  1. They are? You have a section of TCA that supports that? Or some case law? There is a specific defense to knife over 4" for "hunting, trapping, fishing, camping", something you are unlikely to be able to support if caught walking with one on a city street. There is no defense for carrying a flashlight, because there is no law against it in the first place. - OS
  2. Don't know of but one .308 lever gun that's made today, the Browning BLR. Unless you mean Marlin .308ME, but there goes your commonality of ammo. - OS
  3. Was thinking more of actual intent of the statute wording, but yes anything is possible, and there are still burgs where certain things are more possible than in others. - OS
  4. How so? How has it been designed, made or adapted for that purpose? Same question for a baseball bat, too. The only flashlights I could see that might fit that description are the ones with the tactical pointed bezels, or whatever you call them. - OS
  5. You might want to list those countries. Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia might be the only ones. (EDIT: Add the Maldives) There are Christian churches in most "Muslim Countries", so your statement is at the least certainly a significantly flawed generalization. - OS
  6. I didn't know there was a difference in quality. I mean, they are both "authentic" and now Victorinox even owns Wenger. - OS
  7. I can see no provision in TCA for being charged with illegal possession of a weapon by carrying a flashlight, or indeed, ANY item that is not "specially designed, made or adapted for the purpose of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by striking a person with the instrument". However, as Punisher says, you could be legitimately charged with aggravated assault by using anything. - OS
  8. Better to disband BATF, or at least the F part of it, and repeal all previous federal gun laws. - OS
  9. Like when Willie Sutton was asked why he robbed banks. "Because that's where the money is", he said. - OS
  10. I dunno....way back when, Kerbela Temple was THE place for Knoxville gun shows. It's not as big a building as Jacobs, though, and far far smaller than the Expo. Maybe that would be a good thing, I dunno. - OS
  11. I am being serious and you're just making my point. A LEO is going to do what he's going to do. I made no statement about what may or may not stand in court. All a LEO has to ultimately say is that he smelled what seemed to be pot. Or if there's one around with a dog, just has to say the dog seemed to hit on something. I'm sure some cops here can tell you some other ploys that could be used (not that any on this forum would). Ultimate point is, if a LEO wants to search your car, he will do it, whether he actually thinks you may harbor something illegally, or whether you managed to jerk his cord and he has the will and the time for some payback. And I think you give too much credence to the power or even likelihood of suing cops for merely being hassled, with no real physical or significant financial damages to the individual. - OS
  12. Oh, thanks...somehow I didn't get that. "Never Mind". </EmilyLitella> - OS
  13. Yeah, of course a DL is NOT a requirement to get HCP. I guess they'd just give you the next sequential number that a DL would have, since the numbering system is the same. - OS
  14. That is all news to me. I have a MasterCard, Visa, AmEx, and bank/ATM/debit card, and NONE of them say anything about showing an ID. - OS
  15. Don't know why that's such a debate, as the answer is surely "no"? - OS
  16. Here's a general idea ... I've been shooting my mighty Hi-Point 9mm carbine at 122.5 yards. Really, that's the exact distance to the "100 yard" stand at Norris Range. Just the fat iron sights, elbow on bench, no prob with all in torso target rings, with 115 grain range ammo. Negligible drop at that distance compared to 50 yard sight in. Should be a few inches, but can't tell the diff with just the fat iron sights. Dunno how good it might do with an optic on it and on pod. So this is to say you might be really surprised at the accuracy through a quality weapon with good optics. But sure, much wind and it's gonna significantly affect 9mm leaving muzzle at maybe max 1500 fps compared to 3000+ of .223. And my Marlin .357 lever gun does about the same, with iron sights. - OS

  18. Get this one, and you won't have to decide which model is best: Only $1400 clams, a bargain. - OS
  19. Sounds like same thing "Herter's" is for Cabela's. - OS
  20. Got a card from "service center" (Mark's Outdoor Sports in Birmingham), said would be 4-8 weeks. It's been about 3 weeks. Mark's doesn't even work on them, but that's where I had to send it. - OS
  21. I have some Monarch 9mm from Academy, says "made in Serbia". It's brass cased. - OS
