  1. Woops. NM. Thought it was "my" Nixons in Bearden.
  2. Also, again who knows final outcome, Missouri has theoretically annulled the Obamacare "individual mandate" in state wide referendum: Show Me ObamaCare - WSJ.com - OS
  3. I was up there today. Not surprisingly, pretty deserted. - OS
  4. Some folks use duck lures for muskies: - OS
  5. Font too small, couldn't make it out, Bill. - OS
  6. Not exactly a "win", but at least first Fed judge has ruled that it will continue for a chance to win. Actually fairly important, as at least the first decision won't have to be appealed from the gitgo, seems. Just first article I came to: Virginia Politics Blog - Va. health-care suit can go forward, federal judge rules "RICHMOND -- A federal judge Monday morning refused to dismiss a Virginia lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the federal health-care law, handing the law's foes their first victory in a courtroom battle likely to last years." <etc> - OS
  7. Well, they discontinued the 9mm version years ago. They do still claim to offer one in .38 special only, never run across one, though. - OS
  8. I wonder if the Safekeeper II design might be more than 4" all the way to hilt? I'm pretty sure CS only counts the 3 3/4" on the sharpened area. But further, is there some definitive ruling about the "to the hilt", as I see that stated here from time to time? Meaning, the statue only says "..a knife with a blade length exceeding four inches", and there is no further mention of that in the definitions section either. Certainly, the narrow section of the push knife is not a "blade". - OS
  9. All the best bro, keep in touch through TGO. - OS
  10. Scruggs is my numero uno. How could I not know about Dixon's, wow. Will check it out. Looks like they do the old Brother Jack's schedule too, start cookin' on Thursday, start serving on Thurs afternoon, Fri and Sat, and when it's gone, it's gone. Way back when, I was a regular at Brother Jack's, especially the wee hour batch on weekends after the bars closed. - OS
  11. I was shooting .22 pistol at at 16-18 yards on one of these: I think it might have hit the metal frame, but don't really know. Just know that instantly zapped me in middle of forehead, actually gonna have a tiny scar as memento. Could have been Bad in the eye without glasses. - OS
  12. Yep, I'm kinda skittish of them now, unless a good distance away. Even then, need some care. How far away are you guys shooting those things? They really need to be angled backward a tad. The resetting .22 one I was using when I got zapped, the steel disks do angles back a little, but I think I got the rebound from the steel framework. Mike.357 brings PlateZilla, even at 120 yards, he's careful to set a couple of rebars in front so that plate leans forward, to drive bullets downward into ground. I'm sure most everyone has seen the famous .50BMG episode at 100 yards on steel? The return hits the ground first, likely a very lucky thing. - OS
  13. It's become pretty much accepted anymore that just getting water to a boil at all is enough, since all water borne pathogens are killed before actual boiling temp is reached. - OS
  14. Everything you've read is wrong: - OS
  15. Oh, I don't think it necessarily is, but rather, a good comparison of what we're NOT doing with our military might. The whole mideast deployment is a travesty as bad as Vietnam, only fortunately involving much fewer American dead. But history will judge it as just as big a folly, and attribute it mostly to W's erection over "having to do SOMEthing BIG" after 9/11. Iraq will be a dictatorship/military junta in a decade or less after we leave, and as you intimate, Afghanistan will continue to be a the Graveyard of Empires, an 18th century culture with AKs. It won't change life over there one bit when we quit spending a bazillion a month over there to make us "safe at home" when we won't spend a fraction of that a month to protect our own borders here at home. - OS
  16. Even lil' ole Ktown has a Famous Dave's. - OS
  17. Well, I voted for him early, so there's nothing he could say to dissuade me now. It wasn't like I left the precinct doing cartwheels or anything, though. - OS
  18. In case you didn't fully understand, YOU can openly carry up there tonight. - OS
  19. The answer to that specific question is that you can carry there concealed with a TN permit. You can carry there openly with a TN permit. You can carry there openly with NO permit. Same for KY residents. They do not need a permit to carry openly. - OS
  20. Forget reciprocity. It is a technical agreement between states that really only affects the terms under which you may give up a permit from one state and receive one from another. For practical purposes, a state either recognizes your permit or it doesn't. If it does, you can carry in that state according to the carry and carry permit laws OF THAT state, not the laws of TN. If a state allows open carry without a permit, like KY, Virginia, and quite a few others, then you can open carry in that state whether you have a permit from any state or not. There are about 35 other states that recognize the TN HCP, and you can carry concealed with it. Some states are like TN in that they allow you to carry concealed or openly with permit only. Some states have open carry with no permit required, and you may do so whether you have a permit or not. Three states even allow you to carry concealed without a permit. As for open carry: http://opencarry.org/opencarry.html For general permit recogniton: http://handgunlaw.us - OS
  21. Oh, TOO small? Guess I still don't really understand the criteria then. - OS
  22. Assuming you don't want a small 1911, is the Glock .45 slim (dunno the number) or the XD .45 compact all that much bigger than the Bersa/Taurus? It's mostly the grip that's the prob to conceal, and both of these address that. - OS
  23. Knoxville never decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. I think of it as the Incognito City. Not sure we would be bigger than Murville without the Multiversity of Tennersee. Throwing that thar World's Fahr seemed to rock our "scruffy little city" back on its heels for about 20 years. That's actually our motto: "At least we're not Memphis and we mostly beat Vandy" - OS

    NRA

The NRA, with whatever its warts, is the only real national player. There really isn't a second best. - OS
  25. I think "big round in small gun" is sort of a non sequitur 'Mericun concept. Only a transplanted Moonie offers it. - OS
