  1. Thanks. We got that out of the way. I don't think they're any "dirtier" than any other lead nose bullet. Obviously you'll see more grunge in the barrel from non copper washed bullets, but I think most of it is the various lubes they put on them, not really from lead. My 10/22's don't seem to care, though .. I clean them every couple thousand rounds. Maybe. Whether they need it or not. - OS
  2. Far from my most embarrassing moment I'm sure, but in similar vein, I clothes-lined myself as a kid, running around in the neighborhood at night throwing cherry bombs into folks' gutters. Caught me right under the chin, felt like I did a vertical 360 around the line I hit the ground so hard. My buddies ran on off, leaving me whoever's backyard it was, where it took a minute or two to get going again. Homeowner didn't find me there, though. - OS
  3. And you get the foxes to vote themselves out of the hen house just how? - OS
  4. No. But in the real world, legal folder in a grammar school/high school is a big deal, but same at a college/university, meh, unless you did something perceived as a threat. A fixed blade on your belt or just seeing that Safekeeper (which may not be legal in TN period) for example, could be perceived as threat in and of themselves. Perception is paramount. I carried pocket knives all the years I worked at UTK, and saw many in the hands of maintenance guys, puter network guys, etc. Never thought anything about it, and didn't even know there was a law against it. I dare say lots of folks carry pocket knives on college campuses and don't think anything about it, and don't even know the TN statute against it. Note that this is not an encouragement on my part for anyone to break any law. As the law stands, to be 100% sure you could never be charged under 39-17-1309, you shouldn't carry even a tiny Swiss Army on your key ring. - OS
  5. I'd say your odds of being charged with a knife would go way UP with the scary looking Safekeeper. Also, the 3.75" model is over 4" from tip of blade to handle, so depending on how any given LEO might want to measure the knife "blade", you could be additionally charged under 39-17-1307 too. - OS
  6. Not to my knowledge. Could be that the MC came about to be more indoor range friendly, ie, less exposed lead, but don't really know. The WinClean stuff, for example, touts the MC jacket design. - OS
  7. The Rem Thunderbolts still seem to be okay. (who'll be first to say they're dirty?) I've shot them since I was a kid, haven't noticed any diff in them. They're one of the few 40 gr. bulk loads still left. - OS
  8. Technical difference is: FMJ leaves the base of the bullet exposed. MC covers the entire bullet, including the base. - OS
  9. There's no SAMMI standard for it, so it's whatever the manufacturer says it is. Or not. - OS
  10. Yah, here's one similar, uses wood uprights, so you can staple cardboard on. Doesn't have the nifty side hangers though. - OS
  11. Far out. I have NEVER noticed one of those. Situational awareness fail. - OS
  12. I never noticed the Rem Golden Bullets as being much different from any of the other 36 grain bulk loads until the last 6 months or so, but they have sort of gone south. I don't get misfires to speak of though, just underloaded rounds. The ones that go pfffft instead of bang. So far, and knock on wood, they've all made it out of the barrel. - OS
  13. Knives are forbidden by statute. Really any knife, any size. But nobody's gonna charge you with it on a college campus, unless you did something gnarly with it, or caused some other scene to piss off the LEOs there, so that they looked for something to flog you with. TN statues don't specifically mention pepper spray period. - OS
  14. I'm tempted. Site is a mess, though. Hardly any of the knives shown are available to order through store, and some in the store aren't shown in main site at all. Really pretty confusing. - OS
  15. Me three. Especially when it's friggin 90. Why would anyone wear a vest EXCEPT to hide something once temps are over maybe 70. - OS

  18. Always a good idea to check CDNNsports for mags. Often the best. - OS
  19. I don't care what they gouged when, if CTD has several of the items I want at the best price, I buy from them. I own a Kahr PM 9 because it's the best handgun for it's size/caliber; I don't care that the owner is a Moonie. I don't care what Bill Ruger said about mag capacity when; I own several Ruger handguns/rifles because they are the best of class/price for what I want. I prefer buying American, but own 3 XDs, because they are the best overall handguns for me. - OS

    Glock Vs 1911

I can understand that. Glocks get to be pretty boring, what with that near 100% reliability and all. Thinking about trading my XDs for same reason. - OS
  21. Really. Don't shoot at any gulls or anything, and you ought to squeak through. - OS
  22. Ever gotten an email that said, "if you don't get this, let me know?" I have. - OS
