As per my previous post, I found the links to the (possible) problem: 41 Days later... - PerfectUnion BBS Got an E Mail From The Head Ruger Engineer - PerfectUnion BBS Something to check. Seems the front one is usually the bad one, and yeah folks first noticed the prob when they couldn't zero their scopes. - OS

Ah, you say that now, but just wait till Taco Bell tells you "¡ No tenemos tortillas, beba su gasolina !" - OS

That's a laugh, as as Mike usually has SKS and Mosin with him. But of course his Garand ruled on the 4th. I shot all American today. (well, my particular Beretta IS made in Maryland). Good to see ya Zen, and belated welcome to TGO. - OS

It's actually somewhat surprising that a chick or two along the line didn't do the shooting themselves! - OS

Well, I dunno...Remington Golden Bullet and Federal both do say "plated" and "copper plated". But I realize that's not the same as "jacketed". Glad you are alright Mac, I was just fixing to give you phone call to check up on you.[/CODE] Thanks Bro, I'm fine. What were we just discussing? - OS

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public." The really really really sad part is that it has become ever more to our corrupt government's benefit to KEEP the masses low on their overall historical knowledge. That way they don't realize that our "two party" system has become a worse tyranny than the British rule we first fought. And to think, we once rebelled over a mere tax on tea. We've certainly come a long way, eh? - OS -
Yeah, I still be kicking here. Thanks for the risible concern. As Mike said, had one of those reset type steel .22 targets out there. Maybe 16-18 yards tops. We've shot a lot of handgun .22 at about that distance over time. This one has the actual targets leaning down slightly away from you on the perpendicular plane, so never worried much about them. Bam/thunk! Pretty good little rap on almost dead center of forehead, like hard enough to feel in in bone as a blow, not just a skin prick. Put hand up, blood, first thought, geez am I actually shot? Noticing no gray matter seeming to ooze out (and not sure there's enough left TO ooze), I'm realize I'm okay. Odd thing, it somehow nicked finger on my left hand, too; weird, like a ricochet off my bean, or my bean fragmented it, who knows. Never could find projectile. Mike was just walking away from me when it happened, and he sorta thought he had felt a little something, too. And no, I don't have a steel plate in my noggin or anything. And yeah, I always wear glasses, but admittedly the "always" is because they are my reading glasses generally low on bridge of nose to see sights better with, but I guess they would have stopped or at least dampened the blow if it had hit there. Nice precise little punch type wound there, and some little swelling around it, which I think is actually there from the impact, like a miniature "pump knot". Pretty sure was a 36 gr brass plated hollowpoint, was mostly shooting some Federal and Golden Bullet bulk stuff, breaking in a new Neos. Thinking it might have hit the frame of the swinger array or something. Ya know what, though, we often shoot 9mm, .357/.38, .45, at heavier gauge steel spinners at about the same distance! I do believe I might give a little more thought about that in the future, and will certainly move even any .22 steel targets back further. Actually, I suppose that a plain lead head bullet would likely be much safer on steel, yes? - OS

One more thought. There was a run of bad scope base milling at some point. The "scallops" that are cut out. Are they consistent on front and back mounts? I've seen a pic of the bade ones, but can't find the thread on perfectunion.com. The bad ones weren't perfect "half moon" shapes, but were sort of incomplete on one side of the arch. Remember reading that quite a few had to go back to Ruger to get them recut. - OS

Very small pebble though. Small county DA. Let's see if the state sits on him. Probably will in a state that has no CC permit issuance and open carry is iffy depending on jurisdiction. - OS -
That's a pretty amazing statement from any DA in a state that doesn't even allow concealed carry, and open carry seems iffy by location. However, I'd take it with a grain of salt. This is just one very local DA - Jackson County is rural, less than 20K folks in whole county. If Milwaukee or state DA stated that, it might really go somewhere. - OS

TN sales tax on pistol bought online and shipped from another state?
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in General Chat
The IRS has nothing to do with any state's sales tax. - OS -
Kel Tech's ain't pricey. I'd save and buy one outright; that way you won't have to buy a replacement XD or Glock or something down the road, which is pretty likely I'd say. - OS

Can you get in trouble if you forget your HCP at home?
Oh Shoot replied to a topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Well, anything's possible, I'll admit. The only real statute you could actually be criminally charged/convicted, though, would be illegal possession of a weapon, and I'd say since we've NEVER heard of a case, it's likely never happened. And I seriously doubt any PD would notify TNDOS regarding your forgetting your wallet, unless you had a history like Kwik or something. Always best to be legit in all things, of course, and sure, if I noticed I forgot my wallet, I'd likely disarm. - OS -

Well, I guess it could be a sticky wicket for a little while at worst, but unless they charge you under the Patriot Act and stick your incognito ass in Gitmo, I imagine it would all work out some way or t'other. - OS -
Jack, compared to umm, some here, I have an endless wealth of them. :-) - OS

TCA says you must have permit on you when carrying. However, there is no penalty specified for NOT having it on you. It's pretty far fetched to think that a cop having a bad day would charge you for illegal possession, since can be checked via radio. Even if he was so wigged out as to do it, can't imagine it sticking. - OS -
top of my head: - Coating nickels and dimes with mercury. - Potato gun (the ones you stuck into spud to load). Oh wow, they still make them. But they were metal then, of course. Zapped the missile out pretty stoutly, not sure if you could put an eye out or not, maybe. Bet they're pretty wimpy by comparison today. - REAL cherry bombs and M-80s, the toilet cracking kind. - Daisy pump BB gun (still have it) - Playing root the peg (mumblety peg) with all kinds of knives - Various sling shots, including home made ones - Burning holes in stuff with magnifying glasses (I wasn't into killing insects, but know I must have done a few) - War, Old Maid, Go Fish, Chutes and Ladders, Monopoly - Marbles - Full sized pot metal cowboy cap guns etc... - OS

How important is the 2A to your vote?
Oh Shoot replied to JAB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Just got Billy Boy Haslam's expensive looking flyer in the mail. "2nd Amendment Rights" "- As Mayor, he kept Knoxville the most gun-friendly big city in TN" That's why we don't have park carry, and still have the old "no firearm carry except Army or Navy Pistol" statute on books. I watched the City Council meetings on the park carry, and Billy Boy was strongly in favor of keeping the anti-park carry old ordinance. -"Believes recent attempts by out-of-state interests to attack Tennessee gun shows were wrong". Umm, that would be Bloomberg, and Billy as we all know was a member of his "Mayors Against Guns". - "Life Membership in the NRA, and will veto restrictions on the 2nd Amendment" Oh, okay, I guess I was wrong. Wonder when he took that life membership out, right after he realized he'd better resign from Bloomberg's coalition? Sheesh. And he's gonna be our friggin' governor, too. - OS -
Btw, just got back from few days in 'Nooga. There was LOTS of .38 there, at two Walmarts I went to, and Sportsman's Warehouse, and Academy, and I think at Dick's also. So, there oughtta at least be some WWB .38 FMJ around the Knox Wallies. Also, re the ones OP has seen at the pawn shops: standard price on these is $150 new, + tax/TICS. Usually see a few of them at gunshows for that price, if you don't see them anywhere else. - OS

Good thought -- I'm gonna ask for 10, to offset the new fee hike! - OS
