That would be under the "you name it". I also omitted the hotbed of spread from Trump's White House itself. Likely, couple hundred folks or more when you add up all the aides, pols, secret service guys, family members, etc. All directly related to his scoffing approach to this "flu". I imagine that Carson and Christie weren't exactly adoring DJT from intensive care, nor Cain. Of course, what we don't know about are all the other folks these spread to. That's how it works. - OS

They almost certainly did contribute some. Trump's indoor events were especially ripe pickings though. - OS

With the uber right denying most all the vectors for spread that medical science has mentioned (churches, schools, universities, restaurants, bars, planes, stores, extended family, Trump rallies, motorcycle mega rallies, you name it), it seems this may be valid. Or maybe it's just divine intervention, since none of those associations could possibly be a real cause, eh? - OS

Info is scattered. CDC has leading causes 2014 - 2017 at: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/pressroom/states/tennessee/tennessee.htm TN itself doesn't seem to publish on web that kind of breakdown that I can find, only general scattershot death numbers/rates/causes (and only 2009-2018 at: https://www.tn.gov/health/health-program-areas/statistics/health-data/death-statistics.html - OS

Thanks, I'd been to the TN one before but didn't have it bookmarked. Looking at just last three PDF file dates, would seem the 2019 one should be out. 2018: done on 10/10/2019 2017: done on 10/29/2018 2016: done on 9/25/2017 I guess maybe TN Dept of Health has been a bit busier this year than usual for obvious reasons? Dunno. As far a CDC, couldn't say. AFAIK, their primary info comes from the states themselves, so should have the 2018 year up. Is there any statement about reporting dates on site there, didn't peruse it myself. - OS

you mean, over all death rates, like by month or something? Where are those stats you're seeing, so I don't have to search - OS

Data for what?

Well, looks like we've entered into the double jeopardy round where the scores can really change. New record of 89 TN deaths today. Got a mention on National Gnus here and there as among states with high case counts, hospitalization saturation and etc. - OS

TN average daily deaths (updated 2PM daily): March (over last 11 days of month starting 3/21 with first death) 2.0 April 5.8 May 5.3 June 8.0 July 14.7 Aug 22.5 September 23.2 October 29.0 November (thru 7th) 33.8 total TN deaths 3,590 IHME projection for total TN deaths based on Current projection scenario by 2/1/21: 6,875 ---------------------- New one day record reported for the 3rd: 75. (Although I've come to deem this particular stat as not all that reliable, as reporting totals generally seem to be less on weekends, then "catch up". So either fewer people die on Sat/Sun or the reporting system just isn't as responsive then, and I suspect the latter. - OS

The first vaccine(s) only have to be evidenced 50% effective to be released, so don't expect a magic elixir right out of the gate. IF this virus doesn't mutate, or cousins of the same family don't propagate, unlike the extant influenza strains, it will easier to eventually nail down a more effective vaccine for it than for flu. But it will likely be a significant time frame to get there, and even the most effective one to come may only give temporary protection, so it might well require a yearly dose (or even more often, who knows). Not to mention what may well become the biggest hurdle -- getting enough of our population to actually take it. ------------------------------------------------------- Meanwhile: TN Average Daily Covid Deaths March (over last 11 days of month starting 3/21 with first death) 2.0 April 5.8 May 5.3 June 8.0 July 14.7 Aug 22.5 September 23.2 October 29.0 total TN deaths 3,353 IHME projection for total TN deaths based on current scenario by 2/1/21: 6,875 (this is actually less than the last one) - OS

Yeah, think I'm gonna just give up on this one. edit: That's why I'm posting just the TN death rate, a month to month comparison I've not found anywhere else. Of course, that cause of death can be debated too (and often is from the Right), but the death total is reported by TN daily, and our state gummit certainly has little of any kind of "blue" agenda. - OS

Oh, wait a min, now totally confused, didn't catch that. So again, what time frame is that? If YTD, 45K deaths in just 2 months? That ain't right. 45K deaths for whole previous 12 months? That can't be right either. Plus that would be almost totally pre-Covid stats too. - OS

Running 1920 x 1080 on 24" monitor btw. In simple HTML terms it looked like the notice just got notated as within a separate column, if that basic coding even still applies. -
Well, Covid simply not mentioned at all. CDC become Flat Earthers or something, it just doesn't exist? Maybe it's broken down into other prevailing causes, like lung or whatever? Dunno, would have to look at previous year to compare. No idea. Also, reason I asked about time span, is that if YTD, then they're showing about 45K for the year? (quick eyeballing), but in 2018, TN had 71K deaths (last official state data count), and even without Covid would assume this would be same and likely a bit more due to population increase this year. But say just the 71K again, that would mean 25K more just in next 9 weeks or so? That doesn't seem to compute. So all in all, dunno. All I can do is report what the state of TN officially releases. Which I guess is what CDC gets also? - OS edit: see next post, date didn't sink in.

Dunno about other folks, but broke the layout in FireFox, can't get the sidebar with notice about upgrading to go away, squishes everything else on site onto small area of right side. That notice used to show up centered at top of page. screen grab\ -
Assuming those are valid stats, I don't what that purports to show exactly as far as this topic? Also, I see no indication of time frame on that breakdown? - OS
