  1. Scriptures, n. The sacred books of our holy religion, as distinguished from the false and profane writings on which all other faiths are based. -- Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary (1911)
  2. You just gave them PC - suspicion. It's suspicious behavior to deny a search, implies you have something to hide! - OS
  3. From what I've read about Rohm Gmbh, sounds like you have a "good" one. - OS
  4. JFYI, you can tuck with just the metal clips that come with it. Pull them out of the channel and re-attach. I wore mine this way even though I didn't tuck, as it seemed to flex and conform to side better. - OS
  5. Yeah, letter of the law, unlawful carry of a club or knife over 4" is same penalty as for a gun. - OS
  6. La Femme Nikita was already remade once in 1993 as Point of No Return (USA title). Bridget Fonda, Gabriel Byrne, Anne Bancroft. Quite good. - OS
  7. Round '78 then wife was working on a cabin somewhere up around Bay's Mountain area, a scrawny tick infested hound wandered in and hung around. After a few days of feeding it and asking around she finally brought it home. On a whim, I took it over to Cas' kennels where they used to be on Middlebrook Pike back in Knoxville. The man himself walked out, and knew the damn dog by name, was one of his store manager's in Seymour or Sevierville, wherever, dogs. Blew my mind. All the blue ticks, redbones, whatever, look pert near the same to me. I was once listed as a Communist in The Watchdog in 1967. But that's another story. - OS
  8. I find it ironic that Craighead got an injunction against McDonnel for copyright infringement (which is why the Kholster is now a round disk on top), when his own design is obvious ripoff of of Tucker's "The Answer", as is the Comp-Tac line, too. - OS
  9. PF9 is 7+1 P11 is 10+1 - OS
  10. Welcome "back" TDR, but you might want to catch up a bit : http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/45713-state-inspector-rejects-guns-bars-complaint.html -OS
  11. I've considered getting the baton training, as I'd like to be able to carry a pocket sap. Of course, it's absurd that baton training has anything to do with using a sap, but seems to cover all "clubs", and a sap is a club. - OS
  12. Doh. Edited my post to reflect that. - OS
  13. Who are you talking to? Me? (hard to tell without quoting, most of the time) As you can see by MY quote, it was a response to USMCJG's statement. If your question was for USMCJG, you should have quoted him. - OS
  14. I see proselytizing atheists and Christians as equally arrogant. - OS
  15. Wasn't a lawsuit, just a complaint to TOSHA: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/45114-server-guns-restaurants-workplace-hazard.html http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/newsworthy-reports/45713-state-inspector-rejects-guns-bars-complaint.html but no, we haven't heard about it. - OS
  16. Our wacky lovable AG. The HCP is simply a defense to unlawful carrying of a weapon, too. Handgun and the club/baton defense are both in the same section, appropriately titled: 39-17-1308. Defenses to unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon. — - OS
  17. Handy to prevent being arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon, first of all. I fail to see how certification makes you less liable for injury, however. - OS
  18. I do believe that you'll have to get another set of prints for the HCP, period; best done at place that does the electronic version. But those ARE paid for in your $115 app fee. - OS
  19. That's my point. You don't have to pay money or qualify to exercise a "right". Don't kid yourself that TN supports the right to bear arms. They have only grudgingly allowed its residents to purchase that (limited) privilege. And no, it is NOT simply a matter of semantics. - OS
  20. Horse pucky. Period. You are only able carry without being arrested because you have paid TN $115 for that privilege. TN does not fully honor the 2nd Amendment. - OS
  21. I mainly carry XD9 SC with the flush 13+1 mag and a spare 16 rounder. That's, um, 30 rounds. Seems like a lot. Lately because of going to a semi-NPE, I've dropped back to Kahr PM9 in pocket with spare mag in non tactical method (holster holds extra mag). That's 6+1, plus 6 for 13. Also seems like plenty. But I feel more comfy with the XD, just do. - OS
  22. Dunno. She seems to be losing her grip on reality at times all of a sudden. - OS
  23. Anybody familiar with the ABC part of TCA? Meaning, does it specify what ID is acceptable? - OS
  24. The "bearing" will be determined by the first person we ever hear of arrested for it. - OS
  25. Well, actually, don't think it's been clearly pointed out, FIRST OFF, that's the OLD statute you posted. Under the current one, the gun buster sign alone is binding. Whether it being on the second set of doors makes it legit, who knows. But it needs no words at all. - OS
