Can't believe nobody's mentioned the Belt Man. I guess 'cause it ain't under $50, but if you decide to go hi falutin...or maybe ask for one for Christmas/Birthday... 40 day turnaround, but certainly "a belt that will outlast you" deal. Double bullhide 1.5" probably the most popular. I have one, it's aces. Gun Belts by The Belt Man - OS

I think the only river boat outfit we still have is: Tennessee Riverboat Company | Knoxville Tennessee | Knoxville Cruises | Knoxville Boat Not sure if they run all the ones scheduled or not, if they haven't booked at group, says must have 20 before they go. Knoxville has BBQ everywhere, but a real dearth of definitive "must go" places. The place I like the best I only get grub to go, I don't really want to eat in house Couple others like that in the rough part of town, not recommended for normal social graces, though. Real shortage of funky hole in the wall great BBQ joints, at least ones you'd feel safe eating in, armed or not. Fairly new place on Sutherland near me (and a mile off the interstate) is Dead End BBQ. I've eaten there once, not bad at all. Dead End BBQ - Knoxville, TN Write up and review: http://www.nibblemethis.com/2009/10/dead-end-bbq.html We also have an area chain called Buddy's. Started out small years ago, over several counties now. Buddy's Bar-B-Q Not bad, but again not something you'd write home about. Since you mentioned the river, there's Calhoun's, right near the Riverboat landing. It's a nice looking restaurant, food pretty good, again not perhaps definitive cuisine or anything, but nice place. Knoxville Catering | Knoxville Banquet Rooms | Knoxville Prime Rib | Knoxville Ribs | Knoxville BBQ | Knoxville Bar B Q | Knoxville Barbque | Knoxville Seafood | Knoxville Wings | Knoxville Calhouns Big ass place, pleasant decor, view of the river. enjoy your stay - OS -
I think my boss is afraid I'm gonna go on a shooting spree.

Best I remember, you were laid off for two weeks without pay for an auto accident that was not your fault? And this is the best job you can find for the money? Really? - OS -
Why the hell don't they just send you a receipt instead? Since it's good for no matter how long. - OS

Happy birthday, whippersnapper. Btw, I just started getting some of your money, as they've already pissed mine away. - OS

Ah. Did you get the extension letter automatically, or you have to get in touch? - OS

I believe some folks have posted that they did receive a paper renewal receipt when they did their HCP renewal online, but seems they may have had to call once it seemed they wouldn't get it by the time the old one expired. Seems as if it's not automatic you get one, although don't take this as gospel, and I'm sure others will chime in. It seems that a renewal almost ALWAYS takes longer than an original permit, as they seem to give it a lower priority or something -- for that reason, I'm sure I'll do it in person when the time comes, just so for sure I have receipt and won't care how long it takes. - OS

Far as revolvers, big cutoff point is if you are going to carry it. And if you are going to carry it, how? Meaning, a small light 5 shot revolver that you can pocket carry is very discreet, but not a lot of fun to shoot very much, due to felt recoil. Especially the .357 models. .38+p, the mostly recommended carry load, is also still pretty um, robust in these little pocket guns. The S&W air weight line is by far the standard for this class of revolvers. Larger steel revolvers are much more pleasant to shoot, but are either too heavy and/or too large to pocket carry. A good compromise is the Ruger SP101, tough as nails, and carries very well for concealment in an Inside The Waist type holster. Still 5 shots instead of 6, though. .357 very manageable in the SP, and .38 is very tame. For a larger 6 shot gun, the Ruger GP-100 is a heckuva gun, but a little too large for truly discreet concealed carry. And of course any 6 shot Smith and Wesson. Also, if you simply like to shoot traditional revolvers of the western style persuasion, the Ruger Blackhawk/Vaquero series of single action guns are aces. I have a Blackhawk in .357/.38, with an additional 9mm cylinder. Love it. As far as semi-autos, every major manufacturer makes a variety of quality guns. Again, the field narrows down depending on whether/how you want to carry it. I won't get into caliber wars, but suffice it to say most feel that 9mm is plenty, especially in +p, and .40/.45 is, well, more of a good thing. Caliber of course, affects cartridge capacity, as 9mm will hold more in same size gun, and is the least expensive common round beyond .22, something to consider if you shoot a lot. I personally mainly EDC an XD 9mm subcompact IWB (avatar), which I decided was the best compromise in size, caliber, and capacity for me (of course there are MANY other excellent choices). However, although the XD is very much concealable in my everyday wear, which is an untucked polo shirt, sometimes I go for extremely deep concealment, and carry an (expensive) Kahr PM9 in pocket, though that means I'm carrying 6 +1 instead of 13+1. If you don't plan on concealed carry at all, then the sky's the limit on both revolver and semi-auto choices. Welcome to TGO! - OS

WTF. Whole AZ thing and the TN thing OP is talking about is simply to prove that you are in the country legally, not that you are actually a citizen. You can get a DL without being a citizen, and you can also get an HCP without being a citizen. But in both cases, you must have legal status to be here. - OS

Her hotness scale aside, and she is approaching 50 (she does have a nice grin), I have enjoyed any number of the flicks she's been in. Looking over her filmography to jog memory, I've been well entertained with: The Vanishing, Speed, Demolition Man, The Net, A Time to Kill, 28 Days, Miss Congeniality, Crash. - OS

Hell, I doubt if handgun carry in any form would pass on nationwide ballot. Absolutely. Drives me nuts when I hear people talk about "majority rule". Even with the electoral college, it's actually good that the majority of Americans don't vote period, IMNSHO. Things could actually possibly be worse. - OS

Federal Judge Nukes Arizona Illegal Immigration Law

Wow, THAT might be the start of the civil war some postulate. At least, it would likely be the first time federal troops would be deployed to enforce a federal decision over a state decision since the days of James Meridith at Ole Miss and similar. - OS -
Well, hmm...while my Marlin 336 indeed doesn't have takeup, it's pretty darn stiff. Even braced on something, I find it tough to release it without it changing point of aim some. Matter of fact, I'd say I'm somewhat more consistently accurate at 120 yards with my stock Mini than the Marlin. - OS

Ah, of course that makes sense. Then I take it as I had thought, that there's nothing regarding firearm "brandishing" in TN? And that a charge would be aggravated assault, wherein "Uses or displays a deadly weapon" is one of the criteria? Additionally, to split hairs, would simply showing the firearm, like moving shirt to show it in IWB holster, be grounds for that? Meaning, that it's not unlawful to carry your firearm in plain sight from the get go. Guess hinges on "displayed" wording intent, or what the definition of "is" is. - OS
