  1. I don't usually think of WMA's as open grassland country ... Which ones were previously known for having large quail populations? - OS
  2. Quail Forever says it is loss of habitat, plain and simple. Not confined to TN either. - OS
  3. Nope, no dirtier than many others. I've shot beau coup of it in 9mm, .30-30, .223, and .22. Matter of fact, without the Federal selection at Wally's, I couldn't afford to shoot nearly as much as I have over the last couple years. - OS
  4. Dude, carefully, actually, READ the friggin statute so you stop embarrassing yourself. - OS
  5. Hee... True, I'm not very PC, even though I have several. (also have one antique Mac, too -- besides myself!) - OS
  6. Well, don't get bent out of shape about all the ILL horror stories. Remember that federal law allows you to take any of your weapons from one legal place to another on journeys anywhere in the USA. This includes even Chicago and NYC, whether they like to be included or not. Unloaded, cased, ammo separate, etc, to cover ass everywhere. - OS
  7. Parts are indeed problematic, though. Very little available except through Ruger. Firing pin is prime example...whether Minis break more than their fair share seems debatable, but what's not in question is that there's only one source for them, and Ruger won't simply send you one; you have to send whole rifle in for one to be fitted, AND they'll only fit the one. The couple of 3rd party pins that are made are pretty much universally conceded to be junk. - OS
  8. Quick Google shows that there is a switchblade/handicap component to federal law: "15 U.S.C. § 1244 provides, in summary: Knives can be shipped by common carrier, that sale, transportation or distribution, possession or introduction into interstate commerce of switchblade knives is authorized if it is pursuant to a contract with the armed forces or any member or employee thereof acting in the performance of his or her duty may possess switchblade knives and may have them shipped to him and sold to him or her. The possession and transportation upon his or her person of a switchblade knife or a blade 3 inches or less is authorized to any handicap individual who has the use of only one arm." So, I guess that would exempt you in TN under those circumstances? Dunno. - OS
  9. No, that seems to be urban legal legend. Or maybe it is law in some state or other and has become widely circulated. - OS
  10. Do you think this passage is in TCA just as an accident, having no meaning? "It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under this section that ... The person's conduct was relative to dealing with the weapon solely as a curio, ornament or keepsake" - OS
  11. Voted Friday... Write in for Gov. Chose an unknown indie for Congress over career GOP pol Jimmy Duncan State rep, long time anti-gun Dem Joe Armstrong, was unopposed I really feel like I made a diff all right. - OS
  12. One on The Strip in Knoxville still not posted as of Thurs. Weird. - OS
  13. Yes, that's the gist of it. It is not illegal to have a drink and carry per se, but only to have that drink in a public establishment that sells it for onsite consumption. So in the one case, you can be arrested/fined and lose your permit for 3 years for having one drink , even though you may not be "under the influence", while in other cases, you can only be arrested/fined for being "under the influence", but not merely for having the drink; and in that case, your HCP isn't even in jeopardy. And since "under the influence" is still only defined by any given LEO's judgment, it's still plenty gray. - OS
  14. What's unclear about that?- OS
  15. I'm underwhelmed by usacarry.com. Its summary for TN laws is glaringly incorrect/out of date in several instances, for example. - OS
  16. Almost certainly the "A Grip": Glock Accessories - Brooks Tactical Systems - Manufacturer of Agrip- Gun Grips & Accessories for Glock Heckler & Koch Kahr Kel Tec Ruger 1911 MP5 Pistols Revolvers - OS
  17. I disagree. How do you support that statement under TCA? - OS
  18. Copper Cellar on The Strip is not posted, even though Chase was pretty vocal about all that during the legislative session. - OS
  19. Again, TICS is doing badly what need not be done at all, and is just an added state tax to a federal service you are already paying for. I wonder if folks from other states who simply access the federal NICS directly have this problem? Probably not. - OS
  20. Yeah, me too. I'm the little red Chevy S10 impeding traffic at max 60 all the way out past Campbell Station Rd. Cuss me as you blow by if you like. - OS
  21. You'd best go ahead and surrender to the FBI. - OS
  22. There are still gunshows there several times per year. The Knoxville Convention Center in question is downtown, on Henley Street, on the World's Fair site. The Sun Sphere is in its "back yard". - OS
  23. Well, note that AFAIK Phil has never hit that shot in actual pro round. A major diff with pros is that most of the time their misses don't end up in a worst case scenario place, like ours. - OS
  24. Look at club face at address, actually slightly more than horiz, with huge swing with actual back loft, generating tremendous spin. Of course it's legal. Matter of fact, there's no rule in golf saying a ball has to come off a club in a certain length of time, just that it can't be contacted more than once per swing. Very few pros hit a straight ball very often. They have their overall fade/draw/straight tendencies, but work pretty much every shot for max benefit depending on variety of factors. - OS
