I've got Cobra .38 derringer. Always goes boom. Plenty safe enough long as you keep it on half cock, has a cross bolt safety too. Needs to be on half cock to load, if you force it closed not on half cock, THAT's when The Bad Thing could happen. Very heavy, fairly crudely cast, not quick to deploy, hard to recock with one hand, has 42.4 lb trigger pull, shouldn't use +p. Other than that, great weapon. - OS

Yeah, I know, thanks for the reply anyway. Didn't realize the .css was facebook, surprised at the frequent queries to that. trblmkr13 (can't seem to multi-quote with this antique either), I am gonna get a new laptop at some point, but it still won't help the situation down here at Mom's unless I throw some bucks at a provider, whether cable or phone/net, which really isn't worth it for one week out of 6 or 8. Once I get new box, maybe I'll just start spending more time at some free WiFi places during the day or something.... - OS

Yeah, I know the InterWebzNet isn't dialup friendly anymore, but every 6 weeks or so that's what I have to use for a week and with the Vbulletin upgrade, it's even worse. I'm even running with images turned OFF, but still slower than surfing TGO's previous version with images ON. But specifically, I'm seeing constant references and delays related to the main style sheet call that's not on TGO at all: "b.static.ak.fbcdn.net/rsrc.php/z1YJS/hash/1udermh8.css" Wondering why that call/style isn't on TGO itself, and if it were, if it might speed things up? Another significant delay on each page load is that the sidebar option with the "new posts" column (the one called for with the "<<" ">>" click) has to fire up before being suppressed, even when the option is set NOT to show it. It happens on broadband fast enough that it's generally not noticed I guess, but it's another 30 second wait on dialup, and wondering if there's a Javascript or stylesheet tweak that can bypass it if option is not set to show it? Just a couple of thoughts while painfully surfing from out of town. Thanks for considering. Sure makes me appreciate cable internet, that's for sure. - OS

Can anyone tell me what this wedding band is worth?
Oh Shoot replied to strickj's topic in General Chat
Seems you might have gotten lowballed to me. I sold my old similar 14K plain wedding band about a year ago (in 'Nooga oddly enough, Kennedy) for $50, and gold has at least doubled since then. He was only buying it for the gold, AFAIK. - OS -
Helluva lesson all right. you have end quote tag at beginning of section. - OS

"Any one out the a Constable?" Umm, do you ever have to write anything in that position? Just sayin.... - OS

I bought a $40 Bushnell 20-60 power, one with the long eyepiece, like a telescope, since the short eyepiece optic ones are generally more. Piece of crap, but I can see .22 bullet holes in lighter colored paper at 200 yards, which was all I was after. So mine is "good" for needs/price and quality expectation. - OS

Maybe. You can't "see" much of the spill. It has become a plume making, bottom hugging emulsion or colloid, with all the dispersant used. We've got 150 million gallons of a new chemical cocktail out there now, with unknown long term properties and effects, and fairly unpredictable points of concentration. There may be anaerobic zones for god knows how long. No really telling what all might be affected, or when, or how.. A good tropical storm, let alone a hurricane, might change the game, too. And no end in sight. I'll believe August when it happens. I'm still betting on trillion dollar hit. Hell, the LA/MS seafood industry alone might be gone for a decade. May have two headed pelicans and grouper when populations do return. And two-headed children. Just no way to know. - OS

I never posted in it at all, and I've got like what, maybe over a hundred posts now or something. - OS

The Wallyworld Federal 'bout same as other .223 I've tried so far, like couple types of Wolf, Brown Bear, Tula, Fiocchi, some 5.56 military ball, etc. - OS

Well, ya got a point with that, I admit. I guess Hi-Point markets their .380 for US only? ... but then again, I don't know...wonder if it's a big seller in South America or something? I read somewhere that SA was the biggest market for the Glock .380. - OS

Yeah, I did, and hope you know I was too. And yeah, takes an extra step to get to "advanced", where the smilies are, though I generally attempt droll statements without using one. - OS

Yeah, I meant by "now", like a change some time back. - OS

McDonald v. Chicago SCOTUS Opinion
Oh Shoot replied to eapking's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
No, you'll be able to own a handgun (in your home) anywhere. Won't affect carry, or licensing/registration, or bans on specific weapons configurations anywhere. Though I've read a number of lofty essays about how it could change the concept of firearms laws in general in the US, the above is about as far as anything will be "incorporated" as far as I can see. Maybe it will make other lawsuits against individual state laws easier to overcome, but I don't think that's what "incorporation" really means. But I'll keep a good thought for your hopes and hope that I'm being too narrow sighted on the matter. - OS -
McDonald v. Chicago SCOTUS Opinion
Oh Shoot replied to eapking's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I don't see much change that will happen, except that folks in Cook County (and anywhere else, although I don't know of anywhere else they're banned) will be able to keep handguns in their homes. After jumping through whatever outrageous hoops to do it, 'bout like it currently is in D. C. or NYC. It won't even change all the ridiculous "assault weapon" bans and limited capacity mag laws that a number of states have. - OS -
Yes, sometimes I forget that all their models are the perfect personification of perfection. - OS

He was on Hannity's radio show today. Read letter and commented, etc. - OS

Yup, poor analogy, or metaphor, or something. - OS -
Guy I used to work for grew his spuds in old tires. Plant in first one on top of ground, and as top grows, keep piling tires and dirt on. He'd go maybe 7 tires high. Harvesting is easy, just kick the tire pile over and spuds everywhere! - OS

Yep, dime a shot cheaper than same from Wally's. Wish I were flush enough right now to grab a thousand and stash 'em. - OS
-
I'm not. It's exactly the same size as the 26/27, same capacity as the 26. Why would anyone want to go with a lesser caliber when they could have same size gun with same capacity in larger caliber? If they wanted to make a .380 mousegun to compete with all the other US sold .380's, sure, it probably would sell like hotcakes. - OS

Also, note that "all posts" only go back 500 max now. - OS

See my writeup link above. Decal Grips are great, but VERY susceptible to solvent getting under the seal, so watch out for that when cleaning. - OS

The grit on skateboard tape will rub off, can be kinda bad with handgun holster carry grating it around between holster and gun finish. It'll also sand YOUR own hide down if you carry IWB with no undershirt! - OS
