned at the last show obviously had, as they were inside the lobby past the checkpoints. - OS

    New M&P9c Carry

Well, they may let you sign up early for coming year, dunno. But they change the lock on evening of June 30, which is their simple but effective way of renewing, so as long as you get a new key is the important thing. - OS
  8. I don't think they'd be buying Glock to shut it down. - OS
  9. Well, we may just soak it all with good old 'Mericun oil. That'll show 'em. - OS
  10. To clarify, right now, signage is covered in two different statutes: ------------------- 39-17-1311 (Public Parks and etc) Signage is prescribed as to minimum size and exact wording that must be included: "Each chief administrator of public recreational property shall display in prominent locations about the public recreational property a sign, at least six inches (6²) high and fourteen inches (14²) wide, stating: MISDEMEANOR. STATE LAW PRESCRIBES A MAXIMUM PENALTY OF ELEVEN (11) MONTHS AND TWENTY-NINE (29) DAYS AND A FINE NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500) FOR CARRYING WEAPONS ON OR IN PUBLIC RECREATIONAL PROPERTY." ------------------- 39-17-1359. Prohibition at certain meetings Which probably after this week, will only need the international no gun image, or some "substantially similar" wording to areas mentioned in the statute. Although no minimum size is specified for either. - OS
  11. Seems it needs to be in a magazine for the best fun. - OS
  12. Another mission for Kwik! (if he gets HCP back). - OS

    Finding .380 Ammo

Aw, just wait till you really really really need it. It'll probably work. - OS
  17. Wal-Mart is an American company - it's the largest private employer and also the largest grocery retailer in the US. Millions of Americans also own Wal-Mart stock. If you have any kind of retirement fund or mutuals, you probably do too. It sounds to me like the greatest American success story within the capitalistic free enterprise system so touted here. Yes, I'm familiar with the downsides of such a mega corp, but on the other hand, how can one fault our greatest retail success story? Isn't that the goal? Quite debatable as to all the factors that have "crippled the US economy", and it certainly won't make any difference whether I shop there or not. Ammo and guns account for the majority of my purchases there, and most all of it is American made also. Those companies are making money off my purchases -- even with the mega discount buying power of WallyWorld, it isn't like Winchester, Remington, Marlin, and Ruger and etc. are selling their products at a loss there. Indeed, I pay extra $30 per year just so I can shop there (Sam's). - OS
  18. I don't see any signs around Knoxville either anymore, but they're still consistent with the 6 box limit. - OS
  19. website only says: "Possession, transportation or discharge of firearms, air guns, crossbows, bows and arrows or other weapons and explosives, including fireworks, is prohibited except authorized hunting equipment during set hunt dates." LBL | General Regulations I thought between federal and state laws, we had finally gotten to carry everywhere. So, US Forest Service is still technically a no no? And TVA? Anywhere else, like Army Corps of Engineer places? - OS
  20. I don't have any kind of vested interest in the switchblade laws, but one isolated case of a switchblade possession (in the home) by a drug addled lady in Kingsport whose lawyer didn't even seem to contest it, does not convince me that ... "It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that the person must prove by a preponderance of the evidence that: (1) The person's conduct was relative to dealing with the weapon solely as a curio, ornament or keepsake" is not a valid defense to having a switchblade (or brass knuckles) laying around in your knickknacks, and is indeed likely why openly selling them is not policed either. What more "preponderance" of evidence than the way you keep your switchblade could be required, razorback2003? Why is the section even IN TCA, if not for people like you? I posit that much less "preponderance" would qualify, just as one keeps all kinds of items as "keepsakes, ornaments, and curios". You'd be nuts to carry one, though. - OS

You haven't shot 500 through yours yet? Or, better question, do you expect to shoot 500 through it, period? - OS
  22. All the Knox area Wallies I've bought from in the last year or more have been consistent with the 6 box limit. - OS

  24. Only works if: - the mail system in use on receiving end supports that - and the user email program is set to support that (almost all email programs allow mail recipient to disable mail receipts, including Outlook and Outlook Express) I've found that the receipt feature works no more than about 20% of the time any more. And of course, you won't get one from my end if you email me. - OS
  25. Cody, memberships are still June 30-June30. It's a go then, 11:30-noonish, whatever. Anybody wants to come on up, well, then come on up, eh? - OS
