  1. Was dead from 7:30 am yesterday when I checked to see if any last min messages re the East TN get together until I crashed about 2 am. Was an "unsigned" maintenance message, a "be back in a few min" thing. So, far as I know, was dead for at least 18 hours. Was also briefly dead just a few minutes ago for 5 or 10 min, with your "signed" maintenance message. - OS
  2. Nope, "exact" not required, see FG's post. Only the park carry statute has exact wording required. - OS
  3. I hardly ever open carry, but I've been strapping on the Blackhawk when I go to the range. Stopped by a Pilot/Taco Hell afterward and wore it inside. Waiting on an order, it was pretty obvious the group next to me noticed and pointed it out to each other. Maybe it was just because most folks don't carry a big honkin cowboy gun on their hip, dunno. - OS
  4. No, it's not anywhere conforming in verbiage, or in the way/location it's even placed on wall. On the other hand, and just as we always discussed before, does it even have to be legal or better word "conforming" for you to be convicted? Really up to the judge, eh? Like his reasoning might be, "did you not understand the meaning of the sign?". It's all speculation, since we still have not seen a case where anyone has been charged with carrying past a sign. - OS
  5. Well, I was within 225 yards, pretty close. - OS
  6. Like me I guess, long as ya don't call me late for supper, it's fine. - OS
  7. Pretty sure he has it set for 300. - OS
  8. Mark, actually. Guess he means my TGO PM inbox is full, though I didn't get an email notice like you're supposed to. I cleared it. - OS
  9. Yes, open carry is not preempted by state law, any county/city can pass an ordinance against it. That's why it's not a "Gold Start Open Carry" state to opencarry.org. - OS
  10. A non TGO member let us shoot his .50 BMG last time at Jason's. I'd invite The Rabbi if here were in town. Spuds would fit in okay. Hell, somebody invite Kwik -- now THAT would be a hoot! - OS
  11. Handgun rounds through carbine will get probably at least a 200 fps boost. Some .357 mag rounds go more like 400 fps or more, guess everything depends on caliber and exact config of the round in question within that caliber. Incidentally, testing I've seen indicates that 124 gr is sweetest weight for 9mm out of handgun, but I'm sure 147 gr will do the job. - OS
  12. Of course. C'mon out. - OS
  13. I see no reason why a HCP should be required to have loaded handgun in one's private vehicle, any more than in one's home. The TN Constitution already states that we have the right to "keep and bear" arms, but that "wearing" is subject to regulation. I do not see how having handgun protection in one's car is any more "wearing" of arms than having one in your home. - OS
  14. 1. Under existing law, 39-17-1359 says that penalty for carrying past a sign is "a Class B misdemeanor punishable by fine only of five hundred dollars ($500)." However, 39-17-1352 says "The department shall suspend or revoke a handgun permit upon a showing by its records or other sufficient evidence that the permit holder ... Has violated any other provision of §§ 39-17-1351 — 39-17-1360". 2. Need to take any penalty away from carrying in posted establishments. Most states have no provision for it. The ones that do, simply allow that if asked to leave, can be charged with trespassing for non compliance. TN is the ONLY state that has a criminal penalty for carrying past a sign. And criminals aren't even charged with it, only HCP holders. 3. Desperately need for folks to be able to keep their firearms in their cars where they work. Employers are effectively denying their employees to defend themselves to and from work. This would apply to ANY employer, except for federal, I guess. - OS

  16. And wash her face. Her eye makeup weighs more than her clothes. - OS
  17. No. Handguns are either banned or not. Meaning, people with HCPs are forbidden to carry. The sign carries no weight with those without a HCP, who unlike you and I, can not be fined $500 for carrying past the sign. - OS
  18. Yep. Apples were laced with razor blades everywhere. And all homemade candy had ExLax in it. And beware the guy with the hook arm at the local lover's lane. - OS
  19. (re Lookout Mountain) It depends on what part of Lookout Mtn you are on. The state line goes right across it. There is town of Lookout Mtn, TN, with zip of 37350 and town of Lookout Mtn, GA, with zip of 30750. Btw, Rock City is in GA. - OS
  20. Dude, they only put them up when it became lawful for HCP holders to carry there, so we can assume that's who they want disarmed. - OS
  21. My decal grips gave up the ghost on Kahr PM9, so put a Hogue Jr on ... Once I got it finally stretched around whole grip to start, I found that pressing down with both thumbs on top edge and pushing upward finally did it. About a millimeter at a time. And I did actually tear mine slightly using hemostats that proved not to work anyway. Then I cut off the ridge on the front that is I guess supposed to be some sort of finger groove, which was a stupid "feature" for such a short grip. - OS
  22. Ruined otherwise perfect design with grip finger grooves, IMNSHO. (to continue the 3 year old dead thread) - OS
  23. Thanks, already have about 10 TGO ones. - OS
  24. Hopefully, he has found a place to shoot since he posted the question 3 years ago - OS
